I don’t know if anyone has any ideas here of what is going on. Poppy is about 18 months old now. We took her to the vet and they are going to do any urine test tomorrow morning. But looking for some ideas. At the end of last week on Friday she was very not energetic and didn’t eat much or drink. On Saturday she was a lot better and playing and jumping around but still wasn’t eating or drinking much. On Sunday the same and today as well. She is jumping about playing wanting to go for walks etc and doesn’t mind some treats but seems to not want to eat her normal food. She went to the vet tonight and they found she is very sore between her legs …

Hi there, my husky pup has developed this colouring around his mouth - is this normal or could it be diet related? He’s on the same food the breeder used. Thanks!

My 60lb, 9 month old, Siberian Husky (Mac), will only eat his kibble if there is either water or bone/chicken/beef broth mixed into it and slightly soaked into it. Most of the time he just laps up the liquids and then pushes on the food with his nose to squeeze more liquids out, when he can't get anymore flavorful liquids out of his bowl and/or semi soaked kibble, he starts to whine and push his bowl around looking for more. Sometimes he eats all of his food, probably 1/3 of the time. I've tried adding fresh chicken or beef to it with veggies all chopped up fine, and he just ends up picking those out unless I put a lot of liquids in the bowl and he will chomp down every…

I am freaking out, I've just found a massive bald patch on Freya's chest!! Like completely bald! her muzzle near her nose has small bald patches because we think she has a zinc deficiency, so we've just started feeding her raw sardines mixed with her dry, and it's getting better but I've literally only just seen this patch on her when I was cuddling her! What is it?! Do I need a vet? She seems fine like her character is normal and she's running around being playful normally, eating normally and all that.... anyone help?

Anyone else's husky seem to be shedding their top coat? I have a black and white husky. He's beautiful but lately his coat looks terrible. He has retained his top coat in a stripe along his back, but his sides look to be nothing but undercoat. We used to feed him Wellness Core but switched to Pure Balance due to cost (both grain free). I'm thinking it could either be a weather thing (fall is approaching and we live in a warm climate) or a food issue. Anyone have suggestions? I'd like to avoid switching back to the Wellness if possible because it is $66 for a 20 lb bag, but I will if all else fails.

Hello Husky Parents, I have a beautiful little girl husky. at the moment she is in her 1st season and she is doing pretty well except that we cannot go for long walkies for 4 weeks 😞 I have been said by the vet to spay her ASAP as she will have a lot of health issues in future. I have seen over the web that spaying will have even more health issues. there are so many articles and blogs that are so confusing and I cannot decide if I should to do it or not. I love her to the bits and cannot see her going through unnecessary pain. In my small little mind I think why should I spay her if this has natural. Would love some honest opinion from the forum to …

So I know this is a common problem with huskies but I have tried virtually everything! She's 1 year old and 2/3 months, since we got her we've been having nightmares with her food, we've tried tonnes of dry and wet food e.g. forthglade, butchers, chappies, natures menu, orijen, wainwrights, and step up to nature to name a few; we have tried just feeding wet food, just dry food, and mixing the two together. With most food she plays with it in her bowl and then spits it out, occasionally she'll pick at it if we leave it out for a few hours, and if she's really really hungry she will eat it all on a rare occasion. She'll happily eat human food, so we've tried not giving her …

Hi Everyone, My sweet little boy was whimpering after his walk last week and then through the night. I took him to the vet and learned he has a bad back. One disc in his neck is calcifying and he has a few ruptured discs in his lower back. I’m heartbroken. I’ve been doing some research on back issues and the information about dogs and spine issues is outright terrifying. My boy is currently on steroids to reduce the inflammation and he clearly feels better, but I realize this is the tip of the iceberg of the rest of his life. So I’m asking; has anyone dealt with back issues? I know we are at the start of a long journey. What direction did you go with treatment …

I've read tons about yes give raw eggs, no don't give raw eggs... After plenty of research i decided to give Rocky 2 raw eggs a week (on different days). It gave him HORRIBLE diarrhea both times. My eggs are bought from the store not fresh from a farmer and i did crush up the shell and feed it too. Now my eggs are not the freshest as we do not buy eggs all time because we only use them for making other things like pancakes ext... My children also turned the temp on the fridge down one time and they almost froze. I'm still using them and we have not got sick but then again they are cooked. I am wondering if it could be the eggs, him needing to get used to them, or his tum…

I recently adopted a Husky and I want to make sure that the house temperature is comfortable for her. With that said, I live Florida and in a area where the electric bills are very high! If it were up to me I would keep the house on 72 all day long but I wouldn't be able to afford the bill. It is safe for her if I leave the AC on 77 or 78 during the day? We always keep the fans going and she often goes to the kitchen to lay on the cold tile floor.

Hi all. When we got Lennon a couple of months ago (rescued by Dogs Trust), he had very runny and loose stools. While there he had been fed Chappie tinned food and a kibble mixer. When he first come home we tried him on various combinations of food, and finally it seems we have found one that agrees with him. We have had him on a hypoallergenic wet food, like a tray of pate (Produced by Sainsburys and in various flavours), and a grain free dry mixer which we get from Aldi. He loved it! And after a few weeks his stomach settled down We feed him twice a day, abut 200g of the wet combined with about 150g of the dry at each sitting. However, …

I have a 1 year and 2 months old siberian husky/ malamute mix named Blu. About 2 months ago he had seizure, then again 3 weeks later, and finally another last night, which is roughly 3 weeks after his previous fit. I'm 18 and have no car, job(or a way to get to one), and I live with my single mother who barely gets by.. my point being, Blu has been fed processed kibble his whole life which mostly contains zinc sulfate. He is only experiencing 1-2 symptoms of zinc deficiency ( seizures and maybe chronic digestive issues). I was wondering if anyone has personally fixed this and how can I on a budget?? Please, I love him to death and his fits are absolutely unbearable to wat…

Once Marley started having fits last year I kept a record for the vets of date, duration, severity etc. My vets were unwilling to put him on medication because of his young age (I am against drugs of any kind if there is an alternative anyway). After his first fit they tended to come about every 3-4 weeks . However in March he had 2 fits on March 7th with another one on March 9th. I had been giving him a teaspoon of powdered passsionflower and skullcap with his food (recommended by a vet who is also a qualified herbalist) - his previous fit had been on 28th February (10 days prior to the fit on the 7th March). So the last four fits were coming with ever mo…

First time Husky owner. Luna was rehomed to us due to her potential size and owner’s allergies at 3 months. She is 9 months now. Within the last two months or so, she has started vomiting and having diarrhea at night. We took her to the vet several times and she was put on Hills Science sensitive stomach prescription food and was doing well. We weaned her off and put her on Hills Science puppy. She was okay for a week or two then it started again. Back to the vet and she was put back on the sensitive stomach food again. After a few days, we started her on Hills Science over the counter sensitive stomach food. She was okay, for another week or two and now the vomiting and …

I adopted a 5 month old puppy 2 days ago and he is not acting like a puppy at all, meaning he has no energy, doesn't play, walks really slowly and overall seems sluggish. I also highly think there may be something wrong with his back legs. I took him to the emergency vet Friday night, where he was extremely tired, falling off balance, and non responsive. The vet didn't do anything, and no blood work was done being that he got it done 2 weeks ago and everything came back healthy. They tried telling me he could potentially have rabies being that he doesn't have his rabies shot yet, but he had none of the symptoms and then discharged him. I was left completley confused…

Hi all, it’s been a while since I was last here but thought I’d pop in and share this latest development. about a month ago Ice had a bout of pancreatitis, he’s prone to this occasionally and is on a strict low fat/no table scraps diet but it does still seem to happen anyway. he picked up quickly this time but something wasn’t quite right. Nothing you could Physically see and if you didn’t know him well, you’d think he was completely normal...it was more like he’d lost a little bit of his usual sparkle. Sometimes I wasn’t sure even sure if I was imagining it or not. At first we figured the pancreatitis had just taken a lot out of him and he’d need a …

Hi I was wondering what types of flea medication you used on your puppies? I’m planning on using an oral once she gets to 6 months or a year depending on her weight. But I was wondering in the meantime what can I use? Thank you all in advance!

I'm not sure if this the right place to post/ask this, but I need some serious advice. I have a neutered male German Shepsky and he's a beautiful boy; absolutely beautiful, sweet and loving. However, he has this **** picky eater syndrome but it's more than just pickiness. He refuses to eat his food, no matter what brand or tricks to coax him into wanting to eat. We've tried adding warm water, can food, shredded beef treats and ****, even crushed cookies but none of these tricks/methods work! We can't afford the expensive brands of food like Blue Buffalo, TOTW, much less the Purina Pro-Plan so right now, he's on Purina DogChow Chicken flavor. He has a sensitive stomach (wh…

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome folks, much appreciated. Now I'm not sure if I should move this over to the health forum, if so, mods please let me know. Anyway, just gone over Lennon's DT paperwork and when we adopted him 2 weeks ago he was dead on 22kg. From what i have read/listened to etc, that seems to be a bit on the light side, and yes you can definitely feel his ribs and spine! Now knowing how important exercise is to Husky's I'm loathed to lessen his exercise time. As I said about 2 hrs a day walking plus some time with the flirt pole. So i guess the other option is to up his calorie intake. So currently feeding him twice a day, 200g of tinned we…

Hi, I have a 9 y/o Husky who is Hypothyroid and was recently diagnosed with ZRD. He is pawing at his face. Shaking his head and scratching his ears. He has hot spots and has to wear a cone to keep from licking and scratching. He was treated for the Ear infection however he continues to shake his head and scratch his ears. Can ZRD cause ear infections and itchy skin?
