I need some tips....Tuff has become OVERLY needy the last 4 months or so. He thinks I need to have a hand on him 24/7 or I don't love him. It's becoming a problem. I can't do this anymore, no one needs that much attention. Anyone on any ideas on how to break it? He gets plenty of attention, play....I'm not giving his sister more attention that him. He's always been a lil needy but it's on a whole new level these days.

Our new Husky, Luna, will lay at the foot of the bed with me, or she will lay in bed with my wife, but not both. If my wife is in bad and Luna is laying on the bed with her, Luna will just get up and move off the bad as soon as I start to get into bed. I don't have to move her, or command her - she just will get up on her own and move off the bed, usually to a padded chest that is at the foot of the bed. Any ideas why she would exhibit this behavior?

However she is just as determined to not be brushed, I want to get her to enjoy it, any tips for long term Husky owners as I have only had her two days and treats dont seem to work, she bucks like a peeved donkey. Also please dont be concerned I have had dogs since I was a child and I am now 35, had a rescue for over ten years of all types, just normally treats during brushing work but for Alaska not so much.

Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, I’m new here but thought this would be a good place to ask questions! I have a 2 year old male, who has been an excellent sleeper since he was a puppy (our breeder taught us awesome tricks for sleep training) lately he has been acting completely normal during the day (playing, eating, napping, etc) and at night when it’s time for me, my husband, and our German Shepherd to go to bed, the husky decides he needs to climb on top of us and stand on our pillows and paw at us. Normally he will do this for about 10 min then get off the bed and fall asleep. Last night he did it all night and did not actually fall asleep until 5…

Hello everyone, This is going to be long and have many questions as I am new to the forum and new to owning a Husky. My little girl is 13 weeks old today and the past few weeks she has been more and more “playful.” However, by this I mean she has been more interested in nipping at my hands, arms, and feet rather than her toys. Occasionally, she will even bite down harder if attempting to move away. I signed her up for a puppy schooling and she starts this weekend, but the school is basically just me learning how to train her with the presence of other pups and the instructor. I feel like she wont listen very well for multiple reasons. The few dogs she has encount…

OK here's a great start, I just found out the dog isn't food motivated to commands by rewarding with treats. It just won't work. So can you all brainstorm me with other methods for positive training? Other than human non verbal face and arm positions.

Ok this might be a weird one. I am a newish (10 months) owner of a husky. I have had a Japanese akita (deceased) and also 3 GSD X Japanese akita (kids to deceased akita) so I'm not exactly new to a larger breed of dogs and what it entails to be a responsible owner. So far my husky is coming in amazingly the others accepted her into the pack (one being like a mother to her) no problems there they get on fantastically. her training is coming on brilliantly, she is fab on the lead, recall is amazing! Commands such as stop, go, heel, sit, stay, paw, fetch, leave, all the usually basics she has mastered like a pro she is great......(noisy that's another story but GREAT…

My daughter had her miss Harley spayed about a week and a half ago and now she is very aggressive towards her other dogs. She did have to go in for antibiotics due to an infection, but that seems to be clearing up. The other dogs will just walk past her and she will attack them. Any advice or suggestions out there?

Hi everyone, I've been having this problem for my Husky at certain moments in my short time with him and I'm starting to get worried about it. King has started growling at me and the other two puppies (they are yorkies) in the house when eating treats or playing with toys. I first noticed this when he was about 3 months old and he would attempt to eat the other puppies food. The first time he ever growled and snapped at me was when I attempted to take him away from the food. This happened twice until I stopped allowing him to even go near their bowls. Now, for the past two weeks or so (he's 4 months now) I've noticed when the other pups try to play with his toys he will g…

My 5 year old sibe is still a puller - which comes in handy when we’re boarding but when I wanna go on a calm walk she’s a nightmare. Anti-pull harnesses don’t work, and I don’t really want her to be taught not to pull in a harness because I want her to pull when she’s got her x back one on and the skateboards out. So I got her a head halti, and it works wonders - only problem is she fights to get it off - she paws at her muzzle to get it off - sometimes succeeds - but I put it right back on, but she paws so much that she cuts her mouth. It doesn’t seem to hurt her, but I don’t want her injuring herself. Any ideas on on how to get her to accept it??

Hello all, I have a 4 month old name Bailey. House training has been super hard. Bailey goes out 20 minutes after meals, playing, sleeping etc... but we go outside to the potty spot for a good 20 minutes if not longer she will still go to the bathroom again after we come in. I’ve tried positive reinforcement which I’m still doing but it’s getting harder and harder specially since she has been escaping her crate to roam the house when I’m not there. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hey all, I am 20 years old and I just adopted my first Husky. I have owned dogs my entire life and this the 3rd dog I am raising from the time she is a pup. I have successfully crate trained both other dogs but I am having troubles with my new little one. She seems to be having anxiety issues. She wants nothing more than to be around people, give kisses, cuddle and play. She does not bite people and she is not afraid of meeting new people. The issue I am having is if she is in the crate for more than 30 seconds she goes insane. My roommate, was taking and only exam and said she cried for an hour straight while I was in class. In the week that I have had her she ha…

Hi, I’ve had my puppy since she was 6 weeks old (I know that was too young but didn’t know until after). She is now 6 months. I love her to bits but since day one she has had a problem with biting. An example she will come up to a cuddle and after a few minutes she will start trying to buy my hand. Even if I’m just sitting still. She does not listen and won’t stop. I’ve tried, toys, moving away etc. She does it a lot through the day and when she wakes up in our bed etc. I’m really at my wits end and it’s getting me down. I don’t know what to do. I thought it was because she was teething but all her adult teeth care through now and the bites hurt. To the point where I…

Hi everyone, my husky, King, (still a puppy-3months) is currently going through what seems like a angry stage in his life. For the first few weeks of having him potty training seemed to be going good, he would have his accidents here and there but for the most part he would use the bathroom outside and for maybe a week or two straight he hadn't gone potty in his cage what so ever. Fast forward to now and it seems like he's trying to take over the house. He will pee literally minutes after coming in from 10-15 minute walks, I even tried taking him out for 15 minutes (he used the bathroom), bringing him in for 5 minutes, and taking him back out for a couple of minutes and w…

So Kira is now 19 weeks old. At 16 weeks, we started housebreak training her. We employed the "How to Housebreak your Dog in 7 Days" method. She has not gone poo in the house since, but we are having increasingly difficult piddle issues, and her peeing in the crate with the door open while staring at us issues. We still maintain the same schedule, with the addition of water available at any time. She sleeps fine through the night, except that twice this week she had gone pee and absorbed it in her coat before she was let out in the morning. When she is being let out, or right after coming back in, she will either pee in the kitchen or zig-zag walk and pee wi…

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and could suggest how to make it stop. Theia is constantly grabbing her brother’s throat! (This started after her mouth surgery. I had to take away all their chew toys. I just let them have some of them back today after she started getting really nasty) To the point it is making him cough and gag. This morning he threw up a few times and is doing a lot of mouth smacking and heavy panting. They have always played this way but it has gotten really bad in the last week. Sometimes she will listen to commands when I yell release. I also threaten to muzzle her. But other times she shacks and tightens her grip. Mor…

Just got a new 2 month old Husky named King! Being my first time training a Husky, I'm having some problems with training him different things. Would be great if anyone could give their 2 cents on any of the following points; 1) Having a hard time getting him to walk on leash, he doesn't pull to the point where I'm having to speed up, but he does a bit. What he does A LOT is simply stop and won't move whatsoever. Any help ? 2) Doesn't like to be in the crate very much. I've tried making it home to him, putting his food and water in there and even toys. No matter what I do he cries a lot especially at night 3) Potty training him is going okay, but he does p…

Hello, It's me again with questions 😁 So, Odin likes digging (so that is normal and i don't mind him getting dirty). But two times while digging he found something small and alive that he ate in 2 bites, i only heard a short squeak and done.... Now he's addicted to digging and the other day while I was out with him and the neighbor with his dog, he didn't play with the dog like usually but he was focused on digging. I went to him and grabbed him by the harness to get him away from digging so he goes and plays with his friend. That was when it happened, Odin for the first time growled and bit me lightly. It wasn't a full bite but it was harder than his "pla…

Hello. I have a male and 4 year old Husky that has been with me since he was a baby. We lived in an apartment for 4 years and 2 months ago I had to move to another apartment in another location. The previous house had a small countryside where few cars and people passed by but all knew him well. The present one is more like a city where he cannot stand people who doesn't know and tries to escape from everything and everyone. He's very scared and I'm worried that he can become aggressive when he is actually so gentle. Besides walks for him are not comfortable and pleasent as before... Could you please help? I'm desperate. BTW he always wore a leash outside since …

I've been told by a couple of people that puppies often eat their own poop right after eliminating the waste. Is this common among Huskies? Any way to stop this behavior? Also, our 13 week old male suddenly stopped pooping outside last week. He will still poop outdoors when he needs to go out side after midnight, but has pretty much stopped going outside during the day. He will pee, but that's it. He will bite his own leash and shakes it side to side violently and will refuse to go in the direction I'm trying to get him to go. He will often just sit down, looking off in another direction. After about ten minutes, I start to head back to the house, and he does …
