Hey guys! So my 4 month old puppy is fully trained to pee or pop on his training pad. He would sometimes miss by a little bit but at least he knows where to pee or poop. Just wondering how I can train him to scratch the door or give me some sort of warning that he has to either pee or poop so I can take him outside. Because I obviously don't want him to grow up pooping inside the house. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

I have recently joined this group and today, finally managed to go out with them.Well, what can I say. I travelled down to Hatfield Forest, not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. A very friendly bunch with a vast mixture of dogs...... Yes i did say dogs. This group is for anyone who wants to work their dogs, and is not exclusively for huskies. I took the scooter with me and with a couple of huskies attatched we set off. Got home about an hour ago and I have two very tired huskies. Sasha is zonked on the end of the settee and Sapphire is sprawled across my lap and not leaving me alone. The car is filthy, I was filthy, just had a shower, and I have a couple…

Hey, I got my puppy pretty young at 6 weeks old, his name is Steel. The first week everything was fine, he was happy, playful, sometimes he would bite pretty hard but he is teething so that seems normal. The only time he ever growled was when I would be putting food that he dropped on the ground back in the bowl but after some food aggression suggestions he stopped doing that. There are other dogs in the house but I have kept him in my room majority of the time except for in a controlled setting to make sure the other dogs aren't overly aggressive with him. I have now had him for a week and on Saturday I went to my parents house for Easter and there was a total of 7 dogs …

I've got a dog trainer coming to the house today, Astro's beginning to accept Koda more but we are still a long way off! It doesn't help that Kodas stealing his toys and barging in when I'm giving him a fuss. Because of the toy stealing Astro's started to guard his toys a bit so need to nip that in the bud! Also he needs training on the lead, it's difficult to train when there's 2 of them but on the other hand I don't want to be walking him on his own as walking them together helps them bond. Astro's always been quite vocal but it's got worse since we got Koda, he does it when Koda jumps up at me, on the sofa, when Koda tries to bite me, when Kodas running round tryi…

Hi everyone! I'm having a little bit of difficulty training my husky to walk nicely when we're out. She's always pulling at me and jumping around trying to get away from me. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to get her to calm down? She's 8 months old and we're getting her dressed next week, will that help calm her down a bit just in general? Thanks, Chloe + Kiara xx Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

Hi everyone, This is my first time posting on here, but I really need some help.. My boyfriend and I recently rescued a 2 year old female husky from a rescue in fond du lac where we live. All we really know about her background is that she was from a bad breeder and was kenneled her entire life. We've had her about a month now, and we're really having some issues with her. I'm pretty sure from a lot of the research that I've done that she has separation anxiety. She defecates in the house while we're gone even though she's been let out an hour prior and is totally potty trained, she chews at door and windows and tries to escape anytime she is confined.…

Hello, I am looking for some information on those of you who have had to deal with separation anxiety. My three year old Husky howls anytime I leave the house. If my wife or others leave she is fine it only seems to be when I leave whether its for work or just to the store. I am trying to curb the behaviour as we have a new born at home that keeps getting woken up by her howling. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

So when we first got out husky she was perfectly fine riding the car she would ride in the front with me or I would put her in the back but out of no where she just didn't like it anymore and now that we have to go out in the mornings she'll cry and she'll crawl up my chest every time and we don't understand where this behavior came from all of sudden . Hello I have two dogs. One whos fully trained on a bike and the other is still learning and some times does a better job than the oldest, in listening, haha~! My question is, how can I properly set up their harnesses so it doesnt hurt them. Im used to one dog so I got an x-back harness. It works fine but some times he doesnt want to walk ahead of me and the vest will get tangled and twisted and i have to reset it. No big deal hes kinda lazy in our runs. The youngest wants to not stop run. But she is still growing so I have a normal harness that you get in a store http://www.petsmart.com/dog/supplies-and-training/collars-harnesses-and-leashes/harnesse…

So my sister in law just had a baby a week ago and they currently live with us. I was worried about my 2 being around the baby. Tuff is 90 lbs and sometimes doesn't know his size, but to my delight he is pretty sure the baby is his. I had the baby while his mom got ready and I turned around to Tuff tucking the blankets up on him and just staring at him. He's in love. My youngest however wants to lick and clean him non stop. Any tips and how to get her to stop. I have been giving her a firm no when she licks and telling her gentle when she sniffs him. I don't want her to think she gets in trouble every time she is makes contact with him. Is it just her natural ins…

Our 10 week old puppy has been peeing in the same exact spot on the floor in front of the door for about a week now. We've tried everything to prevent it and nothing seems to work. He will do it even after we take him out and bring him right back in the house. We take him outside all of the time so we know it's not because he has to go so bad. We figured he is still smelling it from a past time he's done it so we have tried cleaning it with everything. Last night we used vinegar and baking soda and he still did it today. My boyfriend's other dog lives outside and our pup loves him so we figured he might be doing it because he knows when he pees there he gets let outside. …

Hope this helps. Jean Cote is so helpful and knowledgeable.. www.successdogs.com . ...... I was walking quietly with my dog Chase when all of a sudden we saw a Doberman walking towards us. Barking…Growling and showing teethes. His owner was screaming and yelling at his dog to stop. Even calling his dog an "idiot." So what did I do? I turned to Chase and started speaking to her like she had just won the Price Is Right. Took out her toy and started playing with her. Of course, she was all shaken up. But this quick thinking on my part prevented a negative association from happening. So why am I telling you this? Well, at first I was…

I re-adopted my husky at 8 months from another family who wasn't treating her very well. I helped her with her social skills by taking her to the dog park frequently and also daycare. Shes been great for about a year and now she just turned 2. She's been showing aggressive behavior towards other dogs. I cannot comfortably take her to the dog park and even when I take her out on walks, she's ready to lounge at the other dogs walking by. Before she would either pay no mind or sniff, say hello and go on about our way. She's extremely friendly with humans though. I'm not exactly sure where this is coming from... She got spayed at 10 month so I don't think it's a sexual aggres…

Just after some pointers please Amy has been with us for nearly 2 weeks now and settling in really well, shes 9months old and is a rescue Our main concern is her over excitement when out walking, as soon as she sees another dog or person she is so desperate to say hello, she bounds around in circles, and is hard to control, she has had some play dates with my friends beagle boy Blue and they get on great, hes staying with us for a few days and altho a little crazy at times they are generally fine, no jealousy over treats, toys or fuss. We are planning to get help training and socialising but as shes in season have been advised to wait til thats over, has anyone got any…

My boyfriend and I got our puppy about 2 weeks ago. He just turned 8 weeks over the weekend but he's slowly getting worse about potty training. When we first got him he was basically a natural (I think the breeder was keeping them outside). He would go outside when we took him and only had a few accidents in the house. We never used a training pad because alot of people say it can confuse the pup. Well over the two week span he has been peeing in the house right after we take him out. We will take him outside and he will do his business and then will walk right back in the house and go again. And it has gotten increasingly worse over the few weeks. My boyfriend and I work…

So my house mate brought back a bigger crate the other day (the biggest in the picture) so rather than getting rid of the smaller one, me and my house mate made keera a superfort... thought it might make the crate less "scary" if she had more space. Since doing so she has started going in her crate more during the day and just sleeping! (Great she's getting used to it and making it her space) The only thing is, she has pooped 3 maybe 4 times in her crate on the pillows and stuff she sleeps on, not in the empty bit, but where she actually sleeps! One of my friends has said maybe its because the space she has now is too big so, ive took away the smaller crate that…

Hi guys , so Simba is 10week old he's been on dry food since we got him I'm keen to switch his diet to meat as soon as possible but I'm unsure how to go about it and when the right time is. I can't help thinking if he was in the wild he wouldn't be sniffing out biscuit trees , it seem un natural and he also seems to be hungry 24/7 ( I know he's a puppy ) Any advice would be awesome .... thanks in advance

Hi Everyone, So I'm after advice and tips from those with a little more experience than I. When out and about on walks with our 3 year old male Husky Atlas, we often come across other walkers and their dogs. Atlas is never off his lead but on one or two occasions, other dogs have started barking and yapping at him and naturally he barks and has a go back when passing close by. It always tends to be smaller breeds that kick off towards him. Having not personally owned dogs before I was hoping people could answer a few concerns/questions I have. How can you tell when it's just "dogs being dogs" and playing and when it's genuine aggression? Should I …

I have been recommended this head collar and wondered if anyone had any experience of it, thinking of it as a training aid and to give my poor arms a break! I ha e been trying lead training - stop, start, change of direction which seems to be helping even tho it can take us 20 mins to get to the end of our street!
