Hello! I have a male adult husky who is 2 and half years old. We recently weighed him because he seemed a little under weight. He’s always been small and his weight wasn’t terrible (42 pounds) so only 3 pounds under the recommended weight. I do suspect he has worms and I’m taking him to get checked and for meds. My real concern is that I can feel his spine and hip bones. If he’s only a couple pounds under weight, then why can I feel his bones? I’m going to ask the vet if he’s okay obviously. But I want some opinions from others who own huskies. He eats 1 1/2 cups twice a day although some days he barely touches his food, which I’ve read can be normal for huskies.

My girl Freya has a bald spot on her chest, I noticed it whilst bathing her, she hasn’t been itching but it the outside of the spot has what looks like reddish brown dried blood bits in it - is this mange?? Only thing is, she’s not been itching it & her sisters haven’t got it, so I’m thinking it’s not mange as isn’t it contagious?? Any ideas? This is the best picture I can get of it — also she’s wet from a bath.

Hello all! So it’s a long story but I need to change my 8 week old pups diet abruptly. Unfortunately I can’t do it gradually like I wanted. I know abrupt change causes diarrhea. What can I do to help minimize the diarrhea? I’ve heard probiotics help but was wondering if there was anything else I can do. Thanks!

I know what you will all think, from the title, straight away. All huskies go through periods of not eating but they'll not starve themselves. Unfortunately this one seems to be doing just that. All the other dogs are eating and are all fit and healthy. This one will not eat. The owner has tried all types of different foods to try and coax her to eat and she just turns her nose up. She has, very begrudgingly, taken little tiny bits every now and then but nowhere near enough to keep her healthy. She has been checked by the vets and they have said that there is nothing wrong with her, as in blockages or anything that would prevent her getting food down, and she is just bein…

Luna has been very sick, started when I went to get her to move from the shelter so I could let my hens out, she wasn’t keen to move. She did eventually but then refused to go for her walk, very unusual. Left her under the honeysuckle, came home later, gave her a water bowl, 5 minutes later returned to find she’d vomited in it and round it. Eventually decided she looked unwell so took her to the vet who took blood and said all her kidney results were out of whack, gave antibiotic injection, pain relief and sent us home with several different meds. I was up at 5am today and started syringing water into her mouth because she’s not had any or any food nor had she urinated. S…

ok i was browsing a shop looking for dog toys and hit on https://www.poundland.co.uk I found they are selling cooked hambones as dog treats as we all know ham/pork products are bad for dogs worse cooked bones they state on the product info """" Ham bone is absolutely ideal to feed as a treat or reward as part of a balanced diet. """" which we all know is not true I contacted poundland and they basicly said we have never had a complain about these. The fact that Vet addvice is never feed these to your dogs means nothing to them I contacted DEFRA and they passed the buck to APHA who passed the buck again to trading standerds. I think it is disgu…

I've been meaning to post this for a while, we thought it would be helpful to someone at sometime in the future. This is purely here as reference 🤓. The email is a little long so I'll also summarise as well. We wanted to ensure our girls were in good health as they get older, so we looked at getting some natural remedies to help them along. It turns out that some types had an adverse affect on one of our Huskies, they can block the absorption of Zinc and resulted in some nasty issues. All is good now, but as mentioned above we felt this was something that needed sharing, just in case someone else came across it. On a plus note, I was very impressed with the owners of…

Today is a massive landmark for Marley - he reached 200 days without a seizure. This despite the following: 100 Bleeding Ulcers Salmonella poisoning 9 different food allergies we did not know about Devastating loss of his big brother Strange workmen both outside and inside the house for weeks at a time From starting around every 27 days as a pup he had a cluster of five in 7 weeks at the begining of 2018 (from Jan 7th to Beginning March 2018). Since then he has had 3, at 106 days, 108 days and now his landmark 200 days seizure free. WELL DONE MARLEY !

As most of you know Marley has 9 different food allergies - confirmed by blood testing. These are all IGE allergies, (the most severe) which can lead to anaphylaxis & even death: marley hurt NW Lab results - Allervet (2). It appears as if Marley might have inhereted some of these allergies from his mother (don't know as he was a rescue), but others were almost certainly because he was in contact with them (he was kibble fed before I got him) and others whilst he was with me. He is high positive for soya and potatoes - these are the two that would trigger another anaphylaxis event if he ever comes across them again - he is so allergic to them t…

I recently bought a Siberian husky about a week ago and all she wants to do is eat and drink. Shes not even as close to being as active as my husky/shepherd mix so I dont know what could be making her this way. She will just lay by her water bowl all day until I tell her to go outside to go potty. And since I got her my husky/Shepard which is a year and a half old wont eat his food anymore but hell eat wet food. He stills gets all the attention and the vet said he is physically healthy. I'm really concerned and if anyone could help me out it greatly appreciate it

I'm looking to get our Ghost onto a Raw diet as she has always been fussy with food. We've tried multiple dry foods / wet foods and combining them and she'd only have a couple of meals before she wouldnt eat. We've got down to eating once a day, a scoop of dry with a tin of wet (has to be Warbutons) and a small amount of mixed vegetables in her bowl. This has become quite expensive. I would like to start weaning her onto a raw diet as she seems to enjoy multiple foods in one bowl and I've calculated I could feed her for about £2 per day with better quality food and I wouldnt be buying dog food that she wont eat. I've been doing quite a bit of research, but coul…

I have a 12 month Siberian husky named Izzy and I used to feed her till she was full which was about 3-4 cups, twice a day. Everywhere I read online and was close to what food bags said. Then I was told to only feed her 1 1/2 cups twice a day so I started to and she now has a really fast heart beat at random times and is always wanting food. Izzy also has had an increase of not listening and has been chewing more things up. With feeding her 1 1/2 cups per twice a day, she also has a lot more energy and where she just runs and goes crazy. When I was feeding her more, she was relaxed and had a normal husky attitude. Should I start to feed her her old amount of 3-4 cups twic…

KatiAnn Hello! My boyfriend and I just rescued a sweet 18 month old female Husky, Bailey. The rescue told us she had been treated for a UTI not too long ago but was over it. We realized shortly after we got her home that she left little wet dribble spots wherever she would sit. When she took a nap she woke up and had left a larger wet spot. It soon came to our realization that everywhere she sat or layed down she was "leaking" urine on herself. She goes outside for potties and pees regularly outside--she isn't actually peeing in the house, she doesn't even realize it's happening. We contacted our vet over the weekend as we have a great relationship with him and he w…

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone can give me some advise. I have a 8 month old husky puppy who has turned into a fussy eater! I had her on kibble and mix raw food in with it. She was doing fine on that and alway ate it. She turned her nose up at the kibble so I just put the raw food down and she ate fine. I use different flavours of the raw meat to keep the taste different but Now she turns up nose up at both the kibble and raw food. I tried another kibble last night and she ate it and then I put down her raw food and she ate that. But the next morning put the same down and she turned her nose up! Help! I’ve tried numerous kibble and can’t find something she …

Hey guys. I'm a new Husky mom. Her name is Jubilee and we've had her since she was 5 weeks old ( I know that's really young but the mom had 15 puppies and stopped taking care if them). She is 6 months old now. We all know the typical husky noises, well she doesn't make those. Instead she makes grunting noises when she plays and whimpers whenever she wants something. Is this normal? The owner we got her from said she is part wolf, but her lack of typical noise worries me.

Hey everyone ! I recently found my other half so I decided to get him home. Summer. Initially i thought that he is too little (6 weeks old) and it might take some time until the pigments of his eyes will get much defined, but today, while we were playing, I saw that I might be really wrong. I went online and i found out that he might have heterochromia. Does this affects the way he sees ? Is it a normal thing or a bad thing ? From what I researched, it is not a big deal, it's just a beautiful feature my love has. *I tried to take better shots but that's all I can get from him 😁

Hi, I am wondering if it's a good thing or not to pluck the ears of a husky. In the last two years my husky (10 yrs old) has been experiencing problems with his ears on and off. He has received antibiotic pills and ear spray. But the infection keeps coming back after a few months. It made me wonder if plucking the ears could help. We have followed the vet's instructions and finished the antibiotic cures. But after about 3 to 6 months it's back again. Anyone experience this? Would plucking help? I have also read cleaning the ears with apple cider vinegar helps, but so far I haven't seen any effects. I clean his ears with a cotton ball dipped in the apple cider …
