This boy was found laying in the middle of a highway around the Nashville, TN area along with another male and a female. The female was dead on the road The two boys were lying next to her and refused to leave until a generous man picked her up and took her into his garage. The boys followed. I agreed to foster them. The one boy was very vocal and continued to beat on the boy I have now. Since we neutered them a week ago, we have separated them and the dominant male has become a gentle soul. His foster has him in the house and he has proven to be housebroke and is using a doggie door and is very well behaved. My boy on the other hand has serious issues. He stopped eatin…

As you know I rehomed Tannar 8 weeks ago (I know its not long but please bare with me) Since I have had her she has made some good progess in certain areas but severly lacking in others and now Laika and his training is getting affected by it and is falling back rapidly. I have had along discussion with our Vet and his assistant. Apparently there is a huge need in our area for information on Huskies. The problem is, that a lot of the husky owners are from areas where having a computer is not the norm and access to the internet is virtually non-existent. So, we have come up with the following. I will arrange the meets, at a local venue, and get as many of these owners together where we can walk the huskies and discuss any problems they are having, and his assistant is phoning the husky owners on their books and giving them my cell number. I have had a few calls already, from desperate husky owners asking if this is a works…

OMG so Storm has Hypo-puppy moments when he is like a toddler on speed! He charges round the house jumping up anyone and anything, he nips and scratches, manically chews everything and won't listen to me whatever I do. We just can't calm him down at all, I tried to hold him to calm him down today and he just wriggled and growled at me and bit me! Please someone must have gone through this, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and aid me in saving a (very small) piece of my sanity! We have been told not to put him in his crate but we can't put him anywhere else as he literally throws himself at things and I am worried he will hurt himself. I think some …

hi, shadow is just over 9 months now and for the last two months or so he has been 'attacking' my dad. what i mean is if i have some food he wont come near me but if my dad has food he will jump all over him to get it and 9/10 will win. Another time is if my brother, mother or myself have our hands near his face he will not bite, yet if my dad does it, he will bite him and grip on which results in me coming and getting shadow off him and dealing with him. I have lots of different times and things that shadow has just had a go at my dad for no reason several times drawing blood. What we dont understand is it just my dad he will go after no one else Secondly we h…

Has anyone clocked how fast sibes can run ?? I took Darwin out for a run on my bike. I have the WalkyDog attatchment for safe running. The area is a 40mph driving limit, wide roads. However I keep Darwin on the path beside the road. It's a good wide path with nice 5ft grass verges on either side of the path. I'm on the path and Darwin is on the grass beside me. Anyhoo. . .after happily towing me up an incline we crested the top and came to the other side and Darwin started powering down the descent on the other side. WOW!! I don't have a speedo on my bike but we wuz seriously shifting ! Cars were passing us on the…

Hey guys, Just need some opinions and training advise.. Since we adopted Shadow three months ago Nukka has gotten very possesive over the toys in the house (both hers and ones bought for him) She will growl and bark at him if he plays with a toy till he stops and sits with it between his paws and then if she gets a chance she'll try to steal it and run away. Now most of the time Shadow just lets her but just occasionally he'll take exception and she will fly at him and a nasty fight ensues... not had any injuries as yet but its scary with all the noise and theres bin fur pulled out. Now I know resource guarding behaviour is normal but su…

My knowledge on training dogs is fairly limited and me and Ice have now come to a dead end on what to do next, he's quite an intelligent dog and picks things up really quick (other than roll over, he ain't having none of that , over the last couple of months he's learnt sit, paw, other paw, down, up, leave, off, stay. Behaviour wise he knows the commands he needs to, so i need some idea's on some fun treat training as things like sit, paw etc are getting a bit routinal for us all as he's known them weeks. We need to freshen it up abit. So all idea's on some fun things welcome

Hi, I'm pretty sure Storm has seperation anxiety. Whenever he is left in his crate he goes mad and poos in it then jumps all over it and he and his cage end up covered in poo! I have tried making a blanket smell of me, he has my son's old nightlight. The night before last we had a good night, then last night back to the poop in cage again! He follows me around the house when I am here and likes to lie down in whatever room I am in, if I move he wakes up and moves too! It was only after reading a post on here I realised what it is. I am just about to go and rinse poo off another blanket for the umpteenth time! Last night I put him in his crate for 10 mins while we…

Took the kids to a show @ langley today, sisko behaved really well, she is starting to get the hang of it now & much less spooked by strangers as she was as a puppy. She was placed 5th in the working group . Kavik got placed 3rd in the open class, we walked around a fete there too. A lady was there with 2 huskies the male one was lovely, kavik , sisko as usual liked him. mishka didn't . I told her about the forum so she may come join us here. Here are a few pics of today. kavik peeking @ daddy

Hi guys, I don't know if you will be able to help.. but hoping someone has an idea. Just over a week ago my 10 month old, fully intact male pup started some strange behaviours. Up until now he has been sleeping downstairs with water and bed in the kitchen. He used to head off to sleep around 10pm to 10.30pm and you wouldn't hear from him again till around 7.30am when he wanted to go out. During the day he used to have two, half hour to an hour walks and around half hour a day *split into smaller sessions* of training or mental games *he loves guess which hand the treat is in* He was fairly good on walks with his half…

We want to start scootering with Ozzy & Micah next winter (2011), by that time they will be approx eighteen months old, but I was wondering if they are compatible. Ozzy (male) is stocky and is extremely strong whereas Micah (little lady) is about the same height but much leaner and is very fast. They love to run together with a lead coupler, but when pulling a scooter, would Ozzy & Micah's different strengths be a disadvantage or be detrimental to either of them in any way? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Also, in the photo below, this is the type of terrain they would be running on. Is there anything we would need to do to their paws t…

Hi, I have 2 sibes..... the youngest is 2. Yesterday he attacked me. I was trying to get him to go outside and he wouldnt so I tried coaxing him out with treats etc. Its the usual routine. I was annoyed so I grabbed his collar to get him to come outside and he attacked me. There was blood everywhere. I had to be taken to A and E........I have 19 puncture wounds about the size of little fingernails and the wounds are so deep that you can see the fat inside my hand. He didnt just bite once he bit me quite a few times and was snarling. The pain was/is excrutiating and I couldnt have stitches as they need to keep the wounds slightly open to heal.So im bandaged up …

hey guys... as some of you may know... i want to crate train my pup, he started very well with it but im getting annoyed with the late nights before he settles into the crate without too much noise.. i mean its 10pm and i should be in bed like an hr ago to be up at 5am! loki has fallen asleep on the carpet but i put him into his crate and he will lie down good enough but then he sort of stirs and realises he been put into crate, and whimpers like hell today i left for work at 6am but left the pup lying on the kitchen floor with his crate door open and kitchen doors closed.... apparently he didnt make any accidents or even wake steve up as i woke stev…

My pup Nero is 11 weeks old and he needs some sort of release to burn off that pent up energy. He pulls quite alot when we go for walks but nothing too major. The pulling is actually only when he is really worked up OR on our way back when he wants to get home. Nero actually abit of a pansy because he won't walk on any street where he can smell other dogs or doesnt like the look of, even if we are in the middle of the road. I usually have to carry him past a few houses because he simply won't budge otherwise I usually walk him 2 or 3 times a day at about 15-20 mins each session. Once before work, sorta 7am once around 5pm and again last thing …
