Hello, I have a question, how often and how long we need to take our husky for a walk? We often go 40 min 3 times a day and I start think that we should go more like 1-2hrs 3 times a day or its too much for 8months old doggo.

Hi all. Merry Christmas! I was wondering what fencing, posts etc people use for their Huskies. I have read that 6 foot chain-link is recommended but I was wondering how common this actually is. Specifically: What sort of fencing, how high, any anti-dig precautions? Do you use posts, tethers or cables? Do you use GPS tracking? Can you recommend any products? Has your set-up been successful? Thanks!

Having owned 2 Huskies for almost 15 years and now having two new 6 1/2 month old sibling puppies I was advised to look into littermate syndrome... I've read the information and see where it could be helpful to people with many breeds but being a long-term Husky owner already with years of experience, I don't see where it applies to Huskies in the same ways. I don't know of another breed that benefits and prefers to be in groups (packs) like Huskies do... Has anyone else run across this? Basically a professional trainer I was considering working with told me about it and one of his big points was doing separate training for each. I don't necessarily agree with that, e…

I'm not interested in mating my two huskies for colors and selling but in curiosity I am wondering if my red and white male and agouti colored female had puppies what mixture of colors would come out of them? They both have blue eyes but I don't know anything about the parents, as the both of them were rescued/adopted.

The weather here has been extremely hot, in the upper 90's. Yotie has taken to laying out in the sun, he actually asks to go out so he can sunbath! I let him lay there for about 10 minutes, he then comes in the house and drinks water and lays down in front of the fan! Is this normal( I'm finding that there is no normal for Sibes ). But I don't want him to over do in the hot! Anyone else have a Husky that sunbaths in the heat? He will only sunbath if it's over 90 degrees out side, cooler temperature and he lays in the shade. While we are working, he is usually in the house or the garage which is much cooler than the outside temp, but at lunch time or even in…

Hi everybody! I wanted to get others opinions on my husky puppies’ facial markings! I rescued him at 4 months old and he is now 6 months old! His mask around his eyes seems to be fading a bit but not as quickly as I anticipated. He also has spots going up his nose and I’m hoping they stay! Do you think the spots will stay into adulthood? Will the mask around his eyes completely fade? I’ve noticed his coat around his back and legs is starting to grow a bit of white under the chocolate. He also has super floppy ears and I haven’t noticed them starting to prick more with age, do you think they’ll stay floppy? I attached photos for reference, the first was when we first got h…

Our husky is almost 13 years old. She's in amazing physical health and still acts like a puppy on the regular - loves long walks, does the playing with us thing (bowing, etc) and loves to talk to us. Lately she has been acting very strange. She sits right outside the sliding glass door staring in but won't come in when we open the door. Instead she cries and backs away. She has never sat outside the door before. She usually sleeps under our deck and comes knocking when she wants to come in. But never just sat there and certainly not refusing to come in. We have also heard her under the deck crying. She doesn't seem to be in any pain and is very energetic on walks. Co…

There’s this hair follicle that has about a dozen hairs coming out of it, it would get scabby and we would have to pull it out. We have also noticed that leading up to the follicle areas she has what feels like a long vein ( about and inch and a half) that wiggles side to side. I’m trying to google what the top of my dogs head should feel like, not in regards to her saggital crest. It doesn’t cause her any discomfort. https://docs.google.com/document/d/15oe1v8Fsd8HUxRonFOaIrsJnBw2oQP7pEtzaRVKxCGA/edit

Hi, I have a Alaskan husky she’s 1 year old and is the sweetest thing I’ve always wondered if she’s considered a dirty faced I don’t think she’s agouti I’m pretty sure she’s a jet black husky her under coat is black and her outer coat/guard hairs are black with some occasional brown and tan guard hairs. She’s has a grayish muzzle with a very dark mask, I honestly could care less about her color but I would be nice to know

Hi, i have a 3 year old malamute husky, i thought he just had black and white fur till i was grooming him and i looked more at his outercoat and his fur is goes from white darkish brown and then black, and from what I've heard when a agoutis huskies hair strands are 3 different colors, which is what he has but he doesn't have the dirty face or cream colored undercoats like most agoutis, his undercoat is kind of whiteish grey. or is he a wolf grey colored husky or is he just plain black and white

Do you think she’s wooly husky at all, or long haired malamute, she’s a malamute husky mix. Also do you think she’s dirty faced/agouti or just dark colored, also does the agouti coloring show up as a puppy or does the coloring come in when they get there adult coat, I have agouti husky with normal colors except when you look closer at his fur and it’s 3 different colors per hair, and his agouti coloring didn’t come in till he got his adult coat she’s has the same length of fur that my other husky has when she was 11 weeks old this is my other husky puppy, she’s 5 months old and is a possible wooly

Our 9 year old Pure White Husky, had an unusual shedding season. He did not shed at all over the very hot summer, we consulted our Vet and many other owners. The overwhelming opinion was that they can fluctuate and not to worry. We thought maybe he would just skip it altogether, we tried to keep him cool all summer ! Finally in November he started and now he is really blowing it out. The problem now of course is that it is getting really cold, normally not a problem for him. Primarily he stays outside, he has a warm house and additional shelter. We noticed he was actually shivering! We had to take action, bought a thick pad to sleep on and a jacket , yes a JACKET for a Hu…

I just got this husky malamute puppy a little bit ago, she’s around 25% malamute and 75% husky, her under belly is completely black. neither of her parents were agouti or dirty faced they both had normal husky markings and fur, the dad was black and more of an off white kinda like a cream color and the mom was just normal black and white.

Hello. My name is Diego and my new red husky just arrived 5 days ago and im pretty excited. Im new to these type of dog breed and is my first large breed dog. Ive alrewdy read bunch of articles and videos about how to take proper care of it and training. However Im a little concerned about Rocky most of the day spending it under furniture (beds, tables). Is this normal behavior as he is new to my home and environment? He comes out and plays, eats, and to go pee and poop but then he goes to his favorite spot under the bed. Is this normal behavior? Thanks to everyone and im happy to be in this community!

Greeting, I have a husky who is 4 months old. It bites a lot and I can't stop it, I've watched a lot of YT videos about it and there's nothing I can do. I try to distract him with training, but it doesn't work. As I train him to sit, to wait, to turn around, to come, everything is okay. When I stop and sit next to him, he jumps on me and bites my arms, legs ... I've had to throw away three jackets by now. Do you think that after a while the biting will stop or I have to seek professional help from a trainer.

Balto, is now 9 months old and after a lot of delays of shows, we finally had our chance in the ring. He did really okay for his 1st time, minus the complaints and whine. But I am concerned for his coat/tail, or as we say, The French Maid (duster). What do you guys think? Is it a fault? Is there anything else that might hinder us? Should I consider putting the shows aside due to the faults (I love him anyway) and follow his path of obedience? Might we wait out our puppy coat shedding (he has yet to do so, just occasional fly aways)? We would just really love some constructive criticism. As he is a beautiful boy and I am so proud of him, but don't want to dish out money i…

I'm looking into getting my first husky! I've read how they get lonely and have separation anxiety, so I'd like to get two dogs at once to try and minimize that. I don't know if I can handle two huskies, so I'd like to get a different kind of dog. I'm thinking a labradoodle. I figure that they'll be ok with each other, especially since I want to get them as puppies and raise them together. I know every dog is different, but does anyone have experience raising two dogs of very different breeds together? Is it likely they'll be friends, or will they fight? Also, if it turns out I'll be working more hours than I anticipate, and won't have a whole lot of time for two pup…
