Alabama rot uk

Hi,

I'm asking this for UK husky owners. Alabama rot is doing the rounds in my area. Not a lot is known however advice is saying wash mud off dogs feet after a walk. Does anyone know of a good disinfectant that is safe to add to the water to wash my dogs feet. I'm not taking him to any areas where a dog has come down with it but it is in my area so I would rather be safe.

I know hibiscrub is a safe disinfectant it's used on wounds and surgeons use it before surgery etc too , safe for pets but it can be costly a small bottle is 5.99 from boots but u can dilute it down so might last a bit longer that way , not sure about anything else

Could people put links as to where I can purchase the disinfectants as I'm sure others in the UK will find it helpful too.

Google is once best friend...just cause there are other country users on here as well...

but if you need a link... http://www.leucillin.co.uk/

Thanks I will take a look is it safe if my dog licks his feet after I wash them.
It doesn't taste nice , I've never had my dog lick after using it but one of my rats did b despite an obvious bad taste in her mouth she was fine, made sure she ate after tho as water will froth it up a bit lol

Sounds like a plan :)

I see the latest theory is a bacteria which enters through the skin, so washing off mud, etc a good plan. This latest idea from someone who recognised the symptoms in fish - and it's the toxins produced by the bacteria, not the bacteria itself
