Friday the 13th, Walker had three seizures. One at 1 am, one at 11 and one at 3. The morning began early. asleep in bed i begin to hear a slamming sound against my door. I get up and realize walker is having a seizure. Because walker has only ever had one seizure before, he is not on medication for it yet. But, i got him all cleaned up. Lasted about a minute and a half. Extremely scary for the both of us. I stayed home from work and made sure we would see the vet immediately. We got in at 9 am. The vet diagnosed him with epilepsy and gave me a prescription for phenobarbital for his seizures. But since she didnt have any in office, I had to call a pharmacy to pick them u…

Marley is going through one of his "I don't want to eat that" phases again. So for lunch today I decided I was going to give them 'soup'.............. 1 tin mushy peas 2 raw eggs 1 teaspoon Spirulina 1 tin sardines in spring water All whizzed together into a smooth soup with a little added water and a few chunks of sardines added later . Must admit it didn't look that appetizing but ............ Both he and Lunar hoovered it up - and then I gave them a couple of pork chunks and he ate that as well. A year or so ago I came across tins of mushy peas at 4p a tin - Tesco had one of their silly offers on .......................…

Recently Walker had a seize and so I took him into a well recommended vet in the area i just moved to. My mother, aunt, and cousins take their pets here so I figured we would give it a try. I told him about the seizure and how this past weekend walker started throwing up everything he ate and he was unable to poo for about four days straight. He did blood work and some other tests and told me everything was clear, except that he has a start of a UTI. So he gave me antibiotics to help walker and sent me out. Well, Walker got worse, he started acting weird and throwing up more. HE stopped eating everything, even fresh chicken and any treats. I wasn't sure if there could ha…

Hi Everyone-- It's been a while since I last visited. Sarah is six and a half now. Two days ago I came across a small, raised, solid, discolored bump on her right rear flank while back-combing her to get her undercoat out. After determining that the bump was solid, symmetrical and seriously discolored I called our vet, Dr. Strom. He had an opening two hours later and we were there. After taking samples of the lump and examining the cells microscopically, he diagnosed her with mastocyoma (mast cell tumor.) She goes into surgery Thursday, the earliest he could get her in. She has to have a 2" diameter circle of tissue removed for histopathology to determine…

My husky has stopped eating his kibble and he has always been a good eater. He will be a year in October, he's unfixed, and has been an awesome dog. No health issues. We took him to the dog park and it was overstimulating for him, caused anxiety and has been pacing the house now. To make matters worse, the neighbor dog went into heat and has just finished her cycle. In the mean time, I'm struggling on getting my dog to eat. I've changed dog food, tried wet food, I even make his food and he is being extremely finicky. He is acting normal, still energetic, drinking, and playful. He's just a little on the skinny side and I'm struggling to get him to …

Hello everyone, I am totally new to the puppy world! I have had cats all my life and always wanted a dog. Then came Gatsby. He is 5 months and 4 days old. He has been teething and bleeding pretty bad. He still is very playful, but seems like his teeth are hurting bad. He isn't eating his dry food as fast or as much. He'll eat, but not all at once or as fast as normal. Any tips for helping him!! And because I can't resist there he is!

So my 9 month old husky got a bad case of ticks about 2 months ago and I had to start some medication that was given to me from the vet and it worked so well! It's been 2 months and I haven't found not even one. However, I started noticing this weird black mark inside both his ears and I don't know what it is.. I've tried getting a closer look and it doesn't seem like ticks or anything but I don't know what it is.. any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

Hello, my name is Hannah and I am a new member to this forum. I wanted to come here to see if other husky owners could help me with a problem I am having with my own Husky. My fiance, Eric and I recently adopted a 7 month old husky who we named Kovu. We've had him for over a month and he has become the love of our lives. There is something that concerns me about him though. When he first got him we could tell he had been abused and we tried our hardest to help him and he's truly come a far way. But when we did first get him whenever we would give him water he would drink it so fast he would later throw it up. When he does this there is no warning signs at all. It's like h…

Hi new to this forum but I have a 20 week old male pup and Sunday morning he started having diarrhoea (he accidentally got a few bites of some cat food at a friends house so thought this might of caused it) I withheld food for 12 hours then fed him Sunday night and Monday he was fine so carried on with his regular diet and tuesday morning he started with diarrhoea again so again I've withheld food but this time I've only gave him rice and a bit of scrambled egg and seems to be clearing back up so will see how he is tomorrow. Just having one of them moments where I'm racking my brain as to what it could be as he is still on the same food the breeder weaned him onto and…

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me. Every year when the farmers are harvesting my husky gets itchy and miserable so obviously allergic to something that the harvesters kick up. Usually a trip to the vets and piriton and steroids sort her out however it leaves her with a yeast smell for a while. This year I cant seem to get rid of the smell. I have recently changed vets (on recommendation), last time I took her and mentioned the smell they drained her anal glands (she has never needed them doing before but hey, they know what they are doing don't they). I rang them up because the smell is lingering and they said they may need draining again. Now I know that this…

Marley has always been a fussy little 'article' - but since he started having epileptic fits he is far worse than normal. Today - he again did not eat any breakfast - half a chicken carcase, sardines and mince (contains every vitamin and mineral known to man or dog) - just looked at it - then walked away. For lunch he had the following - (please bear in mind hubby and I are vegetarians and I am allergic to anything from the sea): Raw: Beef mince (about a tablespoon) Prime mince - from the best butcher in town Fresh Salmon - good enough to eat yourself - I buy a half salmon cut lengthways - head off and skinned - about four 2" square ch…

Hey everyone As I mentioned on the "hi" thread, we've got a very poorly Blue at the moment, so I thought I'd share his story of the pretty rare condition that he has. Sorry it's a bit of a long one but if it helps one other doggie being diagnosed with this quicker I think it's worth it On Thursday 27th August Blue "fell" off the ottoman that they all like to sit on to look out of the window. We thought that the fall had hurt his back, but as it turns out the fall was the first sign of a rollercoaster nightmare couple of weeks. He was obviously a bit sore and couldn't jump up or climb the stairs so automatically we thought that he'd fallen wrong and perhaps bruised…

On Saturday evening hubby mentioned that twice he has seen Marley shivering quite violently (as if the dog was freezing cold) - but when he called him he got up and stopped shaking. Once on Friday and once earlier on Saturday when I was out. Both times Marley appeared to be sleeping. Yesterday afternoon I was just finishing my salad and as usual both dogs came up to me to see if I had left them a bit of cheese (a reward for not approaching when I am still eating) I went to give Marley his bit of cheese and noticed his head moving like a noddy dog - if he were human I would describe it as Parkinson's. I gave him the cheese and he started to eat it still…

On Sunday Ice started vomiting and had diarrhoea. It was pretty scary as he had total bowel incontinence, poop and blood was constantly dripping from his rear end. Off to the vets he went and they diagnosed him with pancreatitis and gave him four shots! Anti sickness, Zantac, steroids, and anti biotics. The sickness stopped and bowel incontinence too but he was still fairly unwell the next day and refusing food. They said we could pop down in a couple of days if need be and pick up some oral meds for him but due to not eating we asked if he could have them via the injections again so that he was getting the full impact to help him recover. Later on that day he start…

Okay I have an 8 1/2 week old Siberia Husky puppy named Mika. She's been dewormed 4 times by the shelter and she's eating Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula for puppies. I've had her for about 8 days now and for all 8 days she's had diahrea for almost every stool (with a few exceptions). We did have a vet visit where I brought a stool sample and they diagnosed her with Giardia and Coccidia. We received two meds. A powder that we have already finished treating her with and a liquid she is still taking. Her poop is still liquid after 4 days of treatment and she also has white specs in her poop immediately after pooping. There is no movement or signs of life in her pop at …

Hi all! I know, I know, this must be a topic that has been overly discussed, huskies are picky. My question is, does your husky (if he/she was or still is picky) ever snap out of it? Like, does he suddenly not skip meals etc. My husky is 15mo, and he reached 44lbs maybe a couple month ago. However his weight now drops to a mere 37lbs last time I weighed him He feels bony along the spine and hip. Ribs feel fine though. It's just that his tummy tucks in so much it worries me. I know huskies fill out when they're about 18-24 months – does your husky eat more when it happens? He was on Nutrisource for most of his puppyhood until he refused to eat it any lon…
