I hadnt thought about nail trimming yet until earlier today; what do most of you do to keep your huskies nails trimmed? I've heard those rotary pet trimmers are junk.

Hello All! Luna, our beautiful Husky girl, rescued us back in July and has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is approximately 20 months old, extremely sweet natured, and generally a great little girl. She came to us already potty trained, and has fairly good manners in general. I am wondering tho if there are resources for training a "young" dog instead of a puppy, as I have found tons of reading for training puppies. She knows not to beg, she sits on command most of the time, and sits before walks to get her leash on, and before eating. She still pulls when on leash tho, and has recently begun to chew up things in the house. We've gotten…

Hello all. I have a question I need help with. Dakota is 20 months old and pushing 60 lbs. He is exercised on leash with me anywhere from 3 to 6 miles per day, and I take him to the dog park for off-leash play maybe every 3 weeks (several days in a row). Question: What exactly are raised hackles a sign of? Aggression? Insecurity? Dakota often raises his in the dog park while playing and even while playing in the back yard with my friend's two dogs that he sees and plays with every week. He has never been agressive or snappy, and he does his share of being both the chasee and the chaser during play with other dogs (he didn't even mind getting his back…

Hi all, My Bailey has started to limp after sleeping or laying down for a long period. After he gets moving the limp isn't visable. I have spoken to the vet and they said just to keep an eye on it. He is happy to put weight on all legs so that isn't an issue. I was thinking of resting him by not taking him to the park or for walks for a few days just to rest it. I may of been over exercising him too as Sasha needs a good run at the park or a long walk so Bailey comes along too. Bailey is 5.5 months will be 6 months at the end of December. Any advice please.....

I would just like to know how you all feel about crating your dogs? I have one that we used when they were 12 weeks, but would like to start crating them at 5 months. Is that going to be hard to start now? I had both of mine eat drywall today. That freaked me out! I thought they would be much safer in crates when I can't be there to watch them, that way they can't hurt themselves or ruin my place..well when I'm not around anyway.

I know huskies don't really bark, they more woo and howl. But Haley barks. Very loud. And very often. It's not when we have people over, or when she hears noises. Instead she comes over to us and says "woof", sometimes quiet and other times really loud. The problem is, we have no idea what she wants when she does this! If she's in a talking mood, she woos and talks with us, so it's not that. She has food and water in her dish and can eat when she wants. She has lenty of toys to play with, she has Kahtadin to harass if she wants to play, she goes on a long walk every night rain, shine, snow, doesn't matter the conditions. We play tug or ball with her each night (…

right this maybe a bit rank, but im really worried about my pup, shes been with us for a week and a half and hasnt had a hard poo since we got her. shes been wormed last week, that made it go solidish once, then we took her too the vets because her poo was just water and she was getting de-hydrated and got some medicine to settle her stomache. so this made it go moosey but now its back to this is this normal for the pup?

I never give my 2 milk as I know huskies can be lactose intolerant, but why is it that we can give them cheese as treats, training aids, etc. Is it something to do with the cheese making process breaking lactose down or something? Only thought of it today as I gave mine a piece of cheese each but warned them away from my glass of milk ....

I know that sibes can be notorious for being picky eaters and our Brynn is the queen of that. Probably since she was 7-8 months she's been going through times that she won't eat. We feed our sibes raw mountain dog food, supplemented with kelp and fish oil capsules and raw eggs. They also get raw meaty bones. Well Brynn stopped eating that, so we tried plain raw chicken leg with back attached, which she ate for a couple of weeks. The she stopped that. I've tried making my own ground meat food with various things in it. She refuses organ meat now, she used to eat a little when she was younger. (she's now about 17mo old) We even went to dry food (I really did not wa…

how much / many kidneys do you feed your sibe/s? I got some the other day for the first time (good for me as raw meat & fish turn my stomach ) & thought I'd try the dogs with it as they enjoy chicken wings, etc. Diesel wolfed it down, which surprised me being a picky eater, but Myshka took it into her bed, sniffed & sneezed at it a few times, then rolled & lay on it as if she'd found poop out on a walk! So I guess only Diesel will be getting it but how much do I feed him? How much how often? I know it can be rich for them so I don't want to overdo it or not give enough .......... Thanks..........

Hi all, As u can see from my status i have started putting raw into my 3's diet! I know i made a fuss at the start but just thought i would give it a go. My first try was Rabbit, i did video it but cant seem to upload on you tube, will keep trying tho cos puppy is sooo funny! Scooby was the only 1 out of them that worked out to stand on it and strip the meat, she is sooo clever! The other 2 just bit n bit n chewed and crunched... 2 b honest it was a bit gross! I'm now onto chicken wings, the only problem is that Mushu swallows them whole! I give it 2 him n he gets into it chewing and stuff then as soon as he thinks he might be m…

Well my car broke down and Dakota is running very low on food. So I had to walk to the store in front of our home. They don't carry good dog food up there just that cheap sh*t that we don't buy. Since i have no ride off the mountain I had no choice but to get him that crappy food. I went through trying to find one that at least had meat as the first ingredient but guess what not one of them does . Anyways my questions is do you think he will be okay on this food for a week or two until I can get off the mountain to get his normal food?

Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone on here can help answer this. I have a 14 month female Husky who seems to be slightly underweight in that I can clearly see her bones protruding next to her tail. Also, when she takes deep breathes, you can sometimes see her ribs. She is a highly active dog and I'm hoping that I just need to put her on a food that contains higher calories and might be more suited to an active Husky's needs. Currently she's on Nature's Variety - Lamb/Oatmeal (24 Protein/16 Fat, 409 Kcal/Cup). I plan on rotating her over to Acana - Sport & Agility which is 33 protein/22 Fat - 4650 kcal/kg (460 kcal per 250 ml cup). I'm also look…
