MischkaMama
I re-adopted my husky at 8 months from another family who wasn't treating her very well. I helped her with her social skills by taking her to the dog park frequently and also daycare. Shes been great for about a year and now she just turned 2. She's been showing aggressive behavior towards other dogs. I cannot comfortably take her to the dog park and even when I take her out on walks, she's ready to lounge at the other dogs walking by. Before she would either pay no mind or sniff, say hello and go on about our way. She's extremely friendly with humans though. I'm not exactly sure where this is coming from... She got spayed at 10 month so I don't think it's a sexual aggression. We did recently move (5 months ago) to another house and this has a small female Maltese. They didn't get a long well at first but now they've grown used to each other. I find them gently playing and it gives me comfort. It seems like ever since the move, her social skills with other dogs have declined and I'm not exactly sure what's causing it and how to help correct it. Any advice?? Rachael_Astro
Hi when you say she's being aggressive is she snarling/has raised heckles? Or is she barking and jumping?Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
BingBlaze n Skyla
Has anything happened with her with another dog? Being scared by another dog? Too much rough play at the park or something that could have given her a negative association with other dogs? How is she acting when she sees another dog? Body language etc Sent from my E6653 using Husky Owners mobile app
MischkaMama
She snarls and shows her teeth when coming across other dogs. At first she seems fine, she goes around and sniffs their glands and then next thing, she's ready to attack. It scares me and other dog owners. She's bitten 2 dogs in the last 6 months. Rachael_Astro
Oh dear! As Nix asked has anything happened between her and another dog? Where are you based? I know a dog trainer that specialises in dog aggression. It's not something I'm very knowledgable about to be honest, but if you're in the UK I know most rescues have a behaviourist to train/assess aggressive dogs. It might be worth contacting them to see if they know anyone who can come out and help The 2 trainers I know charge £45 for 3 hours, the other £15 and a donation to the rescue where he's based so it's not expensive Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
robke
I would find a good trainer, that also knows huskies, in your area and start 1 on 1 training...
