Hi everyone! My 1yo husky/Belgian shepherd (she's a mix) ate for 6 months nutrisource fish, which she liked very much and the last month I gave her taste of the wild salmon, which she didn't like at all and always giving me the looks like "why the hell do I have to eat this?" I want to try and giving her orijen but I don't know which one to give, my dilemma is between red, six fish and original. Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone Not been on for a long time but just need some help, my 10 year old female husky laska has developed a lump in her mouth which has swelled up to quite a large lump and is effecting the swelling of the snout, I have contacted the vets but due to the current situation they are only accepting emergency appointments, they have helped over the phone and I have sent pictures to which they say it's a benign tumor, she seems as normal not in pain, eating well, wants the usual walks everyday so I'm not sure how to play it, the pictures above of the inside of the mouth where about 2 weeks ago and I think the lump has gotten bigger, the picture of the snout was tak…

Hey folks, I'm new here. So my girl i have had since I picked her out of a cardboard box 14 years ago has hips that are getting pretty tired. With that said, this is what I'm doing to help her so far and everything along the way has made big differences in prolonging more pain. Mentally this dog is on top of her game, loves to eat, loves treat time, follows me and my wife around the house everywhere we go. Its just the getting up part after laying down. She even chases critters that are in her yard still. The last 2 days though when getting up a time or two she let out a little quick cry/yelp, then after a stretch she is back to normal. I am giving her.... Adequan inje…

Hello! I have joined this forum to see if I can get advice from other husky owners regarding diet. Our husky is very picky, he will eat a certain food for a short while and then just refuse to eat it anymore. he is also the same with treats. he has had hard biscuits & bread or toast with tuna, with steak slices, with various flavours of tinned dog food (chicken, beef, lamb, tripe etc.) & with chubb roll. he has also had all of these with soft biscuits or without biscuits. he will love it for a few days to a week and then he just won't eat what's given to him other than a few bites but sometimes not even that. on numerous occasions I have had to cook something…

My husky, Zeus, is regurgitation up some food today. Its the first time he's done it. He doesn't eat fast, he's a really picky eater, and sometimes only eat 1/3 of his food. and i've only seen him regurgitate when he drinks water too fast. Today, some food has come back up with no notice. Normally, he'll eat grass, and throws up, and you KNOW when he's throwing up. This is different, he'll be sleeping on his back, feet up in the air, and he'll sit up, and a little food comes back up. Or he'll walk, and then food just comes up. He isn't acting different, still playing, wanting to go outside all happy. Drinks water like normal. Should I take him to the vet?

sort of a stupid question but i was doing some research about frontline plus and some people said you cant sleep/kiss/hug your dog as much if you apply frontline plus because it can affect you too. Just wondering whats the opinion from you guys. I also just bathe my dog been ~24 hrs can i apply frontline plus now? Its because sometimes my dog hops up on my bed and takes a nap there. Also alot of small kids tend to pet my dog alot. how is frontline plus different from the seresto pet collar? if lets say the dog sleeps on my bed with the collar and etc.

Hello! I currently have a 4 month husky that loves food. I feed her 3 times a day, a little less then a cup each time but she always seems to want more. Should feed her a little more or am I feeding her enough?

Hi I have a 1 year old Siberian husky who just eats everything. If you were to place a 30lbs bag of kibble in front of her she will eat it in 5 minutes (Im not joking). Her normal feeding she will eat about a cup of food in 10 seconds or less/ She will also dedicate her time to find food. She counter surfs and gets into the trash. Anytime we go on a walk her nose will be to the ground looking for food. We will even go to the dog park and if someone has treats in their pocket she will not leave that person alone. This was also just her being food obsessed but then it escalated. She would eat rewards cards, sticks, dirt and plants which was strange but not alarming, but whe…

Hi I have a husky named Thor who is about two and a half. The fur on the left side of his neck is standing up and when I feel near the root it feels dry and a little tangled but not knotted. After I brush it out it comes right back in a couple hours. If anybody knows what’s going on i would really appreciate it.

We have re homed a 4 Year old Siberian Husky, shes settled right in so fast shes such a little character. Now my main concern is well more of advice is she wont eat the kibble she used to eat before we re homed her at all. Second day after we got her we got her to the vets for a full checkup and she got the all clear apart from weighing 19.3kg. Vet told us to get her to around 21kg mark? I've tried her one a wet/dry mix using the same kibble still she goes mad for the wet and leaves the kibble. I have no problem feeding her raw but she isn't a working dog yet does get walked about 3-4 miles per day minimum also likes to jog with me when I go out jogging attach…

I have a 4 month old female husky who doesn’t want to eat. I feed her pro plan puppy kibble and doesn’t eat it. I leave her food in the morning around 7 am and come home until 3 pm and find that she hasn’t eaten anything. I also went to the vet to find out that she isn’t sick or anything . What should I do ? my husky duke has been experiencing these symptoms for a week and im freaking out. first started with manic/hyper episode, he looked disturbed and couldnt settle. it was out of the blue. then lethargic, unwilling to get up, glassy distant look in his eyes, runny nose, no appetite for food and water. he got better fast over the next day and 24 hrs later was 100%. then a day after that the same thing again but worse. hes so out of character and looks miserable. bloodwork is normal, has been on iv fluids earlier this week but no improvement for very long after second episode. im going to another vet for second opinion (for lack of a better word-first vet just said doesnt kno…

Hiya! Our 4 year old Husky called Roxanne is being a little pickle. For the last 2 days, she has completely refused to eat her food. She just looks at the bowl, looks up at me and then walks off! She has lost a small amount of weight but is still a healthy weight. The only other times she has ever gone off her food is when she is coming into season. She only just came out of season last month, so surely this can't be the reason? Does anyone have any tips or advice, will be making a Vet's appointment on Thursday if things haven't changed.

Okay so this is the 2nd full day now that Nanook has not touched a bit of his food Usually he goes at his feeds like a pig in a troff gave him his breakfast yesterday morning with his fresh water usually he would take the arm off ya to get the bowl but he just stood and looked at it, never even went over for a sniff lunchtime he still hadn't touched it even after his 4 mile trek so changed it for another flavour, still no joy (though in himself he is grand still bouncing off the walls as active as ever and drinking/weeing plenty) checked late last night still hadn't touched it so gave him a chicken out of the fridge he took it off me dropp…

For two days in a row now, my parents have said Suka isn't acting like himself. He's very lethargic - normally he asks for walks and he hasn't been. They say he hasn't been drinking much (eating okay), and he's "almost bleary eyed" (their words). He's been eating grass a lot while outside, but he hasn't thrown up. He's outside right now and they hope he'll go poo, so I guess that means he hasn't been pooping (as often?)? Initially I thought it was his arthritis acting up, but this time they say its different: No favouring or any change of gait. And he's never been off his water before. And, usually when Suka's arthritis is bugging him, my Dad complains about his art…

Hi all, Me and my boyfriend got a Siberian husky puppy this past summer (Athena). She is 8.5 months old now. We have had a lot of problems with figuring out her digestive problems. She had straight up liquid diarrhea for months after we brought her home. The vet we have been using has not been helpful. All they wanted to do was test for parasites over and over and keep throwing a bunch of different foods at us ($100+ bags of food at that). For the past few months she has been eating the Hill's prescription diet z/d formula, which she has mostly had firm stools since being on it. But she is definitely not over the moon for this food. The vet told us we would have to f…

My 2 year old husky, Aura, is a very picky eater. She is already small to begin with (35-40 lbs). I have struggled to find a feeding routine she likes, but she still only eats 1.5 - 2 cups of food a day on a good day. I am still working on perfecting her diet, so I come here to ask for opinions on what other husky owners feed their picky eaters. What kind of supplements (if any) do you feed? Do you feed kibble, wet, raw, or a mixture? Raw is just not do-able for me, so I feed a mixture of mostly kibble, with some wet, or a food topping added. What I have been doing for a few weeks now is I will buy freeze dried treats in a variety of flavors (currently have salmon, …

So, I was in the kitchen cooking today, and I accidentally dropped a Dale's seasoning cap on the floor. As soon as it fell I went to pick it up and Loki snatched it up and it was gone. I took him to the vet they didn't want to induce vomiting or xrays today. They said to keep an eye on him tonight, and tomorrow. If he doesn't pass it I have to take him back Friday morning. For some reason everytime he has something that he's not suppose to have he swallows it whole. I am hoping and praying that he will pass this very soon and all will be good. Has anyone had experience with this?

Hi there! I am a new husky owner and I have a 4 month old husky puppy named Indigo. About a month ago she was play fighting with my friend’s dog and all of the sudden one pupil dilated while the other pupil shrunk to the size of a pinhole. This lasted for about 10-15 minutes before they became normal again. No signs of discomfort are pain. I called the vet immediately and they did not seem very worried just told me if it happens again to bring her in. Well today I got home from work and she was fine until she laid down for a nap. When she woke up from her nap I immediately took her outside to go potty and she looked up at me and her pupils were once again different sizes.…

I was wondering if anyone could give us any information about dog treats for Loki. We were told not to give him any dog treats until he is 4 months old due to puppies digestive systems. I have always given my puppies treats, but have never had a husky. Would any of you give a 6 week old puppy dog treats? Loki is doing very well so far when it comes to house breaking. He hasn't used the bathroom in his kenneling area and has been scratching at the door when he needs to go outside. I feel like we should be rewarding him with treats instead of just telling him that he's a good boy. However, we don't want to start giving him treats too soon.

Hi everyone! I’ve done so much research and still am unclear what to do. My puppy is currently eating Purina Puppy Chow, which is what the breeder had her on. She loves it, but I wonder if it’s whats best for her. I want to get her a new food before her old one runs out so i can wean her into it. I’ve heard grain free diets are best, but my vet has told me it’s not good. I’ve seen a lot of studies on Blue Buffalo, i think that’s the name, and Taste of the wild, a lot of those foods causing diseases. Which i’m sure all food has in some way. But I just wanted some other opinions and potential options. She’s a pure bred siberian husky, she’s 4 months, she’s currently about 2…

This forum is THE most moderate, 'nice' (hate that word but it fits on this occasion) and 'level headed' forums I have ever belonged to, people here tend to self-moderate and think about their answers before typing (i.e. no keyboard warriors here) - which is why I am risking asking for a discussion and your opinions on vaccinations. I doubt that anyone here is in any doubt where I stand on this - for me it is puppy shots only and a first year booster if required. No dog (or cat) I have ever had has had any other boosters in the last 30 years or so. I have never had a dog die or become ill because of a doggie disease that a vaccine could have prevented. …

Hey everyone! I’m really curious, I’ve seen a few threads about this. But I wanted to make my own so I could keep up with it better lol. My husky pup is 18, almost 19 weeks now. She’s only 21/22 pounds. The vet said she’s growing great, healthy weight, and all that good stuff. But is she small for her age? Or big? Or normal? Lol, the breeder I got her from said that most of the huskies they breed a bit bigger than average. And most people say it’s because I’m with her everyday that I don’t notice her getting bigger. I just want to make sure she’s semi normal compared to other huskies! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

Marley has not eaten anything since 6pm last night - except a small amount of grass - and this evening he has just vomitted pink/red slime with blood in it. He has been fine in himself up to today - no symptoms like last time. Also I have been meticulous with his food and know exactly everything he has eaten, even down to what the meat he has eaten - has eaten. The one company I use for about 1/8th of his food guaranteed in writing that their lamb was not fed anything he is allergic to. He will be at the first available vet appointment tomorrow. Trouble is that the insurance won't pay out for the same thing - and last time it cost over…
