We've had a fox screeching in the field my house is next to. It was probably a vixen. My pup is 10 month old and ran in petrified. For the last hour he's been scared to go back outside. I've never seen him scared of anything. I live in the country so I'm hoping it does not become a permanent fear thing. We get lots of animals. The fox was practically at my fence calling. My dog is 10 month old now so he's still a pup. Nothing else bothers him he watches thunder, fireworks etc. The fox has really scared him. Anyone else have this problem.

Hello everyone! I'm emergency dog sitting for 3 days and need your advice. My mom rescued a 4 year old female husky, Princess. She is now 6 years old. Bear in mind that she, myself or my family has no experience what so ever with dogs. I also don't live with my mother, so I don't know her *that* well. We don't know her background. She's made 2 other homes that we know of. Here's some information about her: - She likes hugs. She'll roll on her back when she sees you arrive and even if she doesn't know you she will lay her weight on you, like a hug. She bows down her head at 180 degrees sometimes just to lay it on your leg lol. One of the sweetest dogs I e…

Hi -- So I've had a husky (Dakota) for about ten years now. When I first got her I read several articles about establishing myself as the alpha, and for the most part we haven't had any issues over the years. However, we've been spending a lot more time at my boyfriend's house recently, and he and his dog don't really have a lot of "rules" - which obviously confuses Dakota and has been leading to her acting out. SO, we're finally having the conversation and trying to get the dogs on the same page. But I have one question I haven't really been able to find the answer to. I know that traditionally dogs on people furniture is a no-no when establishing hierarchy. B…

Hi all, My husky (8 years old) has a lovely temperament. The only time she ever displayed aggression was when we had my sibling’s dog living with us for some time, and it was always towards the other dog. It was a very stressful time because I had never seen her display any sign of aggression until this dog came into our lives. She was always very friendly around other dogs, but until one lived with us it was a whole different story! Anyway, she’s been back to normal ever since that dog doesn’t live with us anymore. However, she’s normally very playful and gentle with children. But recently, we’ve become an involuntary foster family with 2 little ones at ages 2…

I recently got this dog 9 days ago and for the most part its been a little stressful. First few days he had accidents in the living room and I had to make an adjustment to my plan to decide what the best plan of action was with this puppy. I couldn't put him in a kennel because he'd cry incessantly so for the first 2 days he slept in bed with me and would wake me when he needed to go potty. I tried getting him used to the kennel and then he pooped and peed in the kennel on the 3rd day. I decided to put him in a 5x7 area in the kitchen leashed and with a carper, food, water and toys and he liked it better. He is leashed for most of the day unless I take him outside to go p…

Looking for advice.. I adopted an old husky 2 years ago, he’s now 11and is happy with my 11yr old Labrador. He is going deaf, has some vision issues and his hips are maintained with medication and vitamin supplements. He seems happy and is certainly loved. But! Over the last 3 months he’s become excessively noisy - yapping, howling, whining, talking. All hours of the day 😩 when he comes inside he’s fine momentarily but starts again - generally he’s an outside dog. Our vet can’t find anything physically wrong with him. I work long hours and my kids are at school - his legs aren’t fit for walks, he gets love and attention when we’re home and has bones during the day…

I haven’t posted in quite a bit so here’s an update to Casey’s food aggression and naughty behaviors. I found a highly recommended behaviorist/trainer in my area and signed up for obedience classes. We then agreed after water guarding during break that Casey could use extensive help. He lived with the trainer in her home for 5 weeks, attended classes and participated in Wednesday play dates. He has been home 2 weeks and is a different pup. We still attend classes every Saturday and signed him up for Wednesday play dates for the next few months. He’s obedient, the food/water aggression is gone and he hasn’t attacked Hershey at all. He’s a very loving, affectionate and happ…

My boyfriend and I got a husky puppy and we named her Koda. I love her so much but she is afraid of ALMOST every stranger. I do not think the breeder socialized the puppies very well. They said their kids played with the puppies everyday, and the breeder would feed them but they didn't get any interaction from anyone else. The first day we brought her home was fine. She sort of slept most of the day in the house which we expected due to it probably being an overwhelming experience. We had our two roommates over, and 3 other people that day. She didn't run from anyone just sort of stayed sleeping. When she was awake she would follow me everywhere. I noticed the first …

I'm getting very worried. My 3 and a half year old husky has been snapping at my family, sometimes even me. She started taking food in a snappy way and Sometimes biting my hand, She's always been good with dogs and we got a puppy and they were doing fine. But lately he will be playing and she will grab him by the scruff and start shaking him or grab him by his face and hold him down til he whines very loud. I also worry about the puppy, When he "plays" he jumps on her and makes a very loud snarling sound and bares his teeth, and tries to grab her face, he's only 9 weeks and I don't know if this is normal behavior.

Hi all, I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and one of our male dogs has become destructive while we are out of the house. He has also taken possession of a ball and he is absolutely obsessed with it. This is completely out of character for him as he's usually so laid back. He is obviously sensing the impending change and is a bit stressed so how can i reassure him? I'm a bit worried over the ball possession as i don't want this getting worse when the baby comes. He's 8 1/2 years old so obviously not a puppy! I should also note that my other two huskies seem to be grand, the female is indifferent and my other male is incredibly affectionate. …

Hey, I’m having a bit of an issue where my pup (12weeks this Thursday) is constantly trying to hump my older staffy and my children. She doesn’t try with my older bitch because she will tell her off. My staffy just stands and takes it and even if he does try and run she’s all over him humping any direction she can. Then she tries to hump my children’s legs and if she can’t she then starts to nip at hands and arms. I try to tell her no and remove her from whoever she is humping or biting but then she goes straight back to it, mostly to my staffy more than anything. She has been great in her crate and I do place her in it when she’s like this and she doesn’t make a …

My 5 month old Luca wont stop biting. I am now having him on a leash in the house and when he bites I put him in the bathroom for a couple of minutes. The problem is, he resists going and I am pretty much pulling/dragging him in there. I don't think this is good but not sure how else to do it.

My husky baby (9wk) bites me painfully while playing and after holding eye contact lunges at me and barks. The bites are not teething nibbles but sharp bites. She doesn’t do this to anyone she plays with except me. I’m not sure how to deter this behavior. Saying “NO” loudly just spurs her on and she usually barks and tries again. If I turn my back and just tries to bite my back or my hair. And even the remove her from playtime and put her alone in another room isn’t working. I’ve been trying to consistently for 5 days and have 0 progress. Any tips? Do I just need to wait it out or is there another method i should try?

When I sit down with Maya, wether its at the park or In the vet office, she will bark and whine after a few minutes of sitting down. Is there any way I can train her to be quiet for long periods of time when I need her to be?

So I just bought a 3 year old husky, the only difficulty I've had besides separation anxiety is he plays really rough, I have bite marks on my arm and he often slaps me in the face. I'm more curious as to if this is normal or if I should start to let him know he is being too rough. Any tips, tricks, and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My puppy 9 wks has the attention span of a gold fish. I try removing her toys from the area, using treats, and maintaining eye contact and she won’t pay attention long enough for me to get her to sit. I’ve had her a week and made zero progress. I can’t tell if this is normal for the breed or not. I’ve tried everything I can think of, short (5-10 minutes) training sessions, i’ve tried different time of day, different treats, everything. All she wants is to bite my feet and run around. I’m trying to not let my frustration show, but she hasn’t even successfully done sit once! I get her attention, say sit while doing the gesture and slowly raising the treat in front of …

Maya is 4 and she still isnt pottytrained. If i follow her downstairs in the morning she will go out and maybe go potty, but a lot of the time she cant be left alone for one minute. she will go out and go pee but she will come back in and poop. the door is always open so she can go out, but she will go potty in the house anyways. we have been trying to potty train her from day one but nothings working. the house always smells terrible and she wont stop.

I use treats to train Maya, and it costs a fortune to buy dog treats that she isnt even into, I've had a few people say I can use gerber puffs and yogurt melts for babies for her? I just want to make sure I can ACTUALLY use those without her getting any negative affects.

Hello friends! I am planning to go out of state with my girl for four days. She is pretty well trained at home, she sleeps in her kennel, is potty trained, shes not really destructive... the first stop on our trip is a lake house resort. I'd like for her to be able to swim with us in the lake, and go on a canoe with us but also would like some sort of way to keep her leashed to me because she definitely WILL run off if unleashed.. (i plan on getting her a life jacket but she can swim very well and I will be watching her 100% of the time). What would be the best way to go about this? Is there a type of leash attachment that can hook onto me and onto her so I dont have to …

Well, I guess this is behaviour LOL Went out for a drink last night with a few friends, and got a phonecall from my Daughter to say Koda had "Got out of his crate". Well, that was an understatement Seems he didn't like crate last night. Or the carpet, or the bookshelf, or @Sarahs crochet stuff. Time to get some DIY on the go me thinks.
