how do i go about teaching kira to heel properly?? she walks ok on her half check, but still pulls sometimes, especially if she can see another dog, and i want to do something with her that will teach her to focus soley on me (if thats at all possible) i read one of Becs posts in an old thread which gave me this idea lol Oh and i think we are making progress with her jumping on other dogs, she still pulls desperately towards them but only jumps if they move really quickly towards her, but if they're relatively calm she just sniffs them

Took Zoya to the vet clinic yesterday for her annual check and DPL (distemper-parvo-lepto) vaccination. We also took along a few turds for the poop spin machine. Well, it seems Zoya has hookworms. The heartworm med she's on is supposed to prevent these worms, that's why we went with this particular brand (Iverhart Max). The vet clinic will contact the drug manufacturer on Monday, and then we will be reimbursed for the six month supply of heartworm meds and the cost of deworming. So Zoya is on a potent dewormer for three days. Then in three weeks, again for three days. And then two weeks later, the turds go on another ride in the poop spinner. Zoya has sh…

Thursday night i took Eika for a walk (in the rain) and all was going fine, then on my way home i had her walking to heel really well, then i felt the lead start to wrap around my wheel, and as i was going reasonably fast i didn't have time to stop it doing it. Anyway, i had to unclip her, then we have a connector between her collar and harness which i wrapped around my frame so i could untangle the lead. Well managed to get it undone, just as i did Mikey pulled up on his way home from work, we had a quick chat then as he was walking to get back in the car i heard the sound of metal scraping the ground...I hadn't clipped the lead right. She luckily ran straigh…

Kenai has floppy ears, as you can see in his pics I posted. We were told he's 8 wks when we got him, he would now be 9 wks and purebred sibe. Most pictures I see huskies ears are up. Do you think he could just be a late bloomer? Could there be something wrong with him? Just curious to know. Thanks.

So we took Kona and Jade to the vet yesterday for their final puppy and rabies shots. I had no idea that the rabies vaccine could have side effects. Luckily our vet mentioned this to us. Our poor Kona had an allergic reaction. her face swelled up. her eyes were so puffy she could barely see and her mouth was swollen to. We had to take her back to the vet for a steroid shot and benedryl. the steroid injection made her sooo thirsty, so all she did was pee all night, and the whole ordeal gave her diarrhea. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Hi all, Hope you are all well i just wanted a bit of advice, i'm going to be taking Ice to my parents house tomorrow, and my brothers dog will also be there, now they have met once before when we first got Ice, in May, Ice was 5 months old at this point and my brothers dog was a year and half, they got on ok, and it wasn't a problem. However i just want to make sure i do it right again, and just wanted to know what would be the best way to re-introduce them, my brothers dog is half rottie and half american bulldog, he's a very placid dog and gets on with other dogs, but they are both boys and neither have been castrated yet, so i want to reduce any male testos…

Ok so I really need to know how to get Nukka to "leave"... we went for a walk with my walker dog this afternoon and in between her usual naughty pavement hoovering she nearly gave me 2 seperate heart attacks.. once where we were in the middle of crossing a busy road and she stopped to grab a chip and refused to move and nearly got all three of us run over and once when we were passing by a tree and there were berries all over the floor and I knew some of them were ewe tree berries which are very poisonous and she ate something and I couldnt get it off her quick enough... turned out to be a bit of dirt but shes freaking me out and making me have to stick my fingers in her …

since we have gotten nukka she has been a great dog but she is afraid of men. my fiance will come up to her and she will pee herself or poo herself. and i have beeen trying to work on her with this and its not seeming to work. i took her outside this morning to go potty with nalla and they both went to the bathroom and started to play and so i figured they was done (about 10 min) and i came back inside and nukka was pooing on the floor. and i didnt know what to do. it was loose because since we just got her we switched her to a better food. (the prev owner was feeding her blue diamond which is like mcdonalds for dogs) and so my fiance and i caught her on th…

This should make for an interesting discussion. Picture the scene. Both the dogs absolutly stink because they have been enjoying themselves in the mud and water at the park, so they need a bath. Kaiser: Kaiser is first and runs upstairs with his gracefull bouncyness eager for the first run. He's in the bath filled to around 5 inches with water in seconds and loving Sarah washing him down with the shower, the attention from Louise (my daughter) giving him the occasional treat for being good. Shaking water all over Sarah and loving every minuite of it. One very clean very playfull little puppy. Kimba: Now comes Ki…

Hey everyone, Was wondering if anyone had any ideas/advise on this... Nukka has recently started having mini hyperventilation episodes.... the first time it happened was a few days ago, she was asleep on the sofa and suddenly started hyperventilating... it sounded like a sort of panic attack so as she stopped quickly with me strokeing her I just figured shed had a bad dream, then this morning I gave her the signal that we were going out on a walk and she got really excited and started doing it again but again stoped quickly... now shes asleep on the sofa again and just did it again its like she forgets to breath and so has to breath really fast and heavy to co…

Our 7 month old girl, Mishka, has really bad diarrhea. Sorry to be so descriptive, but it's literally spraying out! We have changed her food over gradually to Orijen Puppy recently, but the changeover was finished 2-2 1/2 weeks ago, so we feel it's not likely to be the problem. We have not noticed her eating anything she shouldn't have out on walks, although this is possible. We did feed them both some tinned sardines in sunflower oil on Sat lunchtime. The diarrhea started last night(Mon), so is it possible it's the fish? I would have thought it was too far apart, but I'm not certain..... We have reduced her food do…

Hmmm ok......I feed both my boys the same food and make them sit and wait before I allow them to eat it. Kimba dives right in but kaiser has a sniffle, munches a few bits then saunters off until Kimba's finished. Now for some reason, Kimba always leaves a few stray bits of kibble in his bowl and kaiser dives right in there when Kimba's walked away and eats whatever's left of Kimba's food. I stopped him doing this for a week and he didn't eat so i've now tried adding bits of his food from his bowl to kimba's bowl when Kaiser cleans up Kimba's leftovers and he eats it Any idea why he's doing this apart from being a stubborn little shite? lol

well let me start off by saying i work 12 hr rotating shifts for police station, i work 3 days week then 4 days the next,i refuse to keep my three dogs in crate for 12 hours or let them free in home for 12 hours.the crate would be so boring ,and of course how would they use bathrom or eat or interact with eachother.so while at work i put them all out in my very secure fenced in yard. they all have there own dog houses, i put out gallon buckets of ice water in the yard , at least 3 of them, and of course their food bowls, some toys ,or shall i say there toys are over the yard.and of course there are holes everywhere, thanks kodah!there are no poisonus plants that could harm…

Hey guys, Just a quick query. Kodi is 9 months now and still not house broken properly. When we are in and it's a nice day we leave our back door open and he goes outside, and if the door is shut, he will bang it to let us know he needs to go (although not all the time). The problem is at night. We have never crate trained him (although he does have one where he eats, etc) as our Shar-Pei has the run of the house and we didn't see it as fair. We still need to put paper down for him, although to give him his due, he does go on the paper. Sometimes he has a temperamental stomach and runs out of paper, and then he just goes wherever. We have tried reducing t…

Hey everyone! I am new here, I own 2 huskies. One female 4 years, one male 1 year. I have read many times about the RAW diet but for several reasons, I just do not feel ready to put my dogs on that. At the same time, im tired of commercial food. I notice my dogs having digestive problems and I do know what is in a lot of that food and I feel like im killing my dogs. I want to prepare them home cooked meals. Can someone help me out? I barely know how to cook for myself and Ive hit a dead end with research. Many home recipes say to include oatmeal but the more research I do the more I see you should actually stay away from that. …

Hi all, Took Sasha and Bailey to the dog park this evening and they were happily playing with two Staffies until some German Sheperd cross came in. One of the Staffies who is a pup about 5mths old started barking and lunging at the dog and the owner removed the staffy. The owner of the sheperdX moved his dog away, however the Staffy pup went back and started barking at it again. At this stage Bailey decided to go and have a look so I quickly went down the hill to remove him as the owner of the ShperdX was restaing his dog as it was trying to sttack the Staffy pup. I didn't get there fast enough as Bailey went to sniff the sheper…

Hi, hope someone can help. We adopted Meeka a gorgeous 3 yr old male husky a few weeks ago. We had no problems with his food at first and would come away from the other dogs bowls if you said no. The last couple of days he has become aggressive and very possesive. He tried to go over to another bowl on Wednesday and would not leave it. My husband went over to him and he snapped at him, I got up to remove him and he went for me cathching my hand (no blood loss!!!). I put him on the flooras he would not let up and would not let him up till he relaxed, then it was all over although he knew he was wrong. we ignored him for a time then I called him o…

Hi there! I have never owned a mountain bike before and as I was putting it together the directions say I have to set the tention so it switches gears. To be honest, usually i dont have trouble with directions, but this time Im so confused. lol. Can anyone help me figure out how to set the gears properly so I dont have to just keep it in one gear all the time? The breaks are good but Ive got it in the fastest gear and if it has to be in a specific gear then I need it to be in Mid gear, not too fast and not too slow. Can someone direct me how to set it that way?
