As the title suggest this post could get bloated and smelly like me and Mowgli. I have only had Mowgli 9 weeks and from day one he has been a fussy eater. The previous owner feed him random cooked meets in large amounts and when I got him he weighed 36KG. Today he is 32! (Husky / Malamute X) I walk him an hour in the morning, 15-35min at lunch and an hour in the evening plus he is at work all day with me during the week. (Sleeping most the time ) He is my first dog and I just wont to make sure i am doing right by him. I am now feeding him wolfworthy dry only which is very high protein and am trying to get the amounts right. He i…

Hey guys I've recently adopted my first dog a husky called Holley, she's nine and lovely. She's just vomited up chunks of chicken breast that my partner fed her, she also has diarrhoea. After she vomited she immediately ate her dinner and seems fine. I read that huskies can vomit if overfed? We have friends staying with us and I think she's been scrounging off people's plates and they feed her extra treats. Can this induce vomiting? I try to fed her a raw mix and minced kangaroo only, is this diet okay? Hard with lots of people to feed her treats!! Also I read the husky respiratory rate is up to 40, but I counted hers at 70 per minute. She seems to …

Does anyone else deal with this apparent sensitivity to peanut butter with their husky? Could it be because he is still a puppy? I can't imagine a dog's life without peanut butter! [emoji44] He does love it so much, and I only give him so very little as it is! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

Hello! A few days ago we got a husky puppy that we named Leo and who will be 6 weeks on Wednesday (03/22). I'm feeding him with "Supplemented Milk" in powder. He seems to eat all day and I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I feel like he's not getting enough and he's still hungry. He doesn't seem to be having any stomach problems. He's very playful and is starting to learn how to "bite". I've read about the best dry foods and found that "Taste of the Wild" is the best one out there (according to a website related to huskies). The problem I have is that I don't know which one to pick for Leo and I don't know when I should start introducing him to it. I would al…

Hi guys Just wondered if anyone has used dog rocks or similar to help with bitch burn on lawns, was told tomato juice can help but also heard this isn't good for their digestion? We tried training her to pee in one place and hose it down but as she has access to outside most of day as I work from home this isn't very practical Any tips gratefully received!! Evening all, My poor boy has developed 2 nasty hotspots on his chest area. The vet has given him some steroid cream and has instructed me to clean the wounds/apply twice daily. I was wondering if anyone here would have any tips to perhaps prevent or at the very least lessen the likelihood of him developing these again? My understanding is that if caught soon enough they aren't really serious enough to bother the vets with - which products do you find treat them best? It's driving me crazy seeing him like this, all he wants to do is itch and scratch them. Kind Regards, Patrick & Frankie

A diet of only cooked chicken organ meat such as heart, gizzard, … for puppies and dogs. (husky) is it good? Healthy? Maybe some fruit too.? other meat are expensive and puppies eat a lot.plus he doesn't eat anything else not even mixed with meat and never kibble. if we don't feed him meat he starts biting hard.doesn't let us sleep and barks.Even if he does eat mixed stuff it would be the bare minimum.oh and he kinda guard the meat.only the meat

Akira is 4 years old and 2 years ago she was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. With medication 400 mcg Thyforon daily we got it under control and she has six month T4 blood tests to keep check on her levels. Anyhow, we changed vet in September 2015 and every time her bloods were taken they came back 'apparently' OK and we always had to push for the results. We got her bloods checked in December and told the vet we were concerned as she has gained so much weight, she is a big build husky but at 42 kgs is way overweight. Her fur is coming out continually in clumps, no energy etc. but he said all was OK again and just keep giving her the same dose of meds and reduce her…

My 9 month old female husky stands at 23 inches to her shoulder and currently weighs 22.5kgs, her ribs are very visable. What would her ideal weight be? I will be getting my girl spayed this year after her next season. She is a rescue and will be 3 soon. I bumped into a keendog enthusiast the other day who was pleased to tell me about keyhole surgery whilst spaying instead of traditional slice and dice methods. I was very interested in this type of surgery as it means less time to recover for my hyperactive girl but upon reading another post on a different forum I am now unsure as this person said more could go wrong during keyhole surgery because the vet cannot clearly see what they are doing as much as they could with normal spaying. Has anyone on here had experience with keyhole surgery? It is more attractive as keep…

Hi everyone! We have a 16 week old female husky, she's eating 3 meals a day, 100 grams per serving of this food: http://www.petsmill.co.uk/pm/for-dogs/our-products-for-dogs/petsmill-puppy-premium She weighed 6.4kg on 11th of February, we're concerned she's underweight and isn't passing a lot of solid stools. We're also worried that the food we're giving her isn't providing the nutrients she needs to grow. We've been told by another husky / malamute owner that we should consider Eden... we just want to give her the right thing... can you offer any advice?? Thank you!! We have had Blaise for almost 2 weeks now. She came to us on Iams and we're switching her to Fromm. We're going slowly but her stools are soft. Is this from the food change and should be expected? Is it because she's stressed from changing families? Is there something we can do to fix this?

Hi everyone, We have just adopted our first Husky and have a few questions regarding feeding/exercise. He is a 3 year old male and currently weighs 22kgs (which I believe is around perfect). I'm taking him on 2 walks a day, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening. He gets one meal a day, which comprises of 2 cups of biscuits after his evening walk. 1 cup of biscuits is substituted with meat twice a week. He also has one medium sized treat during the day (dentastick or similar). Does this sound like a good ratio of exercise and food? Thanks in advance! Anthony and Atlas
