So I know that the standard thinking is that Huskies do NOT get along with cats, and have that unfortunate tendency of wanting to hunt and kill them. But as a cat owner who absolutely adores the Husky breed and would love to add one to my household, I have to ask... is it impossible? I have read of situations where Huskies have been properly acclimated to the presence of a household cat and that with consistent training they can be taught that the cat is part of the “pack” and not a creature to hunt. If anyone has any thoughts on this (other than the standard cautionary tales, I’ve already read plenty of these) I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

Poppy loves to jump on anything she can find; her balls, her toys and unfortunately other dogs. She will take off and try and land on some dogs; and when she doesn’t do that she is clearly very bossy. She will sniff the other dogs and then put her paws over them - which makes them go crazy most of the time - understandably. Due to the pandemic she hasn’t been around other dogs much; but during the summer this meant that either she got along with the other dogs or it turned into a fight (not a serious one as I pulled her away). I can’t figure out if this is her trying to dominate the other dog or she is just wanting to play and they take it aggressively…

Hello everyone, please excuse my bad English... My girlfriend and I have a Husky named Bolt and he is 3yrs old, we have a big problem. Do huskies usually destroy stuff when they are left alone; jackets, shoes, doors, pillows, sometimes he climbs on the kitchen counter and drops few plates When we are home he is pretty calm, but soon as we leave he starts howling (i know thats normal with this types of dogs) but his howling is litterally like crying, mixed with barking a whining, and after few minutes after we leave he immidiately does something (ripps a pillow, or antyhing he finds, he saddly broke the doors few times) I dont wont to keep him chained…

While waiting for my puppy to get old enough to bring home, I have been downloading and watching video clips of husky puppies. (about 60 so far.) I am struck by the incredible tolerance of the mothers. From birth to eight weeks, the little guys get increasingly stronger, more active, with sharper teeth. They torment her incessantly, but she seldom growls or snaps at them, instead just nudging them around. Hope I can do as well. Truly inspirational.

There is extensive free information on the internet to assist with new puppy training. Most of it is common sense, simple, and positive reinforcement. It requires time, patience, and consistency. I will not take my puppy to obedience classes. The only thing they might assist me with is socialization with other dogs, and there are numerous dog owners that routinely come by. If your dog has not been trained as a puppy , you no doubt have a far more difficult job.

Hi, I'm new and wonder if someone can help? I have an 11 month husky called Hugo - he's a very nice, friendly dog, but we have a couple of behavioural issues with him which I want to resolve. Over my week and a half Xmas break I spent a lot of time with Hugo, and we seemed to bond a lot more. As a result, he's much better behaved around me which is great. However, his behaviour around my partner has seriously deteriorated. Its like he sees me as the boss, but no longer respects her (he used to respect her more than me!) she's not working at the moment (COVID) so she's with him all day. We just adopted a 9 month old Husky female, over all she’s a good puppy for her age and it’s obvious her previous family did work some what with her. The problem we’re having is she suffers from horrible separation anxiety, no matter if we just leave the room, or attempt to put here in the kennel of which she’s never used before. We are well seasoned husky parents, but our last girl was more on the independent side and preferred being left alone than wanting constant attention. If anyone has advice please share if you would.TIA

Hi all Unfortunately I’ve been having problems with Astro since my baby arrived home He’s been guarding her from Koda. It started off with low growls every time Koda went near her crib in the living room, that escalated to him snapping at Koda, and today he he went for his neck quite viciously. Even when they were both upstairs and Baby was downstairs Astro was staring at Koda I just don’t know what to do. Do I wait and see if it gets better and risk something happening? Hi everyone, I would love some advice and tips on how to help a few problems we’ve been having with our husky pup. We started crate training him by making his crate a ‘safe’ place. Having a comfy bed, toys, blanket and feeding him in here. He’s perfectly happy sleeping in his crate with the door shut and at night but during the day, as soon as we leave the room he screams for ages! Hello! I picked up a puppy from a breeder on November 23rd that was 8 weeks old, 18.1 lbs, and approximately 85% husky and 15% wolf (father is full husky (55lb, 24" tall); mother is 70% husky, 30% wolf (80lbs, 28" tall)). I just want to keep my dog safe. I am looking for any and all ideas. We adopted an 18 month old about 6 months ago. Not my first Husky, I was aware that separation anxiety was something to expect and thought I was prepared. Brought Milo home when I had a week of vacation, ran every day, and worked on crate training gently with the hope of giving him free run of house in time. Hello, My husband and I have a very active lifestyle and both have outdoor jobs. We’ve always had large dog breeds and recently adopted and rehomed an 18 month old Husky (Koda) who loves being outdoors all day and fits perfectly into our active lifestyle. He’s a neutered male and is brilliant. My 8 mo. old female Siberian Husky has suddenly developed a fear of wooden foot bridges. Our favourite walking routes the last 6 months have been on paths that take us over 2 wooden footbridges. She never had a concern with them until 2 weeks ago. She freezes when we approach the general area and digs in and backs up refusing to budge. I have tried to motivate her with treats but she will have no part of it. I am afraid she will back out of her collar and get loose. I have stopped trying now as every new occasion strengthens her fear. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Okay so i just got a new husky puppy 3weeks ago. She is now 11 Weeks old now. And whenever i go take her for her little 15min walk she would legit LAY DOWN Either in the MIDDLE of the street or in the grass and i have tried SOOOO MANY METHODS. does ANYONE else have this problem and or know how to fix this??

I live rural so I do get foxes , deer and hare run out in front of me. I'm sure they lay in wait 😮. Anyway my pup who's a 10 month rescue is finally walking ok. Once he get a scent hes a complete pain dragging and pulling. I stop dead which is difficult in slippy mud and I walk the other way but he is a nightmare. Any suggestions for a strong prey drive. I try distraction method but hes not interested if bambi or Mr fox come along. Hes a big lad and at 35 kilo I'm sick of being pulled over. I put him on a slip collar and soon as he gets sight of an animal hes a nightmare.

I adopted a new husky couple of months ago. I've been walking my dogs separately. Separately they are great. As soon as I walk them together they are a nightmare pulling, ignoring me etc. I walk them on a harness with a coupler. I even tried a leash on each hand also one on a belt other on leash. Any advice. At some point I need to go out on my own with them both and at present its impossible to walk both together.

I've had Lexi (grey) for 4 years, she's 9 now. She's a rescue and wasn't socialised and didn't like affection when we got her. She's made a lot of progress and she's made a few friends at the dog park too. She still doesn't like all dogs but quite often she is friendly to new dogs. Hello, I recently rescued a 5 year old husky. i have 3 other dogs ranging from 2 years old to 10. He assimilated well with the other dogs, but i am having one issue. Firstly, my yard is not fenced so when i take him out, hes always on a leash while my other dogs are off leash. i walk him around the 1 acre property to let him potty, all he does is pee and mark. My girlfriend and I adopted a 7mo male husky last fall, he's now approximately 16 months (they estimated an April birthday). 60lbs, big boy with an amazingly sweet temperament.
