I desperately need some advice here. Yesterday I took my husky "cooper" to a groomer (Name of business removed by moderator in Ruston, LA ) Normally my wife and I groom him ourselves but we are expecting our first child and I've been busy with work so we gave this place a shot since we haven't been able to do the job ourselves. Now cooper is in full blown shed mode so we asked them to do the "furmanator" treatment that basically involves a good brushing and small trim in certain areas. We also asked for them to give him a bath. Now my wife and I do brush him regularly. He's got very long soft hair and we know of the risk for matting so we do maintenance regularly to avoid…

When we first got Fenrir he had blue eyes, they've now changed to a greeny sort of colour, in some lights they're more green and in others more blue. I've never come across a husky with green eyes before. Is it possible for huskies to have green eyes or are his eyes likely to carry on changing colour? Both his parents had blue eyes as did all his litter mates.

I was scouring the local husky rescue group websites (like I often do, dreaming of a new packmate) and many of the reasons the rescues list for having the dogs in their care is because previous owners "weren't prepared for husky ownership". I have never owned another breed of dog, so I have nothing to compare husky ownership to. I know that we often talk about breed specific behaviors, and that huskies can be hard to train and require a lot of exercise - but is there something else I am missing? Chula was/is a challenge, but giving her up wasn't even a consideration. Sincere question, not snarky at all - are there medium/large dogs that don't require any exercise or t…

Hi everyone! I hope you guys can help me out a bit. My boy Nava is almost 11 weeks old, and I’m worried he’s going to get or become aggressive. He bites an awful lot and I mean you can’t really even pet him without him biting you, he even gets wound up to the point he’ll play with you in the floor and “snap” at your face. He has gotten out of that a bit with me firmly telling him no, but occasionally he still does it. He also yaps a lot while he’s trying to “play” but the biting is excessive. I know huskies are known for talking and by no means does it bother us at all but the constant biting has me worried. Don’t get me wrong he can be the sweetest little thing ever and …

Tomorrow we are meeting our potential new baby. She is 5 years old. I am a little nervous of the process as she is being brought to meet our other dogs. We have a pekinese who is 3 and two toy poms one of which is 10 and the other is 12. All my dogs are male and pretty chilled. I am not sure what to expect bringing in a female husky. Any advice on what to expect tomorrow with the meet and greet and what I should be aware of. Thanks so much

Hi everyone! Nava is 9 weeks old and is awfully stubborn! Don’t get me wrong he is a very good pup; he will let me know if he has to go potty, he comes to his name, he listens when we tell him no for the most part and he’s a very sweet puppy BUT if he doesn’t want to do something he won’t. He will just sit or lay down. I’ve read on here that huskies are like that, but is it normal at 9 weeks?? Sometimes it makes me feel like he doesn’t like me lol. Thank you in advanced for your input. pic of Nava is attached!

I have come home today after helping my cousin fit a satalite dish to find that my wife has yet again gone to the local resevour to walk the dog round. Now he's flat as a pancake on the floor and thoroughly worn out. So what to you guys/gals do to tire out your dog(s)???? Yeah I know most people walk them, but where? A lake? Nature reserve? Park?

When you go anywhere in your car, how do you transport your sibe(s)? I pop Kimba in the boot (we have a Vectra hatchback) but i know you can get seatbelts for them, only thing is, with me and marc in the front and 2 kids, not enough room for Kimba (and Kai when he arrives) How do you transport yours?

Hey everyone, like the title states I've had this issue for as long as I can remember. My dog would go up to everyone in the family and sniff they're crotch area and it's very annoying....I know dogs are suppose sniff in order to recognize and greet, but he does this every time he passes someone at home constantly! He does not do it to me, because if he does he would get a firm no or a correction. I would correct him if I catch him sniffing, but just after a few minutes he will go up to someone and sniff again, like it never happened!! I've tried different methods of saying "NO", leash correction but nothing works. He is almost 2 years old! And the …

My 5 month old puppy 'Bear' is a rather odd colour. I've been googling images for the last 2 months and have so far come up with 'dirty faced agouti' or 'tri coloured'. We rescued her when she was 12 weeks old, when my husband was driving home from work and the van in front of him threw her out! Battersea checked her out and said she was a husky and definately NOT a German Shephard cross. Her undercoat is a thick wooly cream colour. Her guard hairs are a mixture of black/cream and cream/black/cream. Her underneath is entirely black and white patterned. Hope this helps, any info shared would be greatly appreciated! Thanks x

Good morning, just a quick one... Kodi is turning one year old in a few days and out of all three of the puppies he is still really boney around the hips and pelvis, his 2 sisters seem to have plenty fat and you cannot feel the pelvis or hips at all unless you really try. Kodi however remains very boney at the back end. Is this because he’s male and they develop at a different rate? He’s so slender compared to his sisters but eats the same kibble etc He towers over them in height though and is about half a foot longer than them. he is a bit of a picky eater, we do manage to get a few cups into him by way of games and stuff if he Shows no interest in his foo…
