Maz51
Hope this helps. Jean Cote is so helpful and knowledgeable.. www.successdogs.com . ...... I was walking quietly with my dog Chase when all of a sudden we saw a Doberman walking towards us. Barking…Growling and showing teethes. His owner was screaming and yelling at his dog to stop. Even calling his dog an "idiot." So what did I do? I turned to Chase and started speaking to her like she had just won the Price Is Right. Took out her toy and started playing with her. Of course, she was all shaken up. But this quick thinking on my part prevented a negative association from happening. So why am I telling you this? Well, at first I was angry at the owner. He obviously had no clue how to train his dog. But then I sympathized with him. Because years ago I was in the same shoes he was - without any understanding of how dogs learn and how to train them. I remember how I had adopted the "Punishment Mindset" and thought I had to inflict pain to get my dog to stop all of the bad behaviors. How I had to roll my dog over on his back and walk through the door first to prove I was the "Leader." Of course, as I learned more about dog training this all turned out to be nonsense. But I can't blame him for not knowing. And that's why I work so diligently helping my fellow dog owners on my website SuccessDogs.com and through my online dog training courses. So in the next few days, I'm going to share my BIGGEST lessons I've learned from dog training. They're going to be EPIC. The first one is going to be about this training technique known as "Peak State." It's something that I've been using with my dogs for YEARS, and almost nobody knows about it. I'll tell you what it is tomorrow. Talk soon, Jean Cote Animal Lover & Dog Trainer Sent from my SM-G900F using Husky Owners mobile app

Emma
Socialising and positive experiences are definitely the best way I know of helping your dog not react to unpleasant greetings from other dogs. Training classes, pack walks are all good ways to control the interactions rather than at the local park where you tend to come across a few clueless or ignorant dog owners. BingBlaze n Skyla
Sadly it's idiots like this that have made my girl fearful of other dogs and my boy over protective of her , it's easier for me to keep our distance and keep them walking Sent from my E6653 using Husky Owners mobile app
