Hello! I have been feeding Rea Rachel Ray's high protein Peak series. I usually stick with the beef venison and lamb flavor, but considering keeping the same brand and just switching flavors to keep things fresh since she seems to be bored with it. Is switching flavors a good idea or should I keep it the same all the time? What do you guys feed your dogs? (bonus pic of Rea at the beach from the weekend)

Maomao is a 5y Siberian husky boy. He's been always energized and healthy living with me. However, this year since February, my poor dog suffered from several health problems 😥 , and I'd like to share this long treatment journey... On Feb 15, I sent Maomao to a groomer for a bath and brush. He came home and started to lick his right front paw. I didn't pay attention to his licking behavior when he started that... On Feb 18, he fell once when we took a walk and fell another time when he was walking upstairs...I realized I have to check his paw and noticed a hotspot 😱, so I got a bottle of gel "hotspot remedy" over the counter, which didn't work very well. We had to vi…

We got our puppy at 8 weeks old. He's had diarrhea since the day we brought him home. He was diagnosed with coccidia, which was treated, then tested negative for after. The breeder had him on 4Health puppy, so I transitioned him to Canidae bison puppy. That didn't help. I tried canned pumpkin, no help. He was then treated with 2 more antibiotics (just in case), which didn't help. He was put on Science Diet ID and probiotic, which DID help, his stools went from complete water to totally normal. BUT, that only lasted a few weeks. It hasn't returned to complete water, but it is still very loose. Now he has been put on Purina HA. I haven't given that time to work yet, so we'…

My 1.5 year old husky mix, Shiloh, just went to the vet on Thursday to get spayed. She also got a booster and rabies vaccine, and tick medication. She did really well and has been healing great. Her incision is perfect, no redness or swelling. She is itchy but the cone prevents her from licking or biting at it, so no issues there. However, we have encountered an issue with her attitude. She is normal with people, but now she is snapping and growling at the other dogs, including my newest pup Aura, whom was, just last week, her best friend. We are keeping all 3 of the other dogs away from her for right now because of this as I don't want her to hurt herself while she is st…

Took Halo to her first vet visit with us Wednesday. She has been a bit sneezy and a bit itchy. She did not like the vet exam and had to be taken in the back for them to swab the ear she had been fiddling at over the past few days. Lots of husky shrieks :(. No ear infection but she needs ear drops for 7 days to clear up the irritation without making it worse. She hates her ear drops and fights with us, but we’re trying to get them done as quickly as possible. 4 more days of those. Friday, we find a nice lovely weeping hotspot under her harness - back to the vet we go. They gave her an e-collar (as in the cone of shame) and a topical spray along with a couple of oral m…

Hi, new member I am getting my first husky on Thursday and am really excited for the challenge! She is a 3 month old rescue that has not had the best of starts and has developed a scavenger mentality in her short life. She goes through bins and will hound you if you have food (this is what the dogs trust have told us). I am however curious about treats, more specifically what treats are appropriate for a 3 month old pooch. I want something she can enjoy for a prolonged period of time as a distraction whilst I prepare food, but a lot of the bones on offer are not suitable for babies. I also read somewhere that raw hide is a no-no. I've ordered some deer antlers that s…

heartworms

All pet owners know about heartworm, but what is it exactly? Dirofilaria immitis or heartworm is a type of roundworm that lives in an infected dog’s heart, lungs and surrounding veins. If an infected mosquito bites your pup, it can inject the young heartworm into the dog’s body and cause heartworm infestation. These worms can stay alive inside these organs for many years and reach the size of almost 12 inches. You can’t really protect your pooch from ever getting bitten by a mosquito, but what you can do is protect it from heartworm! Luckily, there are many different pills you can find in stores or online shops that sell various dog supplies and med…

Hello all.and thanks in advance. Were still trying food for our son. But he's stool is like water. I read I should feed raw. Then read that I should not feed raw. He is eating iams at the moment. Because that's what vet recommended. He's very active and plays all the time. As well as walks. But he will eat grass and mulch when outside, so I know they will eat grass of there belly is upset? Any help would be most appreciated thank you.

Hi! This is my first time raising a husky from puppy to adult. I’ve had many many husky dogs 7+ months but my little Kai is only 4 months old. When Kai and I were out training some lady said hello and greeted Kai. She then asked why he had “duck feet”. I was confused and when we got home I looked and thought “man! He does kind of have duck feet??” So I’d just like to ask, does his legs look normal? Are they pointed out unnaturally? Should I be worried? How can I fix this? Will they stay like this? I’ve attached a few pictures from a few days, to see his legs better. 95CA5B9C-A60C-4D6E-B4DF-CB40D4A1D0EC.mp4

Maya is in heat, we have been planning on breeding her for a long time and I have questions I cant seem to get an answer for. Her blood is a little brownish red, And she's been skipping meals for a few days, and is very clingy and wont really leave her crate or my room. Can any one tell me what stage she's in and when its safe to breed her please?

More curious than concerned here. Winter is coming to this half of the world and Mayo's undercoat grew rapidly -- and also falling out at the same time! This is what happened when I fluffed her leg this morning: She still has more undercoat than she did in summer, and it doesn't get very cold here in Sydney; but it's our first winter with her so I don't know if this seems normal. You'd expect her undercoat to stay on until the weather gets warm again?

I have a 7 year old male, who i've had for about 4 years. He came from a stressful, lonely living situation and adjust well to living with me and my other dog (he never tears things apart or chews them like he did with his prior owner). However, since I got him, he seems to get tired of dry dog food every couple months. I change it and he is fine for a while. Now, since around Christmas, I struggle to get him to eat every single meal. I've changed his food, Ive put freezedried raw toppings on it, dog gravy, etc. He is excited and eats it right up for a couple of days, then looses interest. Sometimes, he wont even come in the room when i put the food down. Sometimes he wil…

If you have not looked my other Dog Tyler a Malinios had to go in for surgery to remove to blockages he is starting to recover and like huskys and malamutes the Malinois is a high drive breed think GSD on speed. So he had to have unkown objects removed from his digestive tract 2 of them. Is on complete rest only allowed out to go potty as the risk of him pulling stiches in all the layers of muscle etc and in his stomach wall is very high. if he pulls a stitch he could create a leak and suffer peritonitus so here he is nearly 48 hours after the Op He is in the kitchen i have put a few puppy pads around incase of accidents but so far nothing

Hello! So, this morning I let my dog outside to do her business, and I had to step away from the yard for a moment. When I came back to open the door for her, she had what looked like a feather sticking out of her mouth. She dropped it on the carpet to show me I guess. To me, it looked like the entire WING of a robin. We have a lot around here. No blood, and I found no feathery corpse outside. I found some small feathers by a bird bath we have out back, but that's it. My question is, did she eat the robin (I hope it got away), and if she did will my Xilo be okay? image of the "gift" she brought me, it's probably a little grainy, but if anyone could let me know …

Our almost 8-year-old Mayo doesn't seem to be feeling very well. We're quite worried and at a loss as to what could be causing it. These are her symptoms, in the order of our noticing: - buried her roo tail morning treat instead of eating it straight away + super excited to see me come home; did all the usual running up to greet me with big smile, etc. - but later, instead of sitting by the kitchen child gate and whining for me to hurry up and finish preparing her dinner, she just sat and stared into space + but she's still very excited for food once offered! - ... which she vomited shortly after + still very excited for a walk, and …

one of my dogs my Malinois has been taken into the vets suffering from a blockage, will find out in a short time how he is doing in a short time. I am wondering if any one has had this problem or knows some one who has had this How long do they take to fully recover after having a bowel obstruction removed. I know its serious with high risks of complications. They put him on a drip way before they they even started the Op.

I use a flea spot on currently and ironically put it on last week. Every tick spot on includes flea. I don't want to double dose my pup. Could anyone recommend a tick only repellant. I live in the country and they are rife at the moment. I'm taking one or two off him after walk.

I adopted a Pure Bread Siberian Husky female puppy. (Miley). She was about 2 months old when i adopted her and now she is almost 1. I am a college student so i'm busy often with school and work, etc. but i for the most part do most of what i need to do from my apartment because when Miley is put into her cage she disturbs my other two roommates. She was never really bad at first when put in her cage, she would howl really loud for a couple minutes then she would stop. About a month ago she started going through heat and every since about a week into heat when put into her cage she howls uncontrollably for hours without stopping. I have finals coming up so i need to be in …
