Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum and would like y’all to meet my husky I adopted. He’s 9 weeks and his name is Wolfie. Very active and sweet boy. (Not at times when he bites though lol) we recently got him check at the vet for his 2nd vaccine. He has some hookworms but I’ve been giving him his 3 day period medicine. Anyway on the the diet part. My vet said that he is underweight. He is 12.5 pounds and needs to gain bit more then that. Please if anyone has any suggestion how to fatten him up. I haven’t tried this but I was thinking to mix his Core wellness puppy formula with a Hard Boild Egg. Please let me know thanks.

My dog is a Siberian Husky and he's six years old. I have a concern regarding his condition. At first, he didn't show any problems until recently. When he's taken to a walk for like a mile or two, he started to limp/bunny hop on his left back leg (left hip). I am trying to find a dog insurance that's best for him and I want to know what's his problem with his left hip. Please help.

How often should your husky have a teeth cleaning? To my knowledge, Olaf has not had his teeth cleaned, and he will be 4 years-old this summer. (I've had him for 6 months now.) I was going to schedule a dental appointment for him, but I do have a few concerns. I understand they have to use anesthesia, and he would be at the vet's office all day. I realize this is standard procedure, but I'm a nervous mom, and he's a nervous dog. Has anyone gone through this? Is it routine - is there any need for me to be nervous? Thanks.... Kim

Could it be because he was last day with 3 rescued puppies they wasn't take any vacination still? Could any infection or alergy from them?

So after waiting 5 years to settle here in Canada, we're finally going to a husky rescue to adopt a furbaby. He's currently being transported from California to Alberta as they have a huge number being surrendered daily. Hopefully he will be with is very soon on a two week trial before we finalise the adoption. Assuming he's being fed kibble at present how long shall I wait to introduce him onto raw food? shall I do it gradually or just straight swap. I'm predicting a runny tummy anyway while he settles in with us, wow I'm a newbie at this all over again. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Also is it 2% adult weight per day? Thank you. Sent f…

Hey guys, long time no see. Angel has an operation on monday. She has a condition on her eyes called entropion. Usually its something that shows up at a young age, but hers for some reason has started at 8 years of age! So an operation is booked for monday which will reduce the loose skin and stop her eyelids rolling inwards. Its classed as a major surgery according to the vet and the poor girl will have some patches on her face and be sore for a while. BUT considering her eyes at the moment are so sore she can barely see on bad days I think it will be an improvement for her. So naturally I migrated here, somewhere I feel safe to share my concerns and wo…

We adopted our adorable but super overweight, 7-year-old Mayo 3.5 months ago. She was at a staggering 35 kg (77 lb) at the time, and we were told that wasn't even her heaviest -- the adoption agency saw a 42.8 kg (94 lb) in an old vet record! We put her on a sensible diet (grain-free; treats are rationed and zero table scraps) after and walked her daily. She was eating less but her energy level went up; her weight steadily dropped. Even people at the dog park were commenting on her obvious weight loss. We went back to the vet last week and the vet thinks she's finally reached her healthy size, at 28 kg (61.6 lb)! She'll always have the loose skin around her neck and …

Hello, I have a Husky X Staff, rescued from Battersea two years ago. In the first year we had him, he suffered from an 'interstitial cyst'; a painful cyst between his toes which soon cleared up with some cream and a foot sock to prevent him from licking. We've never really been sure what caused it but are aware that it's not uncommon in dogs so haven't worried too much. In recent weeks however he has been incessantly licking his two front paw pads. There are no cysts - we check them thoroughly and there's nothing at all. They're both just absolutely red raw from all the licking. He has clearly been in a lot of discomfort and the past few days has even been limpi…

Hi, I'm asking this for UK husky owners. Alabama rot is doing the rounds in my area. Not a lot is known however advice is saying wash mud off dogs feet after a walk. Does anyone know of a good disinfectant that is safe to add to the water to wash my dogs feet. I'm not taking him to any areas where a dog has come down with it but it is in my area so I would rather be safe.

Hello to All!! I wanted to post information regarding the "hidden dangers" of "road salt" getting on dogs' paws during walks on roads, sidewalks, parking lots, driveways, in slush, puddles and/or anywhere road salt could be or end up. *Please "wash/rinse" doggy paws after walks to avoid possible severe sickness and toxicity due to high levels of rock salt. Please read article below, and keep your babies safe this winter. Hello, I just joined the group to see if you might have some feed back. I recently took in a rescue forever. He came with prednisone and eye medication as he is going blind due to an autoimmune disorder. The first night he was here I noticed a yeasty Oder like an ear infection but times 100! His entire being smells. He was at the vet Friday and goes back for a biopsy in the morning because now he has a rash/hair loss around his mouth and today when I cleaned his eyes his fur came out to show raw flesh. I hope the vet the rescue uses can help him because I feel horrible. Has anyone seen or experienced this before?

Tennis balls - danger note. Morning all. My neighbour told me of a very scary occurrence - her 2yo GSD died after playing catch/fetch. It got past her back teeth and locked in. Despite frantic efforts she could not remove the object even trying to puncture it ... jammed solid. Her dog suffocated. It was horrendous for both. She trains GSD's in agility etc and this was just through playtime. The vet made it out to her but couldn't remove it and swelling didn't help either. Tennis balls don't last ten minutes with my girl Eski if left with her but, when I do bring them out to play throw/fetch (not catch), Chester returns to my hand, Eski drops them at my feet…

As many of you may know, we have three Huskies. Zoya we've had from a pup, and will be seven later this month. Rohn we've had since Christmas, and is now eight months old. And Eisa, whom we rescued a tad over four years ago. Eisa's age is really unknown. The shelter thought she was three when we got her, but various things have indicated she was much older at the time. This past week, she has been favoring her right rear leg. Late this morning, she yelped in pain trying to lie down. Later, she needed assistance getting up, and would not put any weight on the leg. Trying to walk she also needed assistance. Her leg was just dragging. Called the vet. They were booke…

Hello there Merry Christmas to all of you:) I've been having this problem with my husky for months now! Which is being so picky with food 🥘! He gets board of his food so quick. For example, 2 months ago he wasn't eating his food and I didn't want to change it so he won't get what he wants however I decided to change his food this month since he turned 1 year old [emoji322] and he loved the new food and start eating like crazy and i was happy because he finally start gaining weight! And now it's been 3-4 days since he started getting bored of his food and won't eat it unless he is starving! I'm sorry for writing so much but i wanted to be clear... please if yo…

My 8 month old husky has developed a red rash around his mouth. I’ve taken him to the vet who’s prescribed some mild antiseptic cream and a wash but I’m worried this could be zinc related? Anyone else had this issue please? He’s fed a raw diet. He’s eating and playing as normal and doesn’t scratch it.

it is that time of year and yes dogs DO get it too. As temperatures drop and the seasons change, it’s inevitable that a few folks in the office or a couple of family members will come down with flu. However, it’s not just humans who are affected – our canine friends are susceptible to catching the flu too… What is Dog Flu? This disease is relatively common in dogs and is similar to the human cold – although you can’t catch a cold from your dog and vice versa. Dog flu is often known as ‘canine influenza’, which is a virus that mainly affects the respiratory system. What are the symptoms o…
