My two female huskies are refusing to eat their breakfast in the morning. Their routine hasn't changed and their environment hasn't changed. This started on Saturday after their annual vet visit on Friday. They both get fed in their own bowls inside of their own separate crates. It helps prevent them from eating each other's food. Tala has to eat with her door closed while Kaia does not. I discovered last year that Kaia was creeping into her sister's crate eating her food. While you would think that means I should shut Kaia's door she just would flat out never eat her food while Tala doesn't care one way or the other. Come to present day and they won't eat breakfast…

My 6ish year old husky is blowing his coat. Shocker. But there are patches on his back and sides where it looks like he’s blown the entire undercoat. There are only guard hairs left? The skin looks ok underneath from what I can see. He doesn’t seem to have any other issues going on. He did have a rough few weeks. He was an innocent bystander when a skunk got startled and blanketed the area in stank. We bathed him with Nature’s Miracle skunk off and dawn. I’m pregnant and was having major morning sickness at the time so he had to sleep downstairs and wasn’t getting a whole lot of snuggles for awhile. I tried to talk to him extra and give him treats and stuff to …

My 8-month siberian husky has recently changed eye color. Last week, she suddenly felt weak, loss of appetite, and persistent vomiting (that was only on Day 1 but she doesn't vomit now), we thought this is because she is in heat as presented by her inflamed vulva. She initially has ocean blue eyes but then as days passed, it turned into greenish-yellowish eyes. Her vet told us it is because of the ticks sucking her blood but I am not sure if that correlates with the eye color change. All of this happened 4 days ago, she is still somehow weak, there is still loss of appetite, does not vomit anymore but her urine is yellowish. Her eye color remains the same-green. This is o…

I have a 7 month old. I have him on a kibble diet recommended for huskys. Hes had sloppy poo since I got him last week. It's been a long time since I had a pup. I do have a vet check booked. He was raw fed so he has had a food change but I would have expected his poop to firm up by now ? He loves his kibble. He get treats which are dried meat when I'm training him.

My husky puppy was drinking loads of water (almost 1L per day) and consequently peeing a lot which make it kind of harder to potty trainning him (I'm not exagerating when I say he pees as much as 10 times per day; sometimes he pees a couple of minutes after having already peed on the patio). A couple of days ago I decresed the amount of water available per day to almost half but he keeps bittng the plate asking for more and as soon as I pour some into it (trying to put 100-150ml at a time), he drinks it all at once. Is that normal??? Necessary to mention that the only exercise he gets is 1-2 15min indoors playing sessions per day (partly because he isn't fully vacci…

A month ago my brother and I were running our usual route. Crossed a husky and he fallowed us all the way back home. No collar, dirty dirty dirty. I could wrap both hands around his belly and my fingers and thumbs could touch. Long story short I've had him for a month and a half. Took him to the vet to verify if he had a chip. No chip. Well trained. But he did have hook worms as well as heart worms. My concern is that he is so very active, after his heart worm treatment in a week he will have to be watched and kept from raising his heart rate up. No running, no free roam. The vet said that could very well be fatal. So I'm asking for this month period. How…

Hello, I have a 2 1/2 yr old husky. A few months ago I noticed a circular bald spot on her rear while I was grooming her. The guard hairs are still there but her under coat is gone. I thought that it was irritation from her vaccines and it would grow back but it hasn't yet. I haven't noticed that the spot has gotten bigger though. The skin it a bit dry but not red, inflamed or itchy. You have to lift the guard hairs to see the bald spot, but you can notice that the hair is thinner there while looking at her. Now, a few months later, she is blowing her coat again and she has another, almost identical spot on the other side of her rear. What do you think it is? I was …

Hi everyone!! I have a 5 month old husky who is such a picky eater. When we got him we fed him kibble but after starting 1 on 1 training sessions with him we have decided to start him on a raw diet since he would frequently skip meals prior to that. Our trainer recommends Stella and Chewy to transition him. We usually feed him chicken with veggies. What do ya'll reccomend we feed him to get him started on this transition to raw. I've done my research but have heard different things and am totally lost. Any help please!!!!

I got my 3 yrs old siberian husky last november and she had a litter of puppies previously and had blew out her coat out due to nursing pups. Not uncommon. She grew a good winter coat and was healthy as the vet said. She's had three litters and I had her spayed in february. It's now mid may and getting quite warm and while the coat has stopped growing it's only releasing dead hair from the undercoat. She is too hot. I know this is not common. Does anybody know anything about this please.

Hello, about a week ago Ocean, my 4 year old Husky, chased down a street cat. I tried to intervene to train Ocean and to save the cat, and got myself bitten in the process. The bite is fine and i took a tetanus shot and antibiotic course as a precaution. the wound is minimal. i have since been interacting normally with her. Anyway, last night Ocean started acting out of character: excessive hauling, no appetite. she was fine this afternoon, although still no appetite, and then turned aggressive and tried to bite me. that is not her normal and it has not happened in the 4 years. I would appreciate some advice please; wha…

Also if my dog is 5 months when will he have his next growth spurts. kind regards John

I've always read that huskies don't make good guard dogs and are not likely to leave with a burglar than fend him off, well last night an intruder got into our house (while we all slept) and stole my partners car keys and his car was robbed (nothing else was taken, although they now have the house key aswell). Now we never wanted to train Dakota to be a guard dog, one reason is that I've heard they're not very good, but I also don't want her to become aggressive around friends she doesn't know. But given this has happended we thinking of bringing her to training lessons to help guard our house. Just wondering if you guys can advise what your husky is l…

I went to petco and asked but all they day did was sell me their stuff. Akita (my Siberian husky)liked it initially, but now I only can get her to eat it if I put soft caned food with it. I have tried all the foods like gravy train. And old roys, and etc. etc. I can not find something that she will eat. She is almost a year her birthday is may 6th. I could send a picture if that would help she is very healthy and active. But I am at a pass trying to train and feed her she is very strong willed. And very stubborn. But I have always wanted a Siberian husky and she is my first. She is my escape artist I love our two hour runs trying to catch her. But I love her dearly and sh…

Hi everyone Not been on for a long time but just need some help, my 10 year old female husky laska has developed a lump in her mouth which has swelled up to quite a large lump and is effecting the swelling of the snout, I have contacted the vets but due to the current situation they are only accepting emergency appointments, they have helped over the phone and I have sent pictures to which they say it's a benign tumor, she seems as normal not in pain, eating well, wants the usual walks everyday so I'm not sure how to play it, the pictures above of the inside of the mouth where about 2 weeks ago and I think the lump has gotten bigger, the picture of the snout was tak…

Hey folks, I'm new here. So my girl i have had since I picked her out of a cardboard box 14 years ago has hips that are getting pretty tired. With that said, this is what I'm doing to help her so far and everything along the way has made big differences in prolonging more pain. Mentally this dog is on top of her game, loves to eat, loves treat time, follows me and my wife around the house everywhere we go. Its just the getting up part after laying down. She even chases critters that are in her yard still. The last 2 days though when getting up a time or two she let out a little quick cry/yelp, then after a stretch she is back to normal. I am giving her.... Adequan inje…

Hello! I have joined this forum to see if I can get advice from other husky owners regarding diet. Our husky is very picky, he will eat a certain food for a short while and then just refuse to eat it anymore. he is also the same with treats. he has had hard biscuits & bread or toast with tuna, with steak slices, with various flavours of tinned dog food (chicken, beef, lamb, tripe etc.) & with chubb roll. he has also had all of these with soft biscuits or without biscuits. he will love it for a few days to a week and then he just won't eat what's given to him other than a few bites but sometimes not even that. on numerous occasions I have had to cook something…

My husky, Zeus, is regurgitation up some food today. Its the first time he's done it. He doesn't eat fast, he's a really picky eater, and sometimes only eat 1/3 of his food. and i've only seen him regurgitate when he drinks water too fast. Today, some food has come back up with no notice. Normally, he'll eat grass, and throws up, and you KNOW when he's throwing up. This is different, he'll be sleeping on his back, feet up in the air, and he'll sit up, and a little food comes back up. Or he'll walk, and then food just comes up. He isn't acting different, still playing, wanting to go outside all happy. Drinks water like normal. Should I take him to the vet?

sort of a stupid question but i was doing some research about frontline plus and some people said you cant sleep/kiss/hug your dog as much if you apply frontline plus because it can affect you too. Just wondering whats the opinion from you guys. I also just bathe my dog been ~24 hrs can i apply frontline plus now? Its because sometimes my dog hops up on my bed and takes a nap there. Also alot of small kids tend to pet my dog alot. how is frontline plus different from the seresto pet collar? if lets say the dog sleeps on my bed with the collar and etc.

Hi I have a 1 year old Siberian husky who just eats everything. If you were to place a 30lbs bag of kibble in front of her she will eat it in 5 minutes (Im not joking). Her normal feeding she will eat about a cup of food in 10 seconds or less/ She will also dedicate her time to find food. She counter surfs and gets into the trash. Anytime we go on a walk her nose will be to the ground looking for food. We will even go to the dog park and if someone has treats in their pocket she will not leave that person alone. This was also just her being food obsessed but then it escalated. She would eat rewards cards, sticks, dirt and plants which was strange but not alarming, but whe…

Hi I have a husky named Thor who is about two and a half. The fur on the left side of his neck is standing up and when I feel near the root it feels dry and a little tangled but not knotted. After I brush it out it comes right back in a couple hours. If anybody knows what’s going on i would really appreciate it.
