Hi, Just rescued a lovely Siberian husky from a shelter she's a little skittish, but is super sweet... To me (I'm a woman). But she's super scared of my boyfriend. H (the boyfriend) is the one who saw and picked her out. The shelter said she was picked up as a stray, but she looks to be full Siberian husky. They don't know how long she was a stray. She seems to be in great health barring a little fur missing at the very tips of her ears. ( Shelter said that was common in strays though. Nothing serious... Some sort of fly bites I think they said). I picked her up right after the shelter spayed her bc H had to work. It's been 4 days now and I work from home…

We adopted our 6 month old red husky. He's very friendly and cuddly. Loves affection. But when we got him you could tell that he had no training and no "discipline" he has no problem going to the bathroom outside but he doesn't "alert" us when he has to use the bathroom. I take him out before I leave for work, I take him out throughout the day but when I go to sleep I wake up to piles on the floor. (Never when I come home) how do we teach him to let us know when he needs to go? We have 2 other "kids" letting us know and never make a mess. I would figure that he would follow their lead.

I rescued a 6 month old puppy last month. He was malnourished and kept in a crate a lot. He was not potty trained or neutered. I just got him neutered and all his shots. Working on potty training but what I have noticed is when he goes out back with our other dog he eats poop. How do I stop him from eating poop? His poop, her poo, deer poop. I've had 3 other huskies and have never had one eat poop.

My husky is a year old and has began to bite. I recently moved back in with my husband and 2 teenage sons and he's bitten all 3 for different reasons. He's become food aggressive since contracting parvo and the biting has spiraled from that. What could be triggering this behavior and how do I get him to stop

We adopted a Husky pup (12 weeks old) three days ago and would like some advice with toilet training. She is very reluctant to poo outside. I've spent the last two days sitting with her outside but she seems to have amazing capability to hold it in. She has pooped outside a few times but despite my company she seems very reluctant. I wonder if its the smell of other animals in the garden makes her feel unsafe? There is a fox and a neighbouring dog that have probably left their marks there. When she pooped inside I carry her out but I don't want to shout at her in case she stops trusting me. Am I being too soft?

Hi I am new to this group but I’ve been reading through the forums and it’s been comforting to know that others are dealing with some of the same… we recently added a male husky to our family. we have a four-year-old female and now the puppy is 10 months old and it is just feeling out of control. our older dog is excellent well trained never Hass to be supervised or crated maybe digs a hole once a year but otherwise very very good girl and the puppy is off the rails. we are working on training and it is constant work. my biggest problem right now is taking them for walks together. If I only take one the other one goes nuts, barking, howling, climbing on the furnitur…

I adopted a year and half old Siberian Husky. Unless I get him on a leash and go with him, he won't go up the stairs of our deck to come inside. When I try to get his leash on, he only wants to play and now his collar slipped off. Any suggestions for getting his collar on and getting him up the stairs?

Hello! I don't really know how this works, but I have a question that I REALLY need help with. About a month ago I adopted a female Siberian husky (one and a half years old) and it's been interesting to say the least. This dog is not like any other dog I've seen. It kills and eats it's everything! We live on a farm in a very rural area with lots of space for her to roam, and she will track down and kill ANY animal that's not another dog and will eat them. She has even taken down goats! This is not just a prey drive, this is like watching a nature documentary. She won't even eat dog food, only something that's meaty or alive. I have no idea what to do about th…

I have a male husky/chow mix Rocky, approx 7 years old and be came blind due to glaucoma 2 years ago. 99% of the time he is sweet and loving but twice recently he has gotten into fierce fights with my 10 yr old lab/hound mix Murphy. The first time Murphy had a toenail get stuck in a sofa cover and when I attempted to free him, the husky stuck his nose in the middle of it and BOOM...worst fight they've ever had. No major injuries but i got nicked up trying to separate them. Then today, after being out of town for the weekend (their usual dogsiters visited 3x a day, no issues) but as soon as I walked in the front door they started fighting again, I assume over who gree…

Our Luna, adopted female about 3 years old, is VERY sensitive to fireworks and loud noises. If she hears any fireworks, she starts shaking and will try to climb up in my lap like a little kid. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping to keep her calm(er) this coming 4th of July when I know there are going to be lots of fireworks?

Hi, I have a almost 3 year old male husky and a 2 year old female husky and a 9 month old male husky from the females last litter. things have been going pretty well my oldest male is a big baby, very needy and crazily attached to my 16 year old daughter. The last month or so the oldest male has been acting different he has started marking in the house so then the male puppy does it also and it just wont stop. The oldest male has become very possessive over my daughter if she leaves the room he barks and whines continuously until she comes back, and he has now started to bark and whine all the time he wants to be pet constantly and when you stop he barks and whines. he at…

Hello, my husky is now 1 year and 10 months old. The past 4 months or so her behaviour has changed drastically, she used to run around playing all the time, loved tug of war and running around with her collection of different balls! Now she hardly touches her toys, we try to get her to play everyday with no success, shes also a lot more affectionate and always wants to be right next to you. We’ve had a few people say this is common in dogs around this age and is pretty much like puberty being something they will just grow out of. The behaviour does coincide with us getting another dog also and I thought this could be to blame as shes a female whose quite calm but was alwa…

I don't know whether or not to get a companion for my boy Koda. Koda is such a good boy, honestly the best dog. Yes he has Husky traits (luckily both my husband and I have grown up around the breed and have experience), but he's such a good boy. He is a lovely boy to have around, isn't destructive (as long as he isn't left alone), sleeps all night (sometimes he doesn't want to get up in a morning), walks nice on the lead (though this changes if he sees a squirrel or a pigeon ), is great with my nieces and nephews, and we can take him anywhere etc etc. So I don't really want to upset this, or upset our lives by adding a second dog as we are always so busy at it i…

Help please! My pup, Koda, has been sleeping in a crate at night since we got him at 9 weeks, he started off in our room but we moved him over to his own room a few weeks later. He would wake up a few times during the night needing to pee and poo so we would take him out, but this stopped when he turned 5 months and he would sleep from about 11pm till 7/8am without crying and if he did cry, a quick ‘shh’ would stop him and he would go back asleep. He’s now nearly 9 months old and for the past week or so he’s been waking up crying and howling between 3-6am. We’ve tried taking him out thinking he needs the toilet but he’s only done this a few times so it’s not that, I thoug…

Good morning everyone. I really need some advice. I've had my 2 year old husky since he was a baby. He's never been around other huskies/other dogs before, and the few dogs he has been around has always been really small breeds. My wife decided to get a 5 month old female husky. By natural instinct the 2 year old male is trying to mate with the 5 month old female. I've been trying to ease them together, but it always ends with him on top of her. I really don't know what to do. I can't keep them separate for the next 1 ½ years till she's ready to have babies.

Hi We have a 5 month female Husky puppy. She is great and so far listens and follows instructions (apart from mouthing and jumping). The one problem we have is mouthing. She has never bitten but we are trying to stop the habit so we do not allow it by saying no and withdrawing the hand (it starts if she wants attention). However she is snappy when she is unsuccessful. It's the snappy bit that worries me. So I managed to stop the mouthing but now I get the snappy. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there, A week ago I adopted a husky from a family member who is moving countries and cannot take her. I initially was resistant because my tenants have a cat, but I eventually accepted for two reasons; she has lived with a cat before with no problems, and the cat (and tenants) will be leaving in a few months so if necessary we can keep them apart until then. So far it has been going really well! She's settled in really quickly, I absolutely adore her, and she fits my lifestyle well (I walk and hike a lot). As it's only been a week I know she won't have fully opened up yet, and has seemingly been on her best behaviour up till now. HOWEVER, she has just co…

So, my girlfriend and I just got our Husky at 8 weeks old but we are having a hard time training her to potty in the correct places. She uses a pad sometimes in the house for pee and whenever we walk her she’ll pee outside. She rarely poops outside though, as soon as we bring her in the house, she runs to the bedroom and poops. We need some training tips. I know you’re suppose to be praiseful and use treats to get hood graces but that doesn’t seem to work too well most of the time

Hi Everyone, I adopted my siberian husky, Kira, about 6 weeks ago. She is now 15 weeks old and is such a sweetheart. She was doing so well in her cage every night not making any messes and noise was at a minimum. In her first 5 weeks she never made a single mess in her crate. The past 6 nights, every single night she has pooped and then layed in it causing me to start every morning with cleaning the entire cage and then give her a bath. Her stool has been pretty loose making it that much worse. Im not sure what I can possibly do to stop this from happening. She is on the same diet as she has always been on (nutri-source puppy food), she is on a schedule and…

My little puppy, Sienna, is a 10 week siberian husky female. We got her when she was 8 weeks old. Sienna has her own little house on our balcony. Throughout the first week, we used to occasionally let her into the house, but mostly just stayed and played with her outside. This week, we’ve had her come into the house and spend a bit more time indoors, but during the night, she always sleeps on the balcony. the first week, even the first night, she didn’t whine at all, slept quietly and soundly at night. However, yesterday and today, she’s been whining like crazy, pawing at the door, and will only be satisfied if we let her inside. why do you t…

My female husky came heat & separated her from the two males. After about a week the 7 year male & his 1 year old son out of know where started fighting. The bitch is getting desexed at the end of the month but I can’t afford to do the males at the moment. The bitch is no longer on heat but the males now keep going to fight. Does anyone know I can get them to stop. My household is on edge all the time.
