utahraptr
We introduced all the dogs outside last time, they did fine outside. So we still plan on doing that.
Removed #1
Fox is really young, but his house is still his house...he's not agressive but he does make sure that any dogs that come to visit know this... What we've done to help reduce the tension in the house is to meet up on completely neutral territory...a park down the street or something similar...and then the group of us walk back to the house after Fox and the other dogs have had a chance to get comfortable with each other there...it can take anywhere from ten minutes to an hour...not driving back is just as important as doing the meet and greet on neutral territory, because it's still Fox's house but he knows undoubtably that he's having company. Kroush
Labs are actually very territorial, which comes as surprising to many people. That's also why they're one of the BEST dogs for potty training as they will not potty in their territory and if they do, it will be in a small spot very far away from where they spend their day. Have they met in your home before? It isn't her territory in your home, so perhaps it won't be as bad- and Siberians are not territorial (Which is why offlead they'll just run and run) If you still have issues, your best bet would be to section off the home with baby gates or to have one dog outside and one inside and switch them. Other than the gradual introduction- getting a cloth and rubbing the anal glands of each dog and introducing the cloth to the opposite dog without physical contact or visual is a good start. (it sounds really gross, but works well). Gauge the dog's reaction off the scent. If they do well, consider introducing them to each other physically, having already smelled their scent, the meeting should go much smoother. Removed #1
I'd never thought of the anal gland thing before...::jots it down in her book of stuff that's good to know...but that she hopes she'll never have to use herself::
