I've noticed Kimba's pads are extremely dry and very very rough to touch, is this normal and or should i ever put anything on their pads ie a cream or anything? I know they need their pads to be rough to a certain degree to maintain traction when running but not sure how rough if you know what i mean?

I have just been reading another thread where it was mentioned that some people thought white rice wasn't good for dogs. Can I ask why this is as we give Sabre boiled white rice with every meal as otherwise he is very 'runny' when he goes to the toilet and this seems to bind things together. We have given him it with every meal virtually since we got him four months ago without any problems but I want to know if we are doing the right thing.

Hey All! I'm just full of the silly questions today, but does anyone else's husky have trouble with slippery paws? Finn seem to be always tumbling and sliding, and I know that some of this is the puppy clumsies, but she has quite long fur on her pads and just can't seem to get any traction on the hardwood floors. I'm open to suggestions, as this makes training a nightmare because she's always sliding from a sit into a down. Thanks! Kate

OK, Skye will be 7 months old next week and after all that I have read here and elsewhere have decided to have her done!!! just interested on ppls views on these,my mums dog was spayed last week, she hasnt been well eversince, today , they took her back to the vet again cause she was coughing and being sick, they took her a few days ago and was told it could be down the the anasthetic, but as she was still coughing they went again and were told it is most likely kennel cough , mum went nuts cause lady is a monster and doesnt socialise with anyother dogs , so if it was the chances r she got it at the vets , they refused to accept responsibilty for it but offered to let lady have the treatment for free, im now wondering if i should get my 3 kennel cough shots??? what do you think ??????

just taken the doggies for shots, he asked what food they were on and when we said the boys were on the barf diet , he started going on, that we shouldnt feed any form of raw poultry , chicken wings r pretty much a staple of the boys diets, we said so and he started going on about them dieing from salmonella, he said the only way we should feed chicken is off the bone and cooked, sort of defeats the bones and raw food diet, he said they could have beef, didnt know cows had wings lol, so what do you all think about this ????

Hi all, just a quickie, have phoned around a few vets today, and some are saying different to others regarding the puppies first vaccinations, a couple of vets have said the first injection is at 6 weeks then the second is 2 weeks after that, yet other vets have said 8 weeks and then 2 weeks later, so which one is right, or are they both ok?? thanks, Adam xx

Awww Kaiser was really sick earlier on tonight - about 4.40 for about 10 mins, he kept heaving and heaving and only brought up a bit of phlegm. I was sat with him with the family "sick bowl" on my knee so he could be sick in it rather than on me lol Just kept stroking him and talking to him as if he were a child - i know i know i'm daft but i felt really sorry for him. He seems to be ok now, dashing about like crazy, well....he was until i heard a horrendous YELP and then crying from the back garden, i flew out of the house and kaiser came trotting round the corner on 3 legs!! He seems ok, nothing broken and the leg isn't swollen or hot to touch …

Hi all. I am new to this forum but am looking for some advice. I have a 5 month old male husky and the last few days he has had really bad diarrhea. I have been looking all morning for some info on food issues or if the fact he is teething could contribute to the syptoms. bee stings ? how would your husky react ? NEO was ok until mid afternoon ,then lethargic , didnt want treats- not like him at all .gums at the front looked swollen and didnt like being examined. phoned the vet but they said just monitor him- sugested 1/2 a paracetemal for pain relief. A couple of hours later all seemed to be ok ,had some food , no runs or vomiting at all . found half eaten bee on the grass hence the question.

im feeding raw now but mostly chicken/turkey necks, chicken carcas (spelling bad i know), chicken wings and the odd piece of liver everyweek. with that i have been giving her some raw veggies and fruit blended together with some oil and raw eggs. the question is i see alot of raw feeders feeding just meat with no bones attached and i have read that all meat given should be a 2:1 or 1:1 meat to bone ratio. how would this work with just feeding meat? i have been limited on what i give her beacause of this. just chewable bones like the wings and necks.. i feel the need to spice it up already im sure i dont have to but it gets boring feeding the same stuff over an…

How I became the Leader Im not trying to brag or be an insufferable know it all....I totally promise...but I was hoping to share some secrets of husky training for new husky owners. First, I dont prescribe to dog whisperer stuff...because to me an 8 week old puppy is totally mold-able so long as you practice with them, so you dont really need anying rough or unusual. As some of you may no I wasnt online yesterday. This was because last night Marley and Gizmo kept caughing and Gizmo was chocking at one point and also keep sneezing. As far as I know they have not been near any potential kennel caugh dangers. I discovered that where we keep them which is also where we keep the mop and bucket Jayes fluid has been put into the mop and bucket and also they have been close to a plug in air freshener and I suspect that this may be giving them an irritable throat and nose causing the sneezing and caughing. Hi all, My 2 huskys are currently 11months old and we feed them science plan puppy large breed. They have always had intermittent stools (not always solid) the vet just says give them chicken and rice if the stools go loose. Other people have told me it could be their food? Does anyone else have similar issues and have any adivce onto either a product or range of foods to try? I am going to ween them off the puppy large breed onto adult food next month. Cheers

Teaching this trick is good for doggy PR because it can give your dog an opportunity to greet people instead of jumping all over them. It is so cute! To perform this trick your dog must be able to raise a paw in the air while staying stationery. 1. Start with your dog in a Sit/Stay and move a few steps away from him.
