Hello all! Just a quick question, we recently adopted our siberian husky bitch 2 months ago, since then she has settled in great at home with us with some training, but we thought she would like some company so we have recently got a 8 week old shepsky. (german shephard/husky) We decided to introduce the two dogs slowly using baby gates and crate, our little boy is feeling very uncomfortable in the crate so we have took him out and let him use the full run of upstairs via the baby gate.. so our big girl has the full run of downstairs and they are completely safe. They sniff each other through the gate, and mishka (big girl) has been putting he…

Hi there! I just got my husky pups three weeks ago. One of them is 3 months old (the other just 2 months) and I just started taking her out on walks. But it is always a struggle that she keeps on jumping around and pulling on the leash. I stop walking everytime she does that but I don't think she gets it. Also, she is always distracted with a lot of things at home. She rarely comes when called. I would like to train her outside her crate but she is just so distracted. What do I do to stop her pulling on the leash during walks? And how do I get her attention so we could train?

Sooo my husband and I are new to the husky game. We don’t know anything about our pup because he just showed up one day in our backyard in Texas. He is chipped and we called and text the numbers with no reply. A month goes by and we’re like yup he’s ours. He’s a great dog. He was suuuuper skinny when he showed up so he must have been on the streets for a bit. He got a long really well with our 3yr old daughter (she even started having less anger issues). Fast forward to now - we’ve moved to Colorado in a bigger apartment but no longer with a back yard. Loki has free range of the apartment most of the time. Since the move he’s become aggressive towards our 19month old…

Hey all! 😊 I will try keep this brief but informative.. Me & my partner recently purchased mishka a 1-6month old husky girl. Having came from a home with children we thought this was perfect as we have both always wanted one, having collected her she was the perfect husky.. Loads of kisses.. Jumping up as you'd expect now and again and lovely and welcoming in the mornings too.. 3 weeks later and we have a different dog.. She gets more exercise now than she has ever had.. We have a large garden too and she gets plenty of walks.. Recently I noticed some ear scratching & biting of her coat.. So I took her to the vets and they confirmed x2 ear infect…

Ok. So it appears we seem to have lost our old poll regarding people's personal preferences for on lead/off lead walking with their huskies. Here's a new one and please feel free to add your vote. Just choose one option please. I've tried to make the votes anonymous as I know how controversial this subject can be and appreciate you may be feel more comfortable with voting being done this way.

We recently added a new member to our family. Thinking she would be a family dog but so far that’s not the case. She is 17 weeks old. We have had her for 2 weeks. She wants nothing to do with my fiancé and I. She won’t come to us, if we approach her she walks or runs away. We can barely touch her and she acts afraid of us so we try to give her her space but she is attached to my 10 year old daughter. She constantly wants to be with her and is always wanting to be in her room with her and sleeps with her. We have allowed this to go on for over a week. She actually slept in her bed the first few nights. I think because she was too scared to go down the hallway where my daug…

Hey y'all! I have a 16 week old female husky puppy, we have had her since she was 6 weeks old. The first week we had her we tried to crate train her but she was pooping & peeing in the crate & having to have a bath every day sometimes multiple times a day. So we started leaving her in our basement at night, she will poop & pee down there but when it comes to pooping & peeing outside she will not do it. She will occasionally pee outside but in the entire 10 weeks we have had her she has only pooped outside 1 time & that was the first night we brought her home. We take her outside every 30 minutes-an hour & she will pee maybe once or twice a day outs…

Hi I just wanted to share some pretty strange behavior that my sibe just displayed. So Leia was eating out of her Kong and I was working on my computer when Leia looked up from her food and stared directly out my window. She immediately started howling which she only does when theres a stranger around. I get up to look out the window and see if maybe the gardeners were outside but nope, no one but me and Leia were around. I turned around to calm her down since her back fur was standing up but she just curled up into a corner of my room with her ears back. She turned her back on her food which is extremely odd for her and just layed there. I sat with her for a bit and calm…

Hi we rescued a 10 month old Siberian husky back in September. She is about a year old now and has quite a bit of issues. Now a lil background from her. She was found as a stray and was taken to a shelter and was there for 2 months. She ended up on the euth list due to kennel stress and tapeworm. She was rescued by another shelter, was there for a lil bit and then adopted out. This new family had a senior border collie, who, they had hoped, would lighten up a bit with a puppy in the house. This did not work. The border collie hated her and she spent the next couple weeks outside...in a kennel....tethered. So she hates crates now. We tried to crate train her and show crate…

I'm confused as to whether Lola is just shy or terrified of humans. Just to give you guys a few scenarios : 1. I live with 2 housemates and they always wanted to cuddle with Lola the way she allows me to. Lola will run away from them the minute they reach out their hands. If she knows they have food in their hands, she'll take the food and then run away. It's getting better nowadays, where she'll play with them or follow them around, but any attempt to pet her, she'll bolt. 2. During her second week of stay, I have friends over for dinners and thought it's a good chance for her to socialize with large groups of humans. She just seems to want not…

We have a 6 month old female husky. We’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old. We have another dog, a 4 year old Malamute. She definitely take his lead and follows suite, but is having difficulty with potty training. We are taking her out as soon as she wakes up, before & after she eats, after she plays, after a nap, after water, every couple hours-we take her to a small coral in the yard and use the same encouraging phrase. Outside of the corral she gets too distracted but sometimes now hesitates to go in the corral. If she does not go when outside, she will often come back in and immediately pee. Typically, she pees in the house in the midst of playing and does n…

I have a 6 month old Husky. Yesterday towards the end of our walk she nip my thigh while I had stopped to talk to a friend. Than she did it again while walking. This is the first time she's ever nipped at me. Is it possible that she was letting me know she was done walking?

Hello everyone, I wanted to get on here and ask advice from everyone. I have a two year old female husky, Nova. She is fixed and 45 lbs. I just rescued a one year old female husky a couple days ago, Sky. She is fixed and 35 lbs. My current husky is so high energy. The listing for Sky said she was high energy. I thought, perfect match! Well, Nova is just so, so excited and going crazy. The new husky is so shy and timid, she does not want to play and only wants to sleep and cuddle with me and my boyfriend. I know some of her stress is from the transition of going from her foster home, to spending a couple days in the kennel (foster family went away for weekend and…

My husky puppy is now 15 weeks, and won't let anyone near him but me! He likes to be by my side all the time, yet he is okay when I leave him alone at home. He won't let anyone else touch him and recently he has started to try and bite anyone who goes to touch him. It's just him and I that live together, but I constantly have brought him around my family to make sure he is well socialized. He is good with other dogs and loves to play. Other than that he is such a good dog, who is extremely smart and already knows many commands. Should I be looking into getting a behavioural trainer or give him some time and see if he grows out of it? Both of his parents were very c…

Hello, I have a 9 weeks old puppy. She has recently started the habit of nipping at my foot, slippers, hand, basically anything that is not her toys. I was advice that whenever she nips at me, put a toy in her mouth and praised her when she plays with her toys. But this tactic doesn't seem to work because when I praised and gave her treats while she was playing with her toys or put a toy in her mouth, she immediately stopped whatever she was doing, came for the treats, sat there and stared at me after the treats (waiting for more treats), then when I gave her a toy hoping she would play with it and stopped staring at me but she went right back to nipping at my foot. …

Hey! So I’m in search of some guidance and/or opinions. My husky is about 6 months old, I’ve had her since she was 9 weeks old. I live with a roommate who has a yorkiepoo, he’s about 5/6 pounds and my husky is about 25 pounds now. She’s been around him since we got her, and she doesn’t play well with him at all. I try every once in awhile, with close supervision, and sometimes it’s okay but most times it’s not. I don’t think that she’s being aggressive with him, but I’m afraid because of the way she does play with him (biting his tail, and pulling it, pinning him down, etc) will cause problems as she gets older. Hi I own 2 huskies. Maximus is a Husky/Malamute mix and Leia is a husky mutt. They are both rescues with some physiological and medical issues which we've been able to help with. However, Leia just doesn't get it. Her counter surfing is out of control. I taught her "leave it" and she is never allowed in the kitchen but despite the the very second I walk away she eating something off the counter! Her other issue is her separation anxiety. Her entire puppy life she was locked in a kennel, from shelters to homes, always kenneled. When we come home she has jumped on the counter, peed, pooped, gone through the trash, and in one case at 50$ in cash! We tried to kennel her but s…

Ok, so my huskies are crate trained. When we leave the house they go in their crates. My oldest is 9 youngest is 6. I work from home and only leave then for 4 hours max. The last 2 weeks anytime I have left, 3x's my oldest Tuff has busted out of his crate. He broke one, and I had to order a new one. I don't know why at 9yo he has decided to break out. I had to get a carabiner to hold his crate door closed when we leave. When he gets out he poops and pees all over the house. Anyone have a crate trained dog that all of the sudden has decided he doesn't want to be in there? Advice, suggestions??

Hi guys. I have a siberian husky pup, she just turned 4 months a couple days ago. I may be being a worry wart, but she sleeps with me in the bed every night. Tonight I put her in the bed and she jumps off and runs into her cage and is squished in the back corner. Being confused, i get down on the floor and see what’s wrong. I put my hand in the crate and she begins to growl. She’s never done this before. She finally comes out, i pick her up and she’s licking me and what not. I put her back on the bed so i can look at her to see if something was wrong and she begins growling again and went straight to her crate. This is the first time she’s done anything like this but i di…

Some may not agree with an invisible fence however I have a huge garden and even though I have 6ft fencing my Husko is forever getting out. No matter how much I secure , continually repair he gets out. I live in a rural area so I'm guessing the pheasants and deer and other wildlife is too much of a temptation. I am shocked at how he finds a way. The road near where I live is lethal for some reason people always speed on country roads and there are accidents continually. I'm terrified he gets out and ends up hit , killed or crippled by a car or truck. To put another fence up around my property it would cost about 20k and not only that hes a seasoned escape artist. I'm lo…

Hello everyone I would really appreciate some advices. Conan is my third dog ( I had samoyed for almost 10 years, now I have berger blanc suisse together with Conan) and I've never seen anything like that. Everyone who knows me and my dogs, knows how much devotion and time I put in them. Let me tell you something about our life. Conan gets 3 walks per day, we hike, he do canicross, we go skateboarding, swimming, he plays with my other dog, meeting with my friend's dogs... 3 times per week we do 22-24km hike. Usually Conan is active with me and Sky ( BBS) at least 3 hours per day, in most cases more. 3 times per week from 13.00 pm-19.00 pm…

Here is the story: We already have a 1 year old well socialized female Husky ( mochi). 3 days ago, we brought home a 4 months old female husky (Rora). (They did met each other before 4 times at the dog park. And my 1 year old is completely fine with rora. However, the way them play is a bit concerning to me because Mochi will occasionally groan, she will grab rora neck or collar and tries to drag her . Knowing Mochi is tough housing because she likes to grab the other dog's collar/neck or always tries to wrestle them down. I attached a clip of them playing. Pls let me know if Mochi is too rough or playing inappropriately. there for we can correct her. …
