hey guys bit of a sad story with a happy ending, i was walking my two ruffians on a meduim walk along a brook when i heard a small mewing sound, well echo hates everything whilst shes out side so i finished the walk and after the dogs were back in the house i went back to the brook to investigate!!!!!. i found a carrier bag that was tied up but had a hole in it, and sure enough the mewing was coming from inside, there was only one kitten in there and i couldnt see any others near there. my mothers mate steph has recently had kittens so i took the one i found who i called crouton there to see if her cats would adopt it and look after it. Her cats rejected th…

Having Henry here has reminded me how much I miss having an offlead dog, just ambling through the fields/woods not having to worry about stepping over leads or untangling them from trees Its just so.... relaxing! As much as I love my fruit loops to bits, and wouldnt change them for the world, there are other breeds I adore as well, mainly border collies So would you ever have another breed? if so what ones?

i cant believe what i heard today when i got in, well my sisters puppy staff jumped off the sofa, but landed with her leg under her and her head kept going, well we took her to the vets, they immediately took her for x ray and  said when he fell she had crushed her elbow. we then asked what could be done, the vet send she is going to need a big operation to fix it, but they said it was going to cost £3000. here's the sad bit, because my sister is unable to pay the huge costs the vet said the only option was to sign her over to the vets and they will do the operation but then they will have to sell her. …

Lets Talk Gsd 1 2 3

Out of nowhere I've been obsessively reading about the German Shepard breed and I think I have to admit I found my new favourite breed. Not that the husky isn't... But I think I found something that really fits with me. And it's only taken me 10 years to figure that one out. As a child I always loved the GSD breed. But upon reading about them I discovered they are not easy dogs nor dogs for people with no experience with dogs (which I was at that time). So I left it with that, thinking GSDs weren't suitable for me. But than I accidentally stumbled upon the Siberian Husky breed and have been involved with them for quite some time now. They were my first introduction to…

Well originally i wanted a GSD. the boyfriend said absolutely not, as he thinks their ugly. (it hurts my heart to hear such a thing!) he wanted a weimaraner and i just don't like them and that's actually how we both went to our other favorite breed and wound up with a husky. well luka's 6 1/2 months now and around the time he turns 1 we would love to get another dog. immediately i wanted another husky but josh isn't sure. i even suggested rescuing one so we don't have to go through the puppy stage again. Don't get me wrong i love luka and he was precious when he was little but it was so much work. he's suggested a rottweiler and a blue pitbull. He wants somethi…

Coyotes as pets 1 2 3

So, as most of you know my thread over here is dead, and I'm been flooding it with relevant pictures of it, and I stumbled on this: It got me thinking... Coyote ownership? I know you can keep a wolf but people seem to hate coyotes, call them ugly etc... So I found this page: http://www.coyotefacts.net/pet_coyote/pet_coyote.html Sure enough, there are owners... I'm not sure why I didn't look at it before but there are. I personally think the coyote has wrongfuly earned a bad rap, much like the wolf is considered majestic and beautiful now - That's only after it was hunted and killed out of most states... I …

Ok as I was looking through photos I came across two of a little dog I use to have named Draven. Draven was a mix breed and I know exactly what he was a mix of and will reveal it later. Lets see if anyone here can guess what he's mixed with, I will say he is a mix of two pure bred dogs. He wasn't very tall, maybe a foot tall and most likely weighed 20-30 pounds. He was kinda chunky/well muscled. Now without further ado the photos ... let the guessing begin Puppy: Adult:

I think i'm starting to crack... I haven't been able to stop thinking about the idea of getting a ferret. Not that it has overshadowed my desire to get a Husky, but i'm just looking ahead at all this time I will have...and as much as I love my bird, I want a fuzzy pet I can play with too. I have tried to deter myself by looking at all the bad points, but well...it's not working. Someone please talk me out of it

Since I keep tropical fish and have been doing for a few years, I have picked up some good pointers (mainly from my cousin who breeds different kinds) on how best to look after your tank and keep it in tip top shape. So as we have this forum now for other animals I thought it would be nice to share some of the things that should be done with them to keep them nicely. Waterchanges This is bar far the most important part of looking after your aquarium. A 10-25% water change (I usually do 25% each time) should be done each and every week, followed by something along the lines of TapSafe treatment or another dechlorinator. This will remove harmfull crap …

Was wondering what other pets you guys had. Besides my dogs, we have 3 rabbits that belong to my nieces and nephew. 3 ducks that are not pets and about 23 chickens in our half acre land. If this doesn't belong here feel free to move it.

We had these decorative clay barrels in our yard and a feral kitty used it to gave birth three kittens, two B/W and one ginger. Probably born this morning at 4 because Diamond suddenly howled and begged to go outside at that time this morning. Today at about 8 AM I heard a noise coming from the clay barrels and my maid said Diamond is trying to knock them over. Apparently he caught an eye on these little guys! I know Mama Cat for as long as I can remember. She just roams the neighborhood and because I see her often I named her. Plus, Two-face often hangs around my house to steal food/water from Diamond's bowls (that useless dog LOL). I did all I could to shoo he…

So, I'm thinking for my next dog I might get a GSD until I can get another husky. But, I'm concerned over the MANY health problems they face. Is it all from poor breeding? Or, even if you get your pup from a responsible breeder that shows her dogs...they could still develop these conditions? I've always loved GSDs, but I think what puts me off is their health problems. Are there any other breeds similar to the GSD (temperament, looks, exercise requirements, etc) that don't have as many health problems?

Taking Sherlock to the vets tomorrow morning (my Chameleon) His joints are swollen and he isn't himself and not sure if I will be bringing him home tomorrow or not From what I've look at on-line it's a form of Chameleon gout, I don't know how much if any pain he is in as you just can't tell, but will be speaking to a vet tomorrow and going through all his husbandry, if it turns out i could have prevented this - which I'm guessing I'm going to find out it will break my heart This vet is well established an considered an expert reptile veterinarian so he's not cheep but I don't care - I want what's best for Sherlock and really hope I don't have to say goodby…

Some people will already know this having followed my threads in the past, but I am now a registered NMC (National Mouse Club) breeder of show quality mice in the agouti and cinnamon varieties I've had them for a while now; I bought a trio consisting of one cinnamon buck and two agouti does from one of the most respected breeders in the fancy and within the last week or so the two does have both dropped litters (after a mere 3 week pregnancy ). These are the original three: The cinnamon buck The two agouti does (the one on the right is particularly big and stunning!) The doe on the right had her litter first, they are no…

Hello everyone well I'm planning to get a GSD for some reasons I liked it I do not know why.... Well I just want to know the attitude of a GSD? since gsds have this impression of killer/wild dogs. ( which I know they aren't) I want to hear peoples opinion on them are they agressive? are they bla bla bla? Thanks!
