So my pups are turning 10 months on the 27th. We have tones of food allergy issues. Started switching to Taste of the Wild Stream (fish) But, has potatoes in it. 😓 Now we plan on traveling in the next few years and feeding raw will be an issue. (But If their allergy test comes back they way I think it will I may have no other choice). Plus I think I caught my pups in time for ZRD.... *that will be another post of THANK YOU GUYS!* I bought a bag of Turkey jerky. It cost $15. I swear it only contained two 4 inch strips 😵. So I was WTF. Then I remembered, I used to dehydrate... I am now buying my own Lamb, turkey, and beef and may even do fish to dehydra…

Hi All, just a little guidance. My baby is turning 1 year old next week. He’s happy and healthy. My only issue is that he always seems hungry. I feed him 1 cup of food twice a day. Sometime I drop it to 1 3/4 per day if I give him little bits of chicken or eggs or meat. But that’s not too often. I find sometimes he gets bored with his food so I add little things to the mix every now and again. But I feel like if I give him another cup he’s def gonna eat it. I know huskies generally don’t require as much food as other brands but he’s been getting pretty much the same amount of food since I got him in February this year. Does this seem right? Im wondering if that’s the…

So Nacho is at it again. My delicate boy has yet ANOTHER issue coming up. (Poor little guy!) He is obsessively licking his paws. He’s done it before, and a vet told me it was allergies, but that vet knew nothing about huskies. However, with much internet research, I figured it’s not a bad idea to rule things out. He is on grain free food, we have eliminated chicken and gets a mostly fish and potato based diet. I noticed paw licking in the past and it decreased when removed the chicken from the diet. Before we saw the great improvement with Zinc supplementation, I assumed that all the coat issues he was having were allergies, too. Is it possible he has allergies and zinc d…

I’m pretty sure my sweet baby boy Cooper (5 yrs old) has Zinc Related Deficiency. He’s had chronic dirty ear issues, which currently look clear, but now he has crusty spots around his mouth, plus what appears to be a limpoma on his left thigh, and a lump on his chest (that the vet said is just fatty tissue). From what I’ve read on here, it could be ZRD. Please fill me in on what to do now. I’m terrified seizures are next. please help.

Hi, As some of you know, I have a husky puppy who is 10 weeks on Saturday. She had food about 7ish last night and at 9ish she brought food back up. It was in the shape of a sausage. Then at 11pm she did the same again but with less food. At 2am she vomited properly and brought bile up/acid then again at 6.15 and 6.30am. I was going to take her to the vets as was really worried. I made sure she was drinking plenty and gave her some white fish and rice. Throughout the day she’s had small meals of rice and chicken breast. She’s never vomited all day and went from not being herself to being back to pretty much her usual self as I wrote this. Her poo was fine as I kept ch…

Hi everyone I am the proudest owner of dave my 6 year old husky cross german shepherd. He's my baby in every sense of the word and has been since the day we got him at 11 monthd old. The problem is he has developed a sore in his right paw. I obviously took him to the vets which did general checks and said it was an anxiety sore caused by excessive licking...he asked at the time which was 4 months ago if any big changes had occurred which they hadn't untill I found out a week later I'm pregnant wot h our first child. So this is what I'm assuming has caused him to feel anxious...we gave him a month of antibiotics and he had to wear a cone and the sore healed lovely...unt…

Hi everyone! I have a 9 week old female puppy. She was weighed at exactly 9 weeks and was 4.55 kg. Kindly let me know the weight of your puppy or when your dog was a puppy at whatever age months or weeks you can recall and if that weight was under, average or over. Please also indicate whether you have a male or female. Can anyone provide a week by week healthy weight range for a female and male puppy seperately? This will hopefully serve as a guide for everyone raising a puppy. Thanks!

Hey y'all, I haven't been on the boards in a long time, but I have a mystery health question. Chula has always struggled with allergies/hot spots. Every summer she gets them, usually on her paws, sometimes on her lady parts. They are yeasty and smell not good. Switched her food to Orijen a few summers ago and the lady parts infections went away, at least. That said, I boarded her for five days in September and noticed when I picked her up that she had a patch on her hind leg, under her butt floof, that was red, bumpy, and losing hair. The hair she did have was pinkish in color. Figuring she'd licked herself while stuck in the kennel, I tried topical stuff I had…

Hi, Luna is nearly 7 weeks old and was wondering if you recommend a mainly wet with a little bit of dry food diet? Also should we be feeding her the same brand wet food or is it ok to switch between brands? Thanks Amanda

Ever since I had Marley he has been a finiky eater - and every so often would not eat at all - then would bring up bright yellow bile (LOTS) and then an hour later would happily eat again. This happened around every 10 days to 2 weeks. Yesterday he was going through one of these days - not interested in even a treat. About 8pm he went out and I saw him eating grass so knew he would be sick within a hour or so - at 9.15 I heard him wretching in the hallway - tried to get him outside - he vomited up the grass in the kitchen - but there was no bile this time - I got him outside then started to fill up some jugs of water in order to rinse the side of…

I know I’m a total newbie, but I found this forum about huskies as I was looking up zinc deficiency and ZRD. I think my little boy has zinc deficiency/ZRD. At one point he shed all his guard hairs and was just undercoat. So with the blessing of my vet, I started Zinpro. His guard hairs are growing back a little, so that’s a definite improvement. He also has the skin rashes that get all scabby on his nose only right now. My boy is a 60 lbs and I give him the recommended dose for his weight. While I’ve seen a big improvement since we started zinc, he still seems to get the rash on his nose and his guard hairs haven’t grown back completely. I was hoping there might be others…

I just ordered these for Jax. He’s 2 years old and just recently was diagnosed with epilepsy after having random seizures one day, 3 seizures in 48 hrs. After doing a lot of research and reading, I believe he may have a zinc deficiency also. I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this specific supplement? If so, is it good? thanks!

Hello everyone, This will be my first post here on the forum, My boyfriend and I recently rescued an 8 year old husky fluff from a shelter. We've had him a little over a month (adopted August 2nd, 2018), and he has had 12 very severe and scary seizures with us, and one episode that we think was a *very* mild seizure, where he sniffled, sneezed, went limp, and was coming in and out of consciousness. He was surrendered with absolutely no medical records, so we had *no* idea what we were getting into, or that he was so old, because the shelter thought he was no older than 6. We've since been able to get them, and there's only one brief mention of seizures when he was…

My Husky is having a hard time standing and sitting, but once up he walks fine. Going to the vet for his shot once a month, was cured for an infection of sorts but just noticed after a lot of shedding his front side looks very reddish now. 2nd picture is a nose cut he just got...again. If anyone sees something please let me know thanks.

Hello everyone! My little boy has now nearly reached 8 months of age so I weighed and measured him again after not really paying much attention to it besides watching his figure and food intake. He now has a shoulder height of 21.6 inch (55 cm) but only weighs 19 kg. People keep telling me he seems kinda skinny. He is very active after all but eats normal. He seems small for being a Husky GSD mix but is the biggest out of his litter of 9. Both his parents were average size but I guess he is still growing so I shouldn't be too worried? He is being fed raw 750g a day plus vegetables etc. Should I increase his intake or just keep adjusting whenever he has a growth spurt…

I am cutting down on the variety of meats & fish I feed my boys so I have simplified my spreadsheet showing which vitamins and minerals are in which meats. - Marley is just getting too fussy and its costing me too much money, so as soon as he is well I am switching to this simplified diet for them. Lunar's meds alone cost me over £100 a month - which is a lot to find on a pension. I thought it might prove useful for some members on here. This is meant mainly for those who are thinking of switching to raw feeding. For vitamin C - Liver, Kidney and Heart all contain Vit C. Remember that as long as they get all vits and mins in one week they will …

Hey guys been busy last couple weeks so need a catch up, Lunas paw is sore again, same paw but it’s one of her toes. She was chewing at it and I heard her whine so asked her what was wrong then I saw it. Put Vaseline and a sock on it along with the cone of shame, she kept turning round and round at the corner of the living room, I couldn’t get it on for laughing, my sons laugh doesn’t really help either, but I got it on and instantly felt so bad just by the look on her face. Hello! I was wondering how many cups a day should I feed my puppy. I recently changed his food from Beneful Healthy Puppy to Pedigree Vital Protection Puppy. The thing is the amount is in grams and I don't have a scale for that. With the old food I gave him 2 cups daily. But this one is different and I don't really know how much to feed him. He's 4 months old and weighs approximately 24 to 26 pounds. Thank you for your help! https://uk.pedigree.com/feeding/feeding-guidelines
