Does anyone use this for their dogs? If so where do you get it form? Have been doing some research on it and looks really good, can even stop brown patches on lawn, as well as other things http://ezinearticles.com/?Benefits-to-Using-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-for-Your-Dogs-Health&id=729679...

I apologize in advance because this is going to be a huge rant. Finn is driving me bonkers lately. She shreds everything she can get her paws on, suddenly has decided that crapping on my apartment patio is okay. She will go and sit on the patio and ignore me for hours and hours and hours, and every time I reach towards her she RUNS. I've never hit her, although I do scold her when she's bad, if I catch her touching whatever she's just destroyed. She's impossible to walk because she's pulling all the time and I've been swamped so she hasn't been getting enough exercise. All of this goes on and then she's super cuddly at nig…

Hey all! I just had a question about Pongo being snippy. I know it's normal for a puppy to bite a lot and it has slowed down a bit. I'm just getting concerned because he seems to still do it when people try to pet him. He just wants to turn and chew on your fingers. I was just hoping that he won't continue to do this when he's an adult and hurt someone. At about what age does this behavior go away? He does listen when you say "no bite" but then soon forgets and goes and does it again. Also I've noticed that sometimes he gets carried away and starts jumping up at me and snapping while we're in the yard. Any suggestions for this too?

If anyone has any thoughts??!! Found this on a Beagle Site: If you live in the United States, you have heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis) in your area. This parasite is present in all fifty states, but most common in the more temperate parts of the country. The heartworm larva (Dirofilaria immitis microfilariae) is spread from dog to dog by mosquitoes. When an infected mosquito feeds off a dog, it passes the infection into the bloodstream. The larva or microfilariae stay in the bloodstream for a period of time and then attach themselves to the inside of the heart and can also be found in the blood vessels of the lungs. When they mature in the heart they add thei…

Its happened:confused: Went into a small shop to buy a wkd and tied the 2 up outside, the shop keeper said are they friendly, i said "yes" BUT the balck and white one (Alaska) doesn't like her head being touched, i even said "its prob best if you stroke the boy" >>> so im giving another guy the money for my drink and i turn around to find him dangling his fingers over Alaskas head.... She barked and snapped at his fingers and her tooth managed to get 2 of his fingers:( No harm done, no blood but he did feel it!!To me it was more of a warning bark/bite but he nearly missed her whole mouth, she then looked him dead in the eyes and barked/growled at him &g…

I was reading another thread about skin issues and I wondered something... How much should you bathe a puppy to get them accustomed to the tub and getting a bath? Right now I've been trying to get Pongo in at least once every couple of weeks so he's not so scared of being in the tub. His skin and coat seem great. Let me know your opinions about how often to bathe:)

I posted this question on another forum but am re-posting it here since I'm not getting much help elsewhere. I'm copying and pasting here so I hope you all understand my problem. In response to being asked how often I bathe my sibe, I responded... "On average every other month, give or take a few weeks. I don't think I've ever been able to go more than 3 months without a bath. I also give him a blowout every few weeks with the high velocity dryer and you would not believe all the crap that comes out of his coat in between baths...even I find it hard to believe after seeing it with my own eyes. And the crazy thing is I only get the crap out of his co…

Well had to take Noushka to the vets the other day (ear infection) the vet was really good with her, and we came to the conclusion that she should be put on a course of anti inflammatory drugs,(hips) and oh my word what a difference. The days before when she was going on her walks (just around the block) she would sit down for a 'rest', the day before the vets she actually laid down as she was squatting:cry:. After her walk she would just lie down all day, get up for food and toilets and that was that. Now though it's as if she has a new lease of life, yes I know she will be on them for the rest of her life but we want to make it a happy and pain free one. Now we feel we'…

Hi I was just wondering if anyone else experienced their husky having loose stools when eating blue buffalo. Pongo is on an EN diet right now which is just really bland and his stool was firming up but still soft. I started mixing in his regular diet of blue buffalo and it's runny again. What is a better food that might not upset his stomach?

While the pathetic begging look that goes across the face of a dog wanting chocolate can weaken the most stoic dog owner, stay firm. Do not give in. Ever. Once dogs have tasted chocolate, they want more. And for dogs, that's a bad thing. You might disagree, thinking back to a time when you noticed a dog enjoying a tidbit of chocolate with no deleterious effect. Don't be fooled. The problem, according to veterinary experts, is that eating a speck of chocolate leads a dog to crave more. It can mean that your dog will jump at a opportunity to get any type of chocolate, not knowing that certain chocolates are more lethal …

Hey all! When Smeagle told me about this forum she mentioned that not many of you trial your dogs in obedience so i thought I would post up a couple of videos of me working with my 5 year old siberian, Zero. I get a lot of people telling me that huskies are untrainable or not worth training because they never do what you say so I thought i'd prove them wrong Zero is definitely not untrainable (in fact, once he got the idea that I wanted him to give me the dumbbell he learnt the formal retrieve in 2 days) but there are times when I think he would give me the finger if he was physically able to. Usually it takes me about 2 minutes to teach Zero a simp…

Thought I'd throw this out there to see if anybody else has any experience with this or advice ... We've had our sibe Nik for years, and my other half Tim has had zero allergy problems with him. But when I adopted Dakota in April, it was soon clear that Tim was seriously allergic to him -- sneezing, wheezing, stuffy head, red, puffy eyes, you name it. So it was as if he were allergic to one dog and not the other! Well, rehoming Dakota is out of the question. I picked up a fleet of top-quality HEPA purifiers (one in each room where the dogs spend time) and got a top-quality HEPA vacuum (vacuum the whole house and furniture 2x week). We open up the hou…

im not going to say much on this just incase the breeder sees this, but we have just had to go and pick our 5 week, yes 5 week old pup up as the breeder felt they were ready to leave. i dont think he has had much if any contact with his mum from 3-4 weeks old, he is so tiny about the same size as ice was at 3-4 weeks old, the conditions they were being kept in was apaling, the first time we went to look at the pups they were 2 weeks old and was clean and all seemed good though and we put a deposit down on him and fell in love. he has been fully weaned now for at least a week but should i still give him some supliment milk? i know this pup shouldnt be away from his mum rig…

I've noticed a few people mention about training their sibe to be a therapy dog. Does anyone have any experience as to what this would entail, apart from a VAST amount of training that would be needed lol. Do they have to complete a course - i'm presuming they would have to be approved by some sort of body before they would be able to "work" What kind of "jobs" would they be expected to do as a therapy dog?

Maya is about 6 months old now, we're doing great with her, there is one thing that bugs me though. I feed her twice a day, about 1.5 cups of dry/wet dog food (pedigree puppy mix). We have gotten our routine down well, she sits on the floor patiently and quietly the entire time I am making her food, and even when I put it on the floor she will not touch it until i stand up and say "eat" the problem is that she almost literally inhales her dog food every time. My wife and I were so amazed that we decided to time her last night -- 1.5 cups of food in a little over 8 SECONDS! I guess I don't mind this so much since she waits patiently, but afterward …

I am currently sat here with Gizmo on the sofa having a cuddle, a little confused ! Im sure you all know (especially those that have been at the 1st meet up and at the camping trip) that Marley is dominant aggressive with other male dogs but know Im worried that his aggression has now passed to aggression in the pack ! The other night Marley and Gizmo both got into a bad scrap whilst I was outside with Bandit and it was only Daniel in the house with them and Daniel didnt know what to do, which I understand as he hasnt seen something like that before! I went running in to separate them by which time they had separated and both gone their own way.…

I'd love any input please on Indy that has come back into us. A bit of background: When I first started Irish Sled Dog Welfare at the end of last year, the first dog that came in was a Malamute, then I went and collected a lovely 4 year old sibe bitch and her two 6 week old puppies from a pound, they'd been surrendered. Apparently they were hand reared, I don't know why, but the bitch had a ceaserean, so I guess possibly rejected them. THe mum is definitely a PB sibe, stunning girl (very happily rehomed now, and spoilt rotten:)) and we were told the dad is a GSD, which I would agree with, as you can see it in both pups. They were fostered with a couple for a…

HI:wave: Alaska can be really aggressive, you wouldn't believe it, in the park the other day a staff/pit came over >> its owner looking all 'hard' in a hoody, walking over VERY slowly, and i said "could you call your dog please" and he said "hes fine". So his dog came over with that staffy confident/domminant energy and growled >> so i let go of the lead at once! Alaska attacked him and ripped his ear and the dog got Alaska in the cheek and she went nuts after this and really started multi-biting the dog:confused: I had to grab his dog and pick him up in my arms and scream at Alaska. The boy came over (at last) and smiled called his dog a "pussy" an…
