My 4 yr old husky, Puck, has taken to waking up mid-night and crying. He usually sleeps beside the bed, so when he wakes up, he starts flipping the sheets up, crying, looking for us, and when he finds us, he breathes in our faces and puts his paws up on the bed. We've tried walking him more so he's more tired, letting him out to go to the bathroom (he doesn't have to go, and runs right back to come inside), giving him a toy to play with, and sadly, the only thing that's been working, is letting him onto the bed, which we really do not want to do. We can't leave him outside to sleep because we don't want him getting into fights with raccoons. It's li…

I have a nine month old husky named Laika. She is a wonderful dog in every way and the best dog I have ever owned. The thing is, she only weighs about 38 to 40 lbs. (LOL thats pounds to you European types. Weight not money...) Anyhow, she just seems really small. She only stands about a foot and a half high. My beagle is bigger than she is. Like I said, shes the perfect dog, I like that she is small because she plays with my beagle mix well and were renting, so its better to have a smaller dog. I was just curious why this would be. Thanks everyone!

We have recently bought an Ezydog harness for Big D, XL which is just a comfortable fit on him (at it's largest size!). While I'm not questioning the quality of the harness, I don't like the fact it seems to 'swivel' round him! It looks quite uncomfortable on him sometimes, though it doesn't seem to bother him. I also noticed this pic of Smithy modelling his (2nd pic down) http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6934-smithys-new-harness/page__pid__91372__st__0entry91372 and the harness has done the same on Smithy. Is there any way to stop it? I know loads of you use them, so have you noticed this? What do you think? Or is it because the on…

Hello folks. In the last day I've noticed my dog's left ear not stand directly up like the right. It used too and I was wondering if it's possible the cartilage has been damaged in the ear from say scratching or rubbing up against something? If so, can it be taped to make it strong again? You can see what I mean in the pics...

I was just wondering if anyone else's male dog does not lift his leg while peeing. Pongo hasn't attempted to even raise his leg once and still squats at 8 months old now. Maybe he will never do it? I'd rather not having him do it lol Just wondering

As you can guess, since I'm here, I'm looking into getting a husky. My intentions are to look for a younger rescue dog, because from I've seen locally, there are a decent number of rescue huskies and they're pretty much all house trained (one less thing to teach!). There's a lot to take in, reading around on huskies, so I'm hoping some more experienced people can look over this and see what I might be missing or forgetting. I'm a college graduate student, working under assistantship for atleast the next year. So, what this means is while I don't have a set schedule, and I live close enough to the school that if need be, I can make a trip home, there will be …

Ok so having never had a puppy before, let alone a husky pup, I was wondering what all should I get? What toys do your pups just love? I also had a question about the EZ Harness, should I get a medium for her as a puppy and then get a large later or would a large fit a puppy ok if it's adjusted to its smallest size? LOL I feel like a first time mom and I've never even had a kid yet I'm getting her early next week so its down to the wire to get everything preped and ready. The house is as puppy proof as I can make it for now so that's done at least lol.

I am researching getting a husky pup and have been fro about a yr and a half. i would like to have one by the end of this year. I currently have 4 adult chihuahuas and im unsure whether they will get on. but i have been offered another chihuahua puppy later on in this year too. (it will be show quality & i have always wanted a show quality chi to show) But i was wondering if a husky pup & chi pup would get along together as the chi will only be around 1lb (the husky & chi will be around the same age). this worries me because of the prey drive and rough play. what is your opinion about owning the 2 pups at the same time. thanks in advance

I have done quite of bit of research for the last year on the Siberian Huskies. We finally decided to pull the trigger and add to our family, but here is my dilema. We were going to get a male and female and we had already put deposits down, but I was told by some other people not to get a girl and boy combo. I was also told that a girl and boy combo was good. I would like to have your guy's opinion on this. We pick up Knox on Friday and decide to wait a few months before we pick up our girl. We were suppose to get both at the same time, but was told don't get the dogs from the same litter. We rolled the deposit over to a different litter. Need some insight!

Hey everyone. I have been thinking of names for our pup and I am blocked. I won't decide on a name till she is home of course but I need to make my list now! Where did you guys get your names? I am thinking of something Hawaiian based because I am getting here on the island. Moe'uhane means dream in Hawaiian. I would call her Moe for short. My 2 yo keeps telling she wants a puppy called kitty... poor thing seem confused. LOL.

I looked around and a lot of people use the Ezydog harness. I was wondering what size I should get for Hayden and Khuno. Hayden is 3 months old and Khuno is about 4 months old. Do they sell it in stores in the USA? Also I'm having a hard choice choosing between a collar and a harness? Can anyone help me out

Hi guys, Hope your well, i wanted to check to see what you guys do or have done with little pups during the night. Saber sometimes wakes up around 2/3 in the morning after being put to sleep around 11/12. It's normally to be let outside to pee/poo and when he's done he wants to play (during the day whenever he wakes up i constantly play with him for 30 mins to tire him out so he goes back to sleep again). But should i be playing with him this late or should i just put him back in the crate and let him howl and cry till he gives up. My mum and brother wake up at 5am for work, so this is when he gets his morning feed and playtime. But if i put him back…

Hi guys! Well right now I have a 3 1/2 month old Husky. We take her out alot to walk and play but most of the time in the house she has a closed off area for her when we aren't able to play with her. I can't let her run around the house most of the time because I have a 2 month old baby that she always wants to jump on, and a 3 year old that she makes into her chew toy. lol She is very hyper out of her closed area so I try not to let her around the kids yet until she gets behavior classes. But with her behavior and with this breed would it be a good idea to add a small dog to this family? Like a chihuahua? I'm not sure if she'd try to play with her too rough, or try…

As some of you know I got some scooba floor cleaning robots a few months ago. To say the least they are not worth the money. They have both stopped working and neither of them will charge, so they were toast after 6 weeks. However.... I have recently gotten the Euroflex Monster Steam Mop. I paid $125.00 for the steamer and 7 cleaning pads, and the carpet glide attachment. It is worth every dime. It is a bit heavier than the other cheapie steam mops but to me thats a very good thing. The mop pads are machine washable and re-useable. It has 4 steam heat settings and it cleans very well. The floors dry within 30 sec…

I ordered these a few days ago and got them yesterday. Just in time too, because we got a touch of snow last night and it was slippery/icy in spots this morning. They work great! http://www.yaktrax.c...roductsPro.aspx

I was wondering if anyone had put their dogs through quarantine to get them into the country? Morocco is not part of the PETS program so I'd have to put Yanky through a six month quarantine if I wanted to bring him over to London. He is an outside dog and loves being surrounded by people so I'm not sure he would cope well with the kennels. We just miss him terribly and are starting to look for different options. thanks -jaafar
