I finally purchased a three wheel rig and gave it a much needed makeover. I plan to run with my three Siberian's and I'm trying to decide on a team name because I'm going to get vinyl stickers to go up the side of the rig. I initially was thinking ThreeSibe Mushing but I am not sure I totally like it.

Hey everyone, I know there are probably loads of topics about Bikejoring, but thought I would start my own ! Akira is now 6 months old - and my gawd is she strong! Walking her is really proving to be a struggle all of a sudden, and having recently been told I may have fibromyalgia, my muscles can end up slightly painful from being pulled all over the place. Ideally I'd love to buy a pawtrekker scooter, but they are a little out of my price range. Would anyone be able to recommend a good bikejoring gangline which isn't too pricey, and at what age is it ok to start doing this, do you think? I'm scared in case it hurts her as I know she's still growing and dev…

Hi there, So first off new on here, but thought I'd see if other husky parents had the same issues. I have 2 huskys one is a female who is 11 months old (Storm) and the other is an 11 week old male (Taz). They are biological siblings from different litters. We have had both since they were 8 weeks old. So about 3 weeks with both together. For the most part they have gotten along great. Played really well together even been very loving together. Until 2 days ago. Storm has nipped at the puppy a couple of times but 2 days ago she attacked him pretty badly. He's at the vet now recovering from a severe jaw fracture and an extensive surgery. We are literally heart br…

Marley has always taken every opportunity to go upstairs during the day (he is not allowed to as that is the two cats refuge). He has always seen it as sort of a mischievous/playful thing - tail wagging madly when told to come back downstairs. He is not upsetting/chasing the cats - they are still on the landing and not in hubby's office - which has a child gate that they can get through but the dogs cannot if either dog gets too obnoxious. We cannot put a gate at the bottom of the stairs because of the additional handrail. However three days ago he cocked his leg on our bed - and the next evening he came into the lounge after being outside most of the…

So it's been a very chaotic week moving out of my childhood home and bringing my little wolf from the rural to the urban side of town. The first night was tough for her, and consequently for my fiancé and I. I'm impressed with how quickly she's adjusting though. Last night was the second night and she slept in her crate without digging or whining, so that's a win! Now the only bump is she's not eating. I've put her bowl out with her normal food in it and she's completely ignored it, so I bought her some "wild rolls" wet food from Blue Buffalo Wilderness I hopes that the wet food on top might make her food more enticing, but that didn't really help either. She ate a few…

So Nala - the love of my life, my baby, my best firend - is only these things to me. She is not particularly fond of anyone else really. Even living with my parents and siblings for entire 4-year life, she is still semi-nervous around them for some reason. And don't even get me started on strangers. For anyone who read our intro, I am moving into an apartment soon and being a twenty year old making this break for the very first time, I'm sure you can assume that I will be having roommates. My future roommates came over one day and I wanted them to meet the furball they would also be rooming with, they came inside, behaved calmly (so none of that high pitched getting…

Hi guys. So, not a husky, I know. But I know you guys have lots of experience with counter surfing huskies. Well, Daisy (9 month old black lab) does the same thing...except when we're not looking. She's sneaky about it, and we haven't been able to catch her in the act, we've only seen her jump off the counter when we come in the room...and we can't scold her for that right? I was wondering if there is anything we can do that'll curb this behaviour? Will bitter apple spray help at all, maybe spray it on the edges of the counter?

Do any of you train your Huskies to do tricks? I mean other than your basic (or complex!) obedience stuff... So far all I've done trick wise with Tsunami is shake paw and play dead (he doesn't stay dead very long, nor does he actually look dead, but he flops to his side and paws at his face) I had this idea from when he was still a pup to teach him to ride a skateboard...so yesterday I found a cheap second hand one! Guess what we've been doing this morning??? Firstly, he was not scared of the board itself, which was good since he's terrified if the neighbourhood kids skate past the house! This was his first reaction to the skateboard! I wat…

So because Tsunami's fear/anxiety is getting worse & worse (I cannot even take him out of the yard for a walk!) I decided to make an appointment with a local dog behaviourist & trainer. It will cost a fortune, but after talking to him on the phone I'm hopeful that he will get to the bottom of this! Actually he said he already knows! The person who referrred me said he worked wonders with her Husky X boy, so I'm hoping we'll get Tsunami back to his old self soon! Any advice on what to look out for with the behaviourist/trainer when he handles Tsunami? Anything I should do or not do there? All he said is to bring the dog and his water bowl...

My new puppy Optimus is 8 weeks old, we picked him up just under a week ago and had previously taken him for a trip to the vets where he was very social. The vets receptionist even pointed out he was the only one of the litter to not be nervous there. (We're a small island!) On Sunday when we picked him up he met a couple of friends and was friendly enough, from Monday he seems to have suddenly switched and hides away from people and occasionally growls. We have kept introducing him to new people everyday and they are all patient with him and offer him treats which he will occasionally accept but will still cry or hide behind me and won't let people near him. I'd l…

my husky is almost 4 years old now and we have been having some serious issues with him marking in our house recently. my husband also thinks that he has respect issues towards me because it only happens when i am home. for example when i went to take a shower today, my husband came home for his lunch break and noticed that dan had marked in 2 places. he is also really bad about getting in my face and panting and whining at me. i always take it as he needs to go outside and potty, but recently he will do it right after i bring him inside so I'm thinking something else is bothering him and i don't know what it could be. i work part time and i am home with him a lot, he get…

Since Tsunami's other fears and anxiety attacks have gotten way better after the training, his fear of dogs barking behind fences or walls has escalated and is leading to horrible panic attacks which he ends up hurting himself (and me)! So it's back to the trainer again on Wednesday to shed some light on this! When he meets dogs on leash in the street or wherever he is 100% at ease and wants to investigate & play, but as soon as a dog barks behind a fence he goes hysterical Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

Walks with Harper and Hento are getting better and I'm much less frustrated than I have been in previous posts, but we are still having major issues with Harper lunging at other dogs that go past, and barking at them. It's ridiculously embarrassing and she is extremely difficult to keep hold of now that she is getting stronger (have resorted to stopping and keeping hold of her collar) It also really doesn't help that everyone here seems to have a small dog and just stops in their tracks when they see us coming, which leaves me to try and manoeuvre around them with a dog that is going nuts and me feeling seriously stressed! A halti seems to have helped but I feel I am just…

Honestly I'm just posting this because I'm proud of my girl. This is a big deal to me. Keira was very bowl aggressive. I say bowl aggressive because it didn't matter if it was food or water, if Kato got near her bowl she'd attack him. But now, Kato can wander into her bowl whether there's food or water and she will share or step back and let him have at it. Keira is such a great pup. It's never hard to correct her. She learns fast and easy!

we've got a 3 1/2 year led female husky who, after having no house training issues for years, has taken to pooping / peeing in the house on a new rug by the back door. She has always held it overnight but now this is Happening often at night when we sleep and some times when we have left the house. has anyone experienced a situation like this? She seems to know she was bad but seems to do it anyway!

So Tsunami's trainer seems to think that about 20 times of the sit command is enough per session at home...its more or less about 10-15 minutes. Right now he only does it about half of the times, getting either treat or verbal praise. How long should these sessions be? He's 9 months but after about 10 mins I cannot get him to focus anymore...am I expecting too much? The trainer said its more tiring than exercise when he has to focus...

I get up and work from home at 5am. The dogs drag themselves out of moms bed and go outside. They come in get the greenie and then fall back asleep on the floor. Grandma gets up shortly later and gets ready for work. Tuff then proceeds to gently push her out the door with his head. He then walks to the window watches her get in the car and as soon as she starts the car, he asks for his bone. A few hours later after lounging and playing outside he comes in at 9am(aka lunch time for me) and pushes me to the bedroom for nap time. He does this again at 2pm when I am off work. If I am 2 mins late he will sit and stare at me. Am I the only one with a dog that doe…

I mentioned in my photo post a few days ago that I've started dating someone who has two dogs of his own. Well, we're having some issues with dogs getting along and I'm hoping someone might have some advice. His two dogs are up there in years - a 15 year-old dominant, male Jack Russel and a 13 year-old skittish, female pit mix. Chula has had skirmishes with both of them. As she's gotten older, Chula has become more jealous and more anxious. I don't know if it is directly related, but a lot of it seems to coincide with my ex moving out of the house last January. She "guards" my house now, and barks at noises and reflections in a way that she never did when the e…

My girl is soft as a brush as is my boy. But for some reason when it comes to food she is so nasty and I hate it. My boy takes a while longer to eat his treats so as soon as my girl finishes hers she's snooping round him trying to steal his. I always separate them but she got free this time. I punished her telling her no and putting her in the yard but I feel bad for being so firm. Any other time of the day they love each other. I keep the bowls apart and all that so I'm not asking for tips on that. It's just on the very odd occasion she gets close enough to snap at him what do I do? Will she ever learn to be nice?

My male Husky Raga keeps getting himself obsessed with my female Husky Snow's back-end, not her vulva, but her bum. He keeps acting like he would if she were in heat, yet my other male Thor isn't bothered with Snow in the slightest, she's not due another season for a few months yet either, so its all rather confusing. I can't find any information on this, so I was wondering if anybody had any advice or have had their males doing the same thing. Snow is getting really annoyed with him constantly being glued to her backside and to be honest, so am I. But I have no clue why he is reacting like this, I can't stress this enough but Snow isn't in season at all.

Ok ya'll I need some tips and ideas. My dogs have always been allowed on the bed but only until I go to sleep. They know that when I put the ipad down that it is bed time and they hop off the bed with no commands. Well now they seems to think they need to be on the bed all the time and it is effecting my already lacking sleep. Once one gets down the other gets up. During the night I'm waking up everytime I roll over because I can't move and I have to tell them to get down. Then they just jump back up. I know I need to cut all time on the bed but I don't know where to start.
