http://www.ourdogs.co.uk/News/2007/June2007/News080607/shock.htm couldn't copy and paste for some weird reason, but the link above is about the kc trying to ban the use of e-collars or shock collars, what do we think of them? does anyone use them here and why> or do you know anyone who uses them and why? and if you dont use them...why? personally i wouldn't use them on my two as have no reason to, however i know there not just for red-zone cases, in training classes there is a boxer who has one in our feild training because he doesn't come back and will get nasty wiht other dogs, i think it's true to some extend a dog should obey because…

Just as a bit of fun though I would put this up for all of us to put pictures, etc of how long you groom your sibe/s and how much coat you get from them? And also pics of them having a bath, if you can, lol! Dont have any pictures yet of mine but Gizmo is just finishing to blow his undercoat. I have been brushing him for a good 2 hours or so every night and been getting a good couple of carrier bags full! Marley and bandit are just starting to blow their undercoat for the first time, trust them to go at the same time, so Im gonna be on my toes! Will have to get some pics of the amount I get from them and post them on. Here is a pic of Band…

Ok Eika will be able to go on her first walk in 2 and a bit weeks, now i know the general rule is 5mins per month...but is that total per day or is it per walk? So would she be able to have 3 x 15mins walks a day...or 3 x 5mins walk a day? Our schedule of walking her will be: 5.30am 12.15pm - max, even when older of 15mins 6.30pm My next question is does she get fed before or after walks? I'm thinking after right? Also for her first walk i don't think we will do the full 15mins, even if thats the allowed time...

We all know about the Husky bad traits - chewing the house, digging the garden, very bad moulting, little to no recall, high prey drive, escape artists, stubborn, not a guard dog, not very loyal (so it would seem), so why oh why do you (us) mad b%$"^& have them own us? And most not only one but multiples. Answers on a postcard, or just reply...

Dog parks 1 2

Do you take your huskies to them or not. I'm guessing the definition of a dog park could vary. Around here they have a few dog parks that are huge fenced in areas where people take their dogs to socialize off-leash. They generally have something with water in it for the doggies and bags to pick up poos provided. I've been to one w/ a friend and her dog but haven't yet taken a dog of my own to one and I'm not sure how I feel about all that interaction with strange dogs (though I do let him play with neighbor and friend dogs in our yards or homes, but that's different). Do you take your dog to them, why or why not?

Hi everyone! As you can see i am new here. i am still trying to learn how everything on this site works. It took me about 20 mins to figure out how to post this. haha, ok well i recently brought home a new husky. He is 9 wks old and i am trying to see if i made a good or bad decision on his food. i did some research and spoke to some people about which dog food would be good for him, and i have decided on Solid Gold "wolf cub".. any idea if this is something i should keep feeding Taiko or should i gradually take him off and onto something else? thank you!

It's drissled quite a bit today and although i managed to get out in a dry spell to the local park, Kimba has been figity - wonder if he knows his brother's coming soon lol Anyway, have been trying to think up good games for him to keep him (and myself) occupied and have come up with the following: 1. get a torch and shine it on the floor - kimba loves chasing this round 2. hide treats under things (nothing breakable !!) and get them to find them 3. hide and seek i've hidden his teddy with a treat and he has to find it Anyone else got any good rainy day games??

So, do you think it's possible to teach a husky to chase of squirrels and certain birds in the yard? Or at least just the squirrels? Or would that confuse him and make him want to chase and bark at everything? Right now he just sits and stares at them. (which may be why he rarely gets into trouble - for some reason he's fascinated by watching them). I don't mind the pretty little birds that come into our yard, but we have these obnoxious black grackles that I often go out and yell at - they will come in huge flocks and kind of take over the yard. Right now we don't leave him out alone for too long at a time (b/c I'm worried at what he might find to chew up out there), …

How are huskies with water and swimming, like in lakes? I'm not sure if I want him to like it or not, but would like to know what to expect next time we go out to the lake. Is he likely to try to jump in and swim or happily hang out on the shore? Or just do whatever we do or encourage him to do? (sorry for so many questions today. Just found this site and seems like a good place to learn stuff)

Does your husky pull when you take him/her out for a walk? I am forever being pulled about by kimba and have bought a halti for him but not sure whether or not to use it on him as huskies are supposed to be in front pulling the sled (or me in my case) My trainer said dogs should walk to heel but try as i might, i CANNOT get him to do this, any suggestions peeps??

Does you dog leaves puddles of water after drinking from thier bowl? Im constantly mopping up puddles of water after Isis goes for a drink - she seems to find it amusing that she takes a large amount of water in her mouth, walks away from the bowl, opens her mouth and then lets it dribble all over the floor! If were in the same room as her she does it and then just stares at us for a reaction - tried telling her off about it - made no difference! Tried ignoring her thinking shes doing it for a reaction - made no difference! Any ideas on what to try next?

Does anyone have any tips they'd like to share on this topic? I know we all love to share our pics of our furry family - - - How do YOU get that great shot? I always try to get down to Bo's level. The best shots I have are those where I've gotten down eye-to-eye with him. What's your tip?

I've read books, looked at websites and gone to breeders for information about huskies. Now I want to talk to people who keep huskies as family members. How bad is the tearing up of the houses(Do you have to leave your husky in a crate when you leave?) Does your husky jump over your fence if it's under 6 feet tall? Would you ever leave your husky outside unsupervised in a fenced yard? Do you keep your pet in your house/apt/farm(which works best)? Are they inside, outside or both pets ? How well do they get along with other pets? How trainable is a husky with commands (come, stay etc)? Some people I've talked to have given me m…

Thought I would share this with everyone. I discovered yesterday that Marley goes absolutely wild when you blow rasberries on your arm! Was messing around with them yesterday when I found out Marley goes wild! Gizmo and Bandit wasn't as amused by it as Marley but its funny to watch him (Will try and get a film of it) and it doesn't cost a thing which is a big bonus! Anyone else tried this? If they react like Marley did you will be entertained!

I recently found that Bo enjoys chasing bubbles --- http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-2035 Obviously these are for cats as I'd originally purchased for the cat, but he loves to pop them as they fall. They do have them for dogs as well.

Kaiser had his first ride in the car today on his own without Kimba and my ears are STILL ringing with the SCREAMING and HOWLING he did!!! I couldn't believe something that small could make so much noise!! When we first got Kimba he had no trouble at all travelling in the car but my god>>>>>Kaiser is so different! I always transport them in the back, have been out in the car quite a few times with both dogs and not had any real problems, Kaiser cries a bit but nothing major. Anyone got any ideas how i can calm him down? I tried talking to him, keeping quiet, radio on, radio off, window open, window closed, heater on heater…
