Hiya Well Eika is not been on her food for a while now, some days she'll eat it, some days she won't. I think she's getting a bit skinny, especially her back end, haven't had her weighed for a while but anyway, i digress. I was wondering what the James Wellbeloved pouches were like, if they're any good for them etc... http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/dog-supplies/dog-food/canned-dog-food/james-wellbeloved-pouches/james-wellbeloved-pouch-turkey-adult-150gm.html the ingredients are listed there...but anyway Adult Pouch Ingredients and analysis: Turkey meat, rice, peas, carrots, sunflower oil, sugar beet pulp, linseed oil, calcium carbo…

Kona has been limping on her back right leg for more than 2 weeks, but the strange thing is she only limps when she has been laying down a while and then gets up. When I take her for walks or she runs around in the yard I don't notice her limping at all. I haven't taken her to the vet yet because I thought she was getting better, but she may have overdone it the other day. Kona never cries and I can touch any part of her leg and foot and it doesn't seem to bother her. I am not really sure what to do or what the vet can do...anyone have any experience with this/ or ideas?

A few days ago we took Maya to Petsmart to get her socialized with other people and dogs and on the way home i noticed some white flakes in her coat. I brushed her once I got home and got more flakes in the brush. Could they be stress related (shes very timid around other people), or something she got from one of the other dogs?

We've started crate training the puppy. He is happy in his crate, he will now eat, sleep and play in there, no problems, which was the first few steps. He also will NOT poo or pee in there, which is the ultimate goal, right? However, we're having a problem. He wont "go" outside either!! We've been sitting in the living room with him in his crate, we're very close to him, watching a movie, and he's playing in there slowly getting more restless - we KNOW he has to go. He whines a bit, but every time we take him outside the house he stands there with his tail between his legs. However if we left him IN the house he'd go on the carpet. I'm baffled. It's…

I'm so proud of my girl Sky, she's at the vets at the moment recovering from giving blood to hopefully save another dog's life. I was on a list at our old vets in the UK in case they ever needed blood, but were never asked. Today however, was the day the phone call came. They needed a quiet, placid dog over 20kgs. I thought of Diesel, but remembering how freaked out he was at the vets when he went for his jabs, probably not the right choice So Sky went in, she's behaved impeccably apparently and I'll be going to collect her in about an hour. Next time you go to the vet with your dog, ask if they can be considered as a blood donor. You never kno…

Hello Everyone! I am brand new to this site and need help! My boyfriend and I recently adopted an 11 month old husky female from the local animal shelter. We've had her for a little over a month. Within the last week and a half we have started having a problem with her being an escape artist out of the house. When we first got her she was a bit of challenge, but appeared to be getting slowly better and now this trend of running away has begun. We have a crate and have been attempting to crate train her, and she wants NOTHING to do with it. She has found ways to get out of her crate to the point that we have had to to tie the pannels because the smarty pants learned that i…

Housetraining 101 By Paige Bluhm This absolutely will work if the rules are followed exactly. We are not aware of one person who has tried this and failed to have it work, but you must be dedicated to doing it precisely as described. If it doesn’t seem to be working, read the rules again and try to see where you may not be following them. When followed closely, this takes about 1-2 weeks, with follow ups that are ongoing. So here is the deal: The Rules of Prevention all boil down to not giving the dog any opportunity to go in the house at all. This means: if the dog can not be watched by you, the dog is in a crate, gated off in the ro…

Do you know those bags you bake your turkey in? Well Tuesday afternoon Dakota got in the garbage and ate turkey fat and all that grease from the bottom of the pan. I'm not sure if there was bones in there or not. Anyways I can't tell if he ate some of that bag or not. I've been freaking out because I'm very worried about him. He has gone to the bathroom twice since this happened and I did not see any pieces of the bag or anything. he is acting the same as he always does eating, drinking, playing. Do you think he's in the clear since he went to the bathroom twice and everything seemed okay? Or do you think it could still be digesting?

Has anyone fed it? I just bought some of their 'wolf king' type. The first ingredient is bison, followed by fish meal. Maddie went nuts for it. It has 22% protein and no corn or wheat (rice bran). Any thoughts?

My choice of dog food is science diet large breed. Because it has the most nutrience that i have found, and less of a filler. I still have yet to research the advanced fitness vs. the large breed.

Ok so after another short walk I have decided to try something new with Chewy as he has decided that he will pay no attention to any of my usual training methods while out walking. I think some of it has to do with the biking as we did go yesterday in the morning and he of course does pull a bit when biking and its quite natural as I understand it. It doesnt bother me that he pulls a bit while biking as it comes with his longer strides. However, todays walk was an utter failure, lol. We didnt even make it 2 blocks before coming back as he was straining and pulling so hard that even my very determined strength was not enough. I have decided that although I am no…

For my Spitz I use a head collar (gentle leader) and a retractable leash at a fixed length when walking in the city, when we hit the trails I switch the retractable over to her standard collar and unlock the retractable. I was wondering if I am using a martingale/half-choke with my husky, if it's safe to use with the retractable leash UNLOCKED? I don't want any harsh snapping motions or slip-outs. Thanks!

when i had my first husky pup (nalla) she would howl to let us know she needed to go potty. and when we got nukka they both back tracked with their potty training and had a few accidents in the house. well now they are both doing great with their potty training and sitting by the doors and howling to let us know. we havent had any accidents in the house for the past 2 weeks. (knock on wood) im so proud of them.

So I was at the local Publix Supermarket and I saw Ice Cream for dogs... One was Vanilla and the other was Peanut Butter. I had to get it! Needless to say Kino LOVES the Peanut Butter one... we haven't tried the vanilla one yet. Its really funny though because the first time he tried it he had about half of one then had a 10 minute sugar rush followed by a very pronounced sugar crash. He hasnt had the same reaction since but we have also been limiting how much he eats.

Hi everyone, I am looking to find a good collar that will help me with Garres's pulling me when we take our walks. Currently I am using a "choker".....I HATE it! I feel sooooooo mean.... My vet recommended a "gentle lead"....I have never seen one, and was wondering if it was a good one to try or if there is something that works better.

Hi everyone. I have recently done the nursery for the new baby. However, every time Garres comes in and has access to the nursery, he pee's EVERY where in there.:icon9: This is very new for him. He still gets lots of love and attention, and the only change is the new room. I don't know what to do. I don't want to isolate him and not let him have free roam of the house as he has had, but I can't handle him peeing in the babies room. Please, any advice would be great and appreciated.

well shadow has the runs again it seems to be every couple of weeks now that he is getting them nothing has changed (diet ect) but he still cant stay solid for long, we have changed his diet in the past because of the runs, he is now on arden grange and seemed fine on it for well over a month but now is back to the runs again, he had had them about 5 days so far, going to starve him for 24hrs i think to see if that will help, if any one else can give me any advice im willing to try anything but raw food doesnt work either
