Hi all, Ive got it all set up for Chewy to be neutered in 2 weeks and I have a question. I have never gotten a dog fixed before, only a cat, and he didnt exactly have a good reaction after his surgery. Is there anything I should know before Chewys surgery? Can I expect some bad behaviors?? Im only slightly worried but Chewy is a great dog with a great temperment. It would really worry me if he does what my cat did and "acts out" for 6 months. How likely is that??

I have a 5yr old bitch, that i have had for about 6weeks. At the moment she has a 400g of "Pedigree Chum" and about 2mugs "ish" full of "Vitalin Active" dog biscuts mixed together at lunchtimes. And i am lucky for her to eat half of it. She weighed 19kg when i got her and she now weighs 20kg, so she is putting weight on. I am feeding her the same as what she has always been feed as far as i know??? Are single huskys like this or is there anything that could be wrong? Please be honest and gentle lol Cheers Baz & Daphne the Sibe x X x

Zoya recently had to take a trip to the nasty doctor (that's what Zoya calls him). She was shaking her head, and would yelp in pain once in awhile. We first noticed, she would shy away whenever we attempted to pet her around the ears. Really did not think too much about it, until the yelping started. Upon further check, we determined it was her right ear. So off to the vet. I took off work, and the vet clinic worked her into their full schedule. The doctor looked into both ears. Everything was normal, no swelling, no redness, no discharge. He then asked to shave the fur from around the inside face of her right ear and in front of the canal area. Sure e…

Raising 2 4 mo. old puppies is a handful, but when they both have little health issues it makes it even more stressful! Jade has had runny watery eyes since we got her. It hasn't gotten worse but some days its better than others. I am going to ask the vet when i go in a few days but I was just wondering if this is common or if she has allergies or what? Kona on the other hand has soft stools that look a little mucus-y (i know, gross) They just started getting mucus-y but they have always been a little soft. They were both treated for worms and giardia when we got them, I have read that mucus is could be a symptom of giardia. We are going to the vet on wed, so I wil…

Hi all, This is Sarah's husband Glenn. I'm writing hoping that you all as more experienced Husky Owners will be able to help. I've had dogs before but, that was growing up as a kid so obviously mum and dad did the health stuff with the dogs and us kids just did the walking, playing, feeding bits. Essentially, as it has been explained to me Nukka (our fur daughter) occassionally experiences a sort of loss of coordination if she has made herself tired. I haven't noticed it directly but, Sarah has on a few occassions and I promised I'd ask you all about it in case you had any ideas you could feed to us. Thanks in advance. Glenn

I dont know what's wrong with Saskia! Her mouth is wattering like mad! It's sort of foaming as well. She chewed a teddy to bits earlier and ate the tail of it... She threw that back up. I put her out for a pee then but she had the runs and she was being sick. I brought her in and she wasn't herself... She was laying down and didn't want anyone 2 make a fuss of her. She laid underneath my legs. When she got up there was a wet patch on the floor from he mouth, evrytime she moved the was bit's dripping. I've been wiping her mouth ever few minutes. I put her out for another pee then to see if she nedded one and i spoted prawn peeling's where she does her buisness... My n…

Is the BEST thing I have ever bought for my dogs! (well, becides the Furminator of course haha). Kai's speedy eating has changed dramatically all in one day! He went from eating an entire cup of food in like 30 seconds, to taking well over a few minutes to eat. The first time he tried it he was sliding all over the floor trying to get at his food, he took a second to look at it, then tried again, this time trying to smash his face inbetween the bumps. It was SO funny! I plan on taking pictures next time he eats. He thinks it's a game now, which is fabulous by me, it makes feeding time fun for him! If anyone has the same problem that I did of dogs eating too fast, I would …

Having a problem with Damien, seems every week we find a tick or two on him. We have him on some multi flea, tick, and heart worm prevention but I fear its not working. Does anyone have any recommendation on tick prevention? My guess is there coming from a bunch of trees we've had cut down and removed.

She is going to the vet tomorrow! When I first got her she ate well, drank lots but had the squirts. Now about a week later she is really timid, will not eat or drink, and puked twice last night. I was sleeping in the bed beside her kennel and could hear her stomach growling like crazy. Then she puked; it was a white foamy puke with nothing in it at all... almost like water. I went out last night after she did her thing in the back yard and took a look for worms... sure enough there was a single white worm about 3 inches long sitting beside her stool, it was dead though. Nothing else out of the ordinary though, just no energy, seems really timid. Any ideas of what I may b…

My Kona and Jade eat everything! Or try, i am constantly telling them "drop it" and picking the rocks and plants out of their mouths. Is this because of a nutrition deficiency or are they just curious puppies? I'm not sure what else to do besides making them drop it and let them know it's not ok.

About 6 months ago, Myshka was nosing in the garden & scratched her eyelid, we took her to the vet & got some cream & the scratch healed up. Last week, the area where she had scratched came up in a black scab, so we booked her back in to the vets - over the next 24 hrs, the 1 scab became 4  The usual vet said on the Monday she didn't have the equipment there but Myshka needed a skin scrape to see what was happening now & booked her into the main head office clinic the next morning. Last Tuesday, we took her but Myshka wouldn't let the vet & nurse near her eye to take the scrape or hair plucks so we had to book her in to be sedated. The e…

We are currently feeding our pup Willow on a very similar food to 'Gusto', which was recommended by her breeder. I am just wondering what food other Husky owners feed their pups and dogs? Willow quite often has diarreah and I wondered if this was because she is a puppy, or whether it is the food we are feeding her? She also has very bad breath which I assume is also down to her food, I have given her a chew which is meant to improve this smell so watch this space! Thanks

Question for all pet owners who have crate trained their pups. My pup is being crate trained to help him pee/poop outside. Whenever he barks/whines/cries I take him out to the yard and let him do his thing. He almost always takes a piss each outting and will poop 2-3 times a day under the same circumstances. Issue is, he's crying every other hour and I have no clue how to distinguish if he's just lonely and wants to play or if he really needs to go. This is becoming an issue now since I wake up 3/4 times a night just to let him out. He's had a few incidents in his cage (even though I have a barrier in there to limit space) which is why I'm fearful of letting him cry it ou…

Im looking for a food which I can take camping with us and will keep for 4 days for my boys and I have thought of maybe trying the Nature Diet as it looks like a "commercial" version of the BARF diet which would be ideal. I have seen this around before and have heard a few others that have tried it and said it is really good for their dogs. Just want to see if anyone else has tried this and do they know if it would keep for 4 days. http://www.naturediet.co.uk/productsUSPs.html Thanks guys

Jealousy??
by Kaiya- 8 replies

So Kiaya seems to be a bit jealous of Nahla at times and I am curious how to handle it. It happens more so with me than my wife, but Kaiya has always been a little bit of a daddys girl anyway. My wife is also around both dogs all day at work where as I just see them in the morning and evening. During the day at my wifes work they are in separate kennels but next to each other. When I get home from work, both kids are happy to see me, but if Nahla comes running up to me, Kaiya will tackle her. It doesn't look like dangerous aggression, but its apparent that Kaiya doesn't want Nahla getting to me either. After dinner, I also take Kaiya for a walk, been doing this since we b…

Izzy is tough enough to brush as it is, she absolutely hates it. I'm able to get almost her entire coat everytime, however the fur around her neck is very thick, almost mane-like, and she developed some pretty thick mats behind her ears and a few where I apply her frontline on her back. Any suggestions other than cutting them out? Know of any shampoos or conditioners? Thanks.
