I don't know whether or not to get a companion for my boy Koda. Koda is such a good boy, honestly the best dog. Yes he has Husky traits (luckily both my husband and I have grown up around the breed and have experience), but he's such a good boy. He is a lovely boy to have around, isn't destructive (as long as he isn't left alone), sleeps all night (sometimes he doesn't want to get up in a morning), walks nice on the lead (though this changes if he sees a squirrel or a pigeon ), is great with my nieces and nephews, and we can take him anywhere etc etc. So I don't really want to upset this, or upset our lives by adding a second dog as we are always so busy at it i…

Help please! My pup, Koda, has been sleeping in a crate at night since we got him at 9 weeks, he started off in our room but we moved him over to his own room a few weeks later. He would wake up a few times during the night needing to pee and poo so we would take him out, but this stopped when he turned 5 months and he would sleep from about 11pm till 7/8am without crying and if he did cry, a quick ‘shh’ would stop him and he would go back asleep. He’s now nearly 9 months old and for the past week or so he’s been waking up crying and howling between 3-6am. Good morning everyone. I really need some advice. I've had my 2 year old husky since he was a baby. He's never been around other huskies/other dogs before, and the few dogs he has been around has always been really small breeds. My wife decided to get a 5 month old female husky. By natural instinct the 2 year old male is trying to mate with the 5 month old female. I've been trying to ease them together, but it always ends with him on top of her. I really don't know what to do. I can't keep them separate for the next 1 ½ years till she's ready to have babies.

Hi We have a 5 month female Husky puppy. She is great and so far listens and follows instructions (apart from mouthing and jumping). The one problem we have is mouthing. She has never bitten but we are trying to stop the habit so we do not allow it by saying no and withdrawing the hand (it starts if she wants attention). However she is snappy when she is unsuccessful. It's the snappy bit that worries me. So I managed to stop the mouthing but now I get the snappy. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there, A week ago I adopted a husky from a family member who is moving countries and cannot take her. I initially was resistant because my tenants have a cat, but I eventually accepted for two reasons; she has lived with a cat before with no problems, and the cat (and tenants) will be leaving in a few months so if necessary we can keep them apart until then. So far it has been going really well! She's settled in really quickly, I absolutely adore her, and she fits my lifestyle well (I walk and hike a lot). So, my girlfriend and I just got our Husky at 8 weeks old but we are having a hard time training her to potty in the correct places. She uses a pad sometimes in the house for pee and whenever we walk her she’ll pee outside. She rarely poops outside though, as soon as we bring her in the house, she runs to the bedroom and poops. We need some training tips. I know you’re suppose to be praiseful and use treats to get hood graces but that doesn’t seem to work too well most of the time

Hi Everyone, I adopted my siberian husky, Kira, about 6 weeks ago. She is now 15 weeks old and is such a sweetheart. She was doing so well in her cage every night not making any messes and noise was at a minimum. In her first 5 weeks she never made a single mess in her crate. The past 6 nights, every single night she has pooped and then layed in it causing me to start every morning with cleaning the entire cage and then give her a bath. My little puppy, Sienna, is a 10 week siberian husky female. We got her when she was 8 weeks old. Sienna has her own little house on our balcony. Throughout the first week, we used to occasionally let her into the house, but mostly just stayed and played with her outside. My female husky came heat & separated her from the two males. After about a week the 7 year male & his 1 year old son out of know where started fighting. The bitch is getting desexed at the end of the month but I can’t afford to do the males at the moment. The bitch is no longer on heat but the males now keep going to fight. Does anyone know I can get them to stop. My household is on edge all the time.

So I know that the standard thinking is that Huskies do NOT get along with cats, and have that unfortunate tendency of wanting to hunt and kill them. But as a cat owner who absolutely adores the Husky breed and would love to add one to my household, I have to ask... is it impossible? I have read of situations where Huskies have been properly acclimated to the presence of a household cat and that with consistent training they can be taught that the cat is part of the “pack” and not a creature to hunt. If anyone has any thoughts on this (other than the standard cautionary tales, I’ve already read plenty of these) I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

Poppy loves to jump on anything she can find; her balls, her toys and unfortunately other dogs. She will take off and try and land on some dogs; and when she doesn’t do that she is clearly very bossy. She will sniff the other dogs and then put her paws over them - which makes them go crazy most of the time - understandably. Due to the pandemic she hasn’t been around other dogs much; but during the summer this meant that either she got along with the other dogs or it turned into a fight (not a serious one as I pulled her away). I can’t figure out if this is her trying to dominate the other dog or she is just wanting to play and they take it aggressively…

Hello everyone, please excuse my bad English... My girlfriend and I have a Husky named Bolt and he is 3yrs old, we have a big problem. Do huskies usually destroy stuff when they are left alone; jackets, shoes, doors, pillows, sometimes he climbs on the kitchen counter and drops few plates When we are home he is pretty calm, but soon as we leave he starts howling (i know thats normal with this types of dogs) but his howling is litterally like crying, mixed with barking a whining, and after few minutes after we leave he immidiately does something (ripps a pillow, or antyhing he finds, he saddly broke the doors few times) I dont wont to keep him chained…

While waiting for my puppy to get old enough to bring home, I have been downloading and watching video clips of husky puppies. (about 60 so far.) I am struck by the incredible tolerance of the mothers. From birth to eight weeks, the little guys get increasingly stronger, more active, with sharper teeth. They torment her incessantly, but she seldom growls or snaps at them, instead just nudging them around. Hope I can do as well. Truly inspirational.

There is extensive free information on the internet to assist with new puppy training. Most of it is common sense, simple, and positive reinforcement. It requires time, patience, and consistency. I will not take my puppy to obedience classes. The only thing they might assist me with is socialization with other dogs, and there are numerous dog owners that routinely come by. If your dog has not been trained as a puppy , you no doubt have a far more difficult job.

Hi, I'm new and wonder if someone can help? I have an 11 month husky called Hugo - he's a very nice, friendly dog, but we have a couple of behavioural issues with him which I want to resolve. Over my week and a half Xmas break I spent a lot of time with Hugo, and we seemed to bond a lot more. As a result, he's much better behaved around me which is great. However, his behaviour around my partner has seriously deteriorated. We just adopted a 9 month old Husky female, over all she’s a good puppy for her age and it’s obvious her previous family did work some what with her. The problem we’re having is she suffers from horrible separation anxiety, no matter if we just leave the room, or attempt to put here in the kennel of which she’s never used before. We are well seasoned husky parents, but our last girl was more on the independent side and preferred being left alone than wanting constant attention. Hi all Unfortunately I’ve been having problems with Astro since my baby arrived home He’s been guarding her from Koda. It started off with low growls every time Koda went near her crib in the living room, that escalated to him snapping at Koda, and today he he went for his neck quite viciously. Hi everyone, I would love some advice and tips on how to help a few problems we’ve been having with our husky pup. We started crate training him by making his crate a ‘safe’ place. Having a comfy bed, toys, blanket and feeding him in here. Hello! I picked up a puppy from a breeder on November 23rd that was 8 weeks old, 18.1 lbs, and approximately 85% husky and 15% wolf (father is full husky (55lb, 24" tall); mother is 70% husky, 30% wolf (80lbs, 28" tall)). I just want to keep my dog safe. I am looking for any and all ideas. We adopted an 18 month old about 6 months ago. Not my first Husky, I was aware that separation anxiety was something to expect and thought I was prepared. Brought Milo home when I had a week of vacation, ran every day, and worked on crate training gently with the hope of giving him free run of house in time. Hello, My husband and I have a very active lifestyle and both have outdoor jobs. We’ve always had large dog breeds and recently adopted and rehomed an 18 month old Husky (Koda) who loves being outdoors all day and fits perfectly into our active lifestyle. My 8 mo. old female Siberian Husky has suddenly developed a fear of wooden foot bridges. Our favourite walking routes the last 6 months have been on paths that take us over 2 wooden footbridges. She never had a concern with them until 2 weeks ago. She freezes when we approach the general area and digs in and backs up refusing to budge. I have tried to motivate her with treats but she will have no part of it. I am afraid she will back out of her collar and get loose.
