Hi everyone. I am glad I have found this site. I need some help on my Sibe, we’ve had him only 2 weeks, he left his mum at the rightful age of 8 weeks and went to live with a family for 6 weeks who unfortunately realised they did not have the time for him with 2 small children. ( it’s unknown to me how they did not think this through but there you go ...) as I get to know Loki, I find him rather odd politely speaking. He has had an upset tummy and is currently having rice and boiled chicken 3 times daily but his moods are almost bipolar. Today he is worrying me as not stopped sleeping and doesn’t want to go for a walk!is this a sibe trait? Or …

Hello everyone, I have a 10 month female husky named Mochi. Overall, she is well-behaved and knows all the basic training including potty training. However, the problem is that she has separation anxiety. According to my tenant, when we leave the house ( it is always around 2-3 hours never more than that) she would howl, whine and try to escape for at least 30 mins straight. And we always come home with poop, pee on the pee pads even she already potty right before we left. Idk this problem has anything to do with her background: we got her just 3 months ago, from a university student who is never home, she has to be alone at least 14 hours a day and never get …

Hello world I'm a newbie and I just love your forum! You've all been so open and friendly to me, which I appreciate most. I have some questions about husky whining, screaming, howling etc. My boy is very sweet, he just turned 12 months. He's very obedient, I have none of the problems that husky owners have. He hasn't destroyed anything, he has a very good recall, he's perfect off lead, he does not pull on lead, he knows basic comands as sit, wait, heel, paw/other paw, five, beg, roll over, stand, and musher comands ( gee, haw, hike, whoa) He also is my photo model (I'm a photographer) , he would sit and wait almost everywhere I send him. I am a crate…

Hi everyone! I am a new husky owner, we recently rescued a lovely husky pup - we think she is about one year old. She is the sweetest thing and well mannered when people are around. However, when we leave the house she howls for hours on end. We've gotten her comfortable with a crate so we've begun putting her in there while we are at work - roughly 4 hours at a time. She is still super loud all day long to the point where the neighbors are leaving notes. This is only her 4th day being crated while we are at work, so I know it will take some time before she is adjusted. Does anyone have any tips on helping her feel more calm when we leave? We cover the crate,…

I got my 10 month old husky 3 months ago, she came with no potty training at all from the last owner. We started to train her to potty outside and potty on the pee pads when we are not home. She did it 70-80% right all the time. However, last month we got her spayed and a few days after the surgery, she couldn't hold her pee well cuz of the pain so I put lots of pee pads around the house ( upstairs on the carpet and downstairs)just in case she couldn't hold it in when I am gone. 2 weeks after surgery and everything get back to normal, but she now decided to pee and poop on the carpet instead of the pee pads downstairs when we are not home. I tried to put a little pee on h…

My 3 year old husky has recently developed the habit of chewing up the inside of my car. He’s destroyed a steering wheel & 3 seatbelts. I keep him seatbelted in, and have a gate, and it doesn’t seem to matter how short of a time period he is in the car. I’m considering a muzzle to just keep him from chewing while in the car. Anyone else experience this? Anyone have any success stories with muzzles? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm new member in this forum. I have two huskies. We just moved into a new house. Our dogs had a lot of stress actually. They can't stop barking at our neighbours dogs and no one is happy with this situation. Especially our neighbours, because they have a new born baby. I tried to find a solution for this problem on internet and I found this product: Sonic Egg bark deterrent. It looks like it could help in my situation, but before buying it, I would love to hear what do you guys think about this product? Maybe you used this product? And if not, I would also love to hear your ideas on how I can solve this problem. Thank you!!!

Hello everyone, So fire season has begun here. It started about two weeks ago and we have had fires every day. I was just updating the pups evacuation supplies. 4 day supply of food, water, treats, and medical. When I thought about how important it is to have the fur babies at least comfortably in a crate. I know some people are completely against it. I myself do not crate when I leave the house. However, if your pups need to stay at the vets or you need to evacuate quickly, it is a lot less stressful on them if they are used to it. Here was the notice I got to start loading them up. Less then 4 miles away!

My husky is well excercised. However he escaped again tonight. He went through the fence. What bothered me is he would not come back. It was an utter nightmare. I live in a rural area thankfully he didn't get in with any livestock there is sheep next to my house. I'm resecuring the fence tomorrow again. The issue that bothers me is he wouldn't come back. Luckily it was 1am and I suspect it was deer that enticed him to escape. There were no cars on the road and I was like the proverbial village idiot trying to catch him. I ran away from him that's how I caught him in the end. Hes 18 month and it's really bothered me that he would not come back at all. Any advice.

Hi Folks! It's been a long time so I'll reintroduce the facts so those I don't know can chip in. My AKC Siberian Sarah is 8½ years old (9 in September.) I've had her since she was 12 weeks old and have obedience trained her as well as I can given her nature. She has ZRD and was treated for mastocyoma in early 2017. She tends to challenge me after our kids and grandkids have left after visiting and it takes a week or two of light dominance games to settle her down. I know she does this and was prepared when everyone left at the beginning of April. It's been dominance games ever since. Things got ugly three weeks ago when she bit the crap out of me. I w…

I have a one and a half year old husky named Kira. Shes been difficult from the get go. Potty training was a nightmare and she still has accidents, she still wont listen to my commands even though she knows them. She is a touch inbread from a back yard breeder which i didnt know until after i saw her papers. Shes an absolutly beautiful dog and my husky i had growing up was no where near as bad. She likes to play with my cat and my cat likes to play rough. In the past few months shes taken to running beside him and biting his head hard enough that he cries. We've broken them up and dont let them play together anymore because shes way to rough and my cat wont scratch her to…

Hey everyone, I'm new in this world, and it's my first Husky which was a breed that i always loved! Although i have a few concerns that hope you can help me with. 1 - About the energy. Well i know Huskys are pretty active, and so is mine! I walk with him almost every day, and the days i don't i let him run around in the garden since is big and has walls so he doesn't run. Although even today, i walked him for around 1 hour, and after that we went to an open park where he ran like crazy and even went to the water (has a river close by). Even after that i couldn't train him or even tell him to sit cause he is always full of energy! Is this normal? Am i doing somet…

Hi all - new to the forum hoping for some encouragement and/or advice. I adopted a 6 month husky (female) from a friend who is a breeder (pup was returned to her for being “difficult” owners didn’t want her anymore). She came to us with no manners & a very bad attitude. We hoped our super well behaved German Shepherd would rub off on her, and some gentle positive reinforcement would do the trick. It’s been almost a year and no amount of treating or “good girls” can get her to do what I ask. Even a simple sit is a struggle every time. She is walked twice a day for at least 40 mins. I’m home most of the time. She’s destroyed 4 dog beds, 1 sofa, and 1 mattress (the…

So my wife surprised me with a husky. I always wanted one. So shy is 6 months. I don’t know if that’s pretty old to be rehomed or not but he’s here and we love him but the problem is he is scared of me. He goes to everyone else. Let’s them pet him and everything but when it comes to me he runs sometimes and when I try to sit next to him he looks very uncomfortable. I never yelled at him or anything. I consistently give him treat when he does a command. Teaching him his name. When we call him shy and he comes we give him a treat. I even have my own set of treats I just give him. Now we only had him for four days now but he likes everyone else but me. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! U…

I need some tips....Tuff has become OVERLY needy the last 4 months or so. He thinks I need to have a hand on him 24/7 or I don't love him. It's becoming a problem. I can't do this anymore, no one needs that much attention. Anyone on any ideas on how to break it? He gets plenty of attention, play....I'm not giving his sister more attention that him. He's always been a lil needy but it's on a whole new level these days.

Our new Husky, Luna, will lay at the foot of the bed with me, or she will lay in bed with my wife, but not both. If my wife is in bad and Luna is laying on the bed with her, Luna will just get up and move off the bad as soon as I start to get into bed. I don't have to move her, or command her - she just will get up on her own and move off the bed, usually to a padded chest that is at the foot of the bed. Any ideas why she would exhibit this behavior?

Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, I’m new here but thought this would be a good place to ask questions! I have a 2 year old male, who has been an excellent sleeper since he was a puppy (our breeder taught us awesome tricks for sleep training) lately he has been acting completely normal during the day (playing, eating, napping, etc) and at night when it’s time for me, my husband, and our German Shepherd to go to bed, the husky decides he needs to climb on top of us and stand on our pillows and paw at us. Normally he will do this for about 10 min then get off the bed and fall asleep. Last night he did it all night and did not actually fall asleep until 5…

Hello everyone, This is going to be long and have many questions as I am new to the forum and new to owning a Husky. My little girl is 13 weeks old today and the past few weeks she has been more and more “playful.” However, by this I mean she has been more interested in nipping at my hands, arms, and feet rather than her toys. Occasionally, she will even bite down harder if attempting to move away. I signed her up for a puppy schooling and she starts this weekend, but the school is basically just me learning how to train her with the presence of other pups and the instructor. I feel like she wont listen very well for multiple reasons. The few dogs she has encount…

OK here's a great start, I just found out the dog isn't food motivated to commands by rewarding with treats. It just won't work. So can you all brainstorm me with other methods for positive training? Other than human non verbal face and arm positions.
