Hi! I'm new to the forum and am so happy to find this place that's solely for huskies! Thank you! I have a million questions, but this one will do for now: My wife and I just got a new husky about a month ago, she's 12 weeks old as of this post and we've been making some really great strides with her for housetraining--except for one room. My wife is a husky expert and I value all of her wisdom for dog owning. But I also like other opinions as well, which is why I'm on here asking you all for assistance. She continues to go pee in this one room and I'm unsure how to curb it. We have hardwood floors with the exception of this one room, which has a rug on it.…

I've copied this from a website that sells these items. I now have two temporary harnesses with the plan to order some indi dog ones in the future. This photo has the lead clipped to a small piece of connecting rope that joins the harness. Both my x back harnesses have this, but it looks like the weakest part of the outfit. Is this really where you clip the husky's to? Has anyone changed theirs for something stronger, or just clipped straight to the webbing?

I know that many of you are husky experts, so I'm asking those of you who are a question: How can I train my husky to play fetch? Sampson, when he's hyper, can sort of play fetch with a Frisbee. I throw it, tell him to "Go get it," and he runs over to it. Then, I say, "Bring it to me!" and he runs over with the Frisbee in his mouth. But it takes a while to get him to give it to me. But when he's not hyper, he just kind of watches the Frisbee as it flies in the air.But he doesn't catch it. Do you guys know any ways to train Sampson to play fetch, or any tips, at least? Thanks in advance!

Every morning I take the dogs on their walk at 7am. There is never anyone out and it's nice and quiet. Well this morning a lady who runs with her dog was out jogging and she didn't have her dog leashed. It came charging across the field that is the same size as a football field right at us. Here I am with both dogs attached to the walking belt and me. I am trying to hold them back while this lady doesn't have a care in the world. It charged at us and Tuff bit him. Not hard enough to draw blood but I had to yell at the lady to call her dog back. I was soooo angry. Tuff put himself in front of me and his sister and protected us. I was proud of him. I always knew …

So i've made an application to West Midlands Canicross. I need to identify how old our huskies are. Both are rescue dogs, so their ages are approximate. Taylor is now 3.5 years old and Blaze between 18months and 2 years. Does anyone have any experience with competing with dogs where the age is unknown? It seems to be a very important part of the club memberships that i have seen so far

Baltus poops a [emoji90] I his room. I bring it to his attention, he runs off to the corner with food. I carry him to it & show him what he did was bad. Baltus sees it, I say "No No, Bad Baltus" & smack him on the snout. While mommy Katrina looks on saying "Ha Busted!" Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app

This little derp is Rory. She's almost 5 months old and I've had her for about 2 months now. She is a dream, cuddly as can be, super sweet and affectionate. She sleeps in her crate just fine, no problems. What she does freak out over is when my fiance and I leave during the day. We both have off schedules, I work mornings and he works nights, so some one is always home with her so she only uses her crate for bedtime. When she is crated during the day she thrashes around, screams and howls and has busted two iron crates, she throws herself against the doors so hard she knocks the latches off and squeezes through the top. Fiance has even zip tied the pieces of her crat…

I'm engaged to a lovely Englishman who is not sure he still wants to move to America when we're married, and is now wanting the dog and I to move to the UK with him. I love adventure and would love to live there for a while, but I don't know how I feel about flying my little Noodle over the Atlantic for 9+/- hours. The idea of her being in the luggage area where I can't see her or get to her freaks me out - mainly because there's been a lot of talk about airlines killing pets. Also, I don't want to have to leave her in quarantine for months. Have any of you flown your huskies on long international flights? I just want some reassurance that if I take her to England, she'll…

Hi I have a 12 month old male Siberian husky up until this weeks he's been the perfect dog he's never chewed anything, walks well off the lead for husky standards and he's been good when it comes to eating his food. But this week it's all changed first he became fussy with his food not eating his dry kibble but I got a bit of success adding a tin of sardines to it for a couple of days but he's even gone off that now. He also managed to chew half of our living room carpet up while the Mrs left him alone for 15 minutes while she done the school run. Then last night not even 1/4 of the way through his walk he just turned around and walked back towards home he didn't run of…

So my puppy Nova is almost five months old now and has been trained to use the doggy Bell to go outside to pee for about a month. She hasn't struggled with it at all and has had very few accidents. But randomly this afternoon she decides to pee on the couch 3 times and on the floor 4 times without even letting me know she needs to go outside. It almost seems like she's doing it on purpose to make me mad. One time she even went to the door and I was over there grabbing her leash and about to take her out (and she's smart by the way, she knows I was coming to let her out) and she just walked over by the table and peed. Idk what is going on. I just need some insight/help/adv…

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with my husky Keira, she is ten months old and every time I leave her in the kennel for more than one hour she poops or pees or both inside the kennel. It's a smaller kennel so she doesn't have too much room and I exercise her and let her go to the bathroom before I put her in it. I believe it's separation anxiety, because if I'm watching another dog and there's another dog in the kennel right next to her she's fine and she can hold it, what are some good tips to help break the anxiety so she'll be more relaxed in the kennel and won't go to the bathroom inside of it, I've tried toys, treats, I've tried beds, blankets, covering the kennel,…

Hey Guys, I'm a first time husky mom. My pups name is Zoom and he's about to be 4 mths. I've had him a little more then a month now. It's been a little rough with him due to his excessive need to bite. We know he's a puppy but his biting isn't something easy to deal with. It seems to be play biting but then at other times he just HAS to bite. He constantly wants to bite on your clothes, bite you while trying to play with him. You can't walk past him without him biting at your feet. We've tried with treats, toys, deterent sprays, long walks to tire him out but nothing seems to really get him to stop or atleast help with bite inhibition. I would like to take him to tr…

We have a 5 month old female husky, having rescued her at 8 weeks. I did tons of research before bringing her home so I knew what to expect. As a typical husky, she is very stubborn. We're working on the housebreaking thing and she's doing ok. She still won't "tell" me when she needs to go outside (or her cues are so subtle I miss them) so we still have 5-10 accidents a week. How does she learn "to hold" it? She also cannot stand to be in her kennel in the morning after she's gone out around 5:00am to do her business. She howls, whines and digs to get out. She might be ready to get up but we're not! My question is this: How does she figure these things out?…

So Mylo is nearly 6 month old, he has been crate trained from day 1 and was always more than happy to go in his crate at bed time which is always around 10pm, some nights he would need out for the toilet but some he would sleep through until morning and we never had an problems, we encourage his to do a pee before bed. About a month ago Mylo caught an infection and had an upset stomach so for 3 nights I slept on the couch with him so when he needed out for the toilet he wouldn't need to wait on me getting up as he was needing out every 30 mins to begin with. After about a week he was over it and back to normal. The problem is every time he goes in his crate at bed time wh…

We got a new kitten about four days ago, she's three months old, and terrified of the Husky. Ever since we brought the new kitten home Tika has followed me everywhere, won't take his eyes off the kitten, and obsessively watches her. If he believes he's going to get close to her, he will sit and almost whine/sing to her. It's pretty funny to watch, but I don't know how to redirect his obsession with the new kitten. We adopted our husky from the Humane Society in Utah back in December of last year. We know absolutely nothing about his history other than he's about two years old and he came from California. We have two other dogs one is a pit – lab mix, and the other is a…

I was walking my two pups with my son today. A little girl told me "I can speak to wolves" and proceeded to howl.I told her to command my pups to sit and she howled three times over (while I secretly gave my pups the signal to sit). Both of them sat down. Then I told her to tell them to spin. She howled (while I secretly signaled them to spin tandemly). She let out a gala of guffaws...How cute was she? How cute are we

Amy is 1year old next week, I've been told they can go through an adolescent stage and start ignoring commands they usually obey, she's ignoring stuff she's mainly been really good at like recall and the ignore command. Also, she has become a little shy of is in past few days and I'm not sure why, I did wonder if she is picking up on my frustration on walks ( I try not to show it and def dont tell her off!) Could this just be 'stubborn husky'? Has anyone else had experience of this? Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

So my husky will be 12 weeks old on Sunday and he has definitely gotten a lot better since when I first got him but he insists on biting my (or anyones) feet. I had been instructed that if he bites me, I tell him no, and he stops, to give him a treat. However I believe this is just making him realize he has to bite me first in order to get a treat. I even witnessed him bite me, stop on his own, look at me, didn't get a treat, went and bit me again, stopped on his own, and stared at me again. So I started trying something else, he has sit down pretty well and I was instructed that if he bites me, then tell him "No, sit" and he will stop biting you in order to sit. This is …

So I got my puppy at 6 week old and he is coming on 12 weeks now. I work from home but not in a job where I can get up at any time, so I have been leaving him in my room while working. I trained him to use the pad at a certain spot for about 3-4 weeks. He uses that spot just about overtime now (the only time that is different is while he is eating. For some reason while eating he will stop half way through, pee where he is standing, and then continue. Besides this he will walk a long ways to make it to the pad) . I then decided to start training him outside. I take him first thing in the morning, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and before bed. He now only goes…

Hello all! Looking for advice/help. Out husky is 3 years(as of January) old but we only got on the 4th March. She's been in the family since birth but due to family troubles we've ended up taking her. Up until us she lives with two other huskies (mum and dad). When we first got her she distoryed al it if things and we put it down to missing them. However since then we've looked after her daughter for two weeks and she did the same so now we know it's us she's missing. She's very loving and follows me round everywhere, she's definitely a mummy's girl! Shes crated in the day and she's stopped moving the crate across the room, although does tr…

So we're on day 4 of being Husky owners. I am exhausted! I took on board everything that was said about them being a breed apart etc etc etc and had an answer for it all. And yet this morning I was home alone with the three dogs and ended up standing in the garden, in tears, eating my breakfast because I couldn't cope. So I decided to write down the things I have discovered over the past few days. I have learned that if everything is quiet and you don't know where your husky is - you should panic. I have also learned that if you hear a noise you don't recognise and you don't know where your husky is - you should panic. I have learned that huskies have lo…

I need some ideas for my 7 month old Akira. I have had her for about 5 months now and she is moderately house trained. I crate her if im going to be gone for anything over 5hrs. For the most part she is pretty well with holding it for about 4hrs if I am home. In these instances I usually leave her in the living room with some toys and come home accident free. On the otherhand, I will occasionally leave her in the bedroom if I'll be gone for a few hrs as well. On multiple occasions she went from peeing on the floor to peeing/pooping on the bed! I am at a loss on what to do because i hate leaving her in the crate as I have another dog who i can leave out forever with …

Shiloh loves to play fetch with balls and other throw toys. I was curious as too how many others do this. I wasn't sure if many huskys play fetch. He learned it playing with my son's golden retriever and now he brings balls in all the time to play:) Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
