We all know vets can be very expensive and most of the time we can use home remedies or medicines on our dogs!! Thought i'd start a thread for giving details of human treatments that we can use on dogs should you need to, which are much cheaper to buy over the counter. Be careful though as there are some you definately shouldn't use e.g. ibuprofen. Post here any that you know CAN be used to avoid any confusion - also it may be useful to tell us how you know it can be used!! General wellbeing and covers all manor of things (great for cleaning wounds with ) Colloidal Silver - this stuff is excellent!!!! (It has to be 50ppm though - see…

everytime kira sees another dog on a walk she goes up on her back legs and hops towards it (cause im holding her back) and then if the owner doesnt desperately keep their dog away and she gets to meet them, she bounces around all over the other dog!! will she calm down with age?? i keep holding her and offering her bum to the other dog to sniff and she calms down for a bit but then starts back up again... its a shame because she seems aggressive and people dont want their dogs to meet her but shes really fine, just playful...

Ok so Beauty recovered from the VET ordeal and its been a while since I have had access to a PC...but she is big now post pics later. I have done everything in my power here to train this dog. I use to work for a dog trainer and sometimes we met dogs who were almost impossible to train. For instance...beatuy does the following Faq: She poos and pees everywhere, despite me taking her out every 15 to 30 minutes and standing outside sometimes up to 45 minutes, and her not doing a thing. Faq: She poos and pees on herself in her kennel while we are at work or in the middle of the night Faq: She eats everything insight, where its …

I'm having an issue with Dakota help! Every time we leave Dakota in the house by himself even if its just for 5 minutes he goes to the bathroom on the floor no matter if he just went outside or not. I would like to be able to leave him have run of the house when we leave instead of crating him if he would just stop doing this. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to stop this behavior.

when i went to go visit my puppy today i noticed that some of the other puppies had weird colored eyes. they looked like they had catoracs over one of them. they was real milky looking and were not like the other clear puppies eyes. did they get hurt or does that just happen to huskies eyes when they are 3 1/2 weeks old.

Now here is an area where i am in the dark on. I have read different opinions about you should groom your husky and you should not groom your husky. Grooming in the sense of baths not brushing. I think we all agree that brushing Siberians Huskies is a must. I think they are the most shedding dog of all. So i would like everyone opinion on should/should not bathe and/or how you groom your husky.

Hi there folks I am sure all you husky owners will have a chuckle at this but yesterday i made the mistake of putting some roast chicken juice on our 9 week old puppys lunch,he is on chuddly pup and does not seem to keen although this is what he had at the breeders, BIG MISTAKE:tdown::tdown::tdown:He had me up 5 times in the night with the runs and needless to say accidents happened cos he had no control over his bowels:eek:. I shall not be doing that again i forgot how sensitive husky tums are!!!

Hey all, Hope that I have put this in the correct section! Just some ideas and help really................we are having real trouble with Takara pulling on the lead, she is a little devil! She has come on season, so really has to stay on until finished Although in saying this, what a pain in the bum she is on the lead anyway! She seems to love to be in front, before we start our walk/run/cycle we make her sit and wait by the front door whilst we step out the door (trying to prove to her who is boss!) we try and make her stand near us whilst walking until we are near an open area for her to be let off and do what she does best, run and pounce (she looks …

Max (10 months, neutered) is generally well behaved. He is happy to accept us as alpha to him. The only issue that we have not been able to resolve is pulling and leaping when we walk him near other dogs and children (ocassonally some adults). The rest of the time he will walk to heal (ish) on a harness. We are thinking about using a half-check collar to help train him out of this habit. Does anyone have any experience of using these - have they helped, are there any tips on how we should approach this? Thanks in antcipation, Andy.

OK so heres a question how much play fighting is too much? Every time Nukka meets a new dog she immediatly tries to dominate them... if they are over excited shes shy at first but as soon as they calm down shes in there trying to tell them shes boss! She does the putting a paw on them, nipping at their faces, running around them so they cant get and her trying to get on top of them (even if they're bigger!) Now at first I thought this was all just puppy play but she seems to do it to every dog she meets and I'm worried that one day she'll meet a not so tollerant one that will just go for her! Is this normal behavior? I am trying to get her to…

Hi all, hope you are well. i just had a quick question really, i wanted to take Ice to training classes as he wasnt taken as a pup, and now at 10 months old, although a well behaved dog, i thought it might just give me some more pointers, and hopefully he'll be able to socialise with a few other dogs, however, is it best to go to someone who has worked with huskys previously or would any reputable dog trainer have the knowledge? i'm not trying to undermine anybody here, but around where i live huskys are very rare and a lot of people i speak to when out on walks, have only ever seen them on TV! and i want someone who can understand the intelligence o…

Hi was wondering if anyone can advise on a small problem we're having with our girl. Shes very snappy especially when she plays but sometimes just when my husband is petting her, she hops up on the sofa for a snuggle and then when he goes to stroke her she mouths at his hand like she going to bite him, now I have been trying holding her mouth closed and telling her No very firmly when she does it and my husband tries to do the same but she just doesnt seem to get the messgae. Is this just puppy behavior she'll grow out of? Does anyone else have the same problem? What can we do to stop her? I know Huskies do love the rough and tumble and I do play with her in a…

Laska is 11 months now and this week she has started wriggling into a small gap in the kitchen and started scratching the floor like she was trying to make a nest. what does this normally mean . is it a change of turning into a young lady or has something tried to mate her or maybe does she feel a bit sick. Ive had it before from a older girl before but she had a phantom pregnacy. anyway hope someone can help Thx Mark / Laska and Storm
