Zoya's Annual Checkup

Took Zoya to the vet clinic yesterday for her annual check and DPL (distemper-parvo-lepto) vaccination. We also took along a few turds for the poop spin machine. Well, it seems Zoya has hookworms. The heartworm med she's on is supposed to prevent these worms, that's why we went with this particular brand (Iverhart Max). The vet clinic will contact the drug manufacturer on Monday, and then we will be reimbursed for the six month supply of heartworm meds and the cost of deworming.

So Zoya is on a potent dewormer for three days. Then in three weeks, again for three days. And then two weeks later, the turds go on another ride in the poop spinner. Zoya has shown no symptoms. Her poops are firm, no runny poops, no loss of appetite, she's perky, full of vigor. So the vet thinks it's a recent infestation.

The vet asked if we took her to any dog parks, which we don't. She runs in our back yard, which is about an acre in size. But we live in the country, so we have deer, possum, racoons, coyotes, rabbits, that all pass through our yard at night. The vet said one of those is most likely the source.

Otherwise, Zoya is in excellent shape.

Well, gotta get ready to do poop patrol.
