just interested on ppls views on these,my mums dog was spayed last week, she hasnt been well eversince, today , they took her back to the vet again cause she was coughing and being sick, they took her a few days ago and was told it could be down the the anasthetic, but as she was still coughing they went again and were told it is most likely kennel cough , mum went nuts cause lady is a monster and doesnt socialise with anyother dogs , so if it was the chances r she got it at the vets , they refused to accept responsibilty for it but offered to let lady have the treatment for free, im now wondering if i should get my 3 kennel cough shots??? what do you think ??????

just taken the doggies for shots, he asked what food they were on and when we said the boys were on the barf diet , he started going on, that we shouldnt feed any form of raw poultry , chicken wings r pretty much a staple of the boys diets, we said so and he started going on about them dieing from salmonella, he said the only way we should feed chicken is off the bone and cooked, sort of defeats the bones and raw food diet, he said they could have beef, didnt know cows had wings lol, so what do you all think about this ????

Awww Kaiser was really sick earlier on tonight - about 4.40 for about 10 mins, he kept heaving and heaving and only brought up a bit of phlegm. I was sat with him with the family "sick bowl" on my knee so he could be sick in it rather than on me lol Just kept stroking him and talking to him as if he were a child - i know i know i'm daft but i felt really sorry for him. He seems to be ok now, dashing about like crazy, well....he was until i heard a horrendous YELP and then crying from the back garden, i flew out of the house and kaiser came trotting round the corner on 3 legs!! He seems ok, nothing broken and the leg isn't swollen or hot to touch …

Hi all. I am new to this forum but am looking for some advice. I have a 5 month old male husky and the last few days he has had really bad diarrhea. I have been looking all morning for some info on food issues or if the fact he is teething could contribute to the syptoms. He is wormed regularly and has been on the same food for some time now, any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. T

bee stings ? how would your husky react ? NEO was ok until mid afternoon ,then lethargic , didnt want treats- not like him at all .gums at the front looked swollen and didnt like being examined. phoned the vet but they said just monitor him- sugested 1/2 a paracetemal for pain relief. A couple of hours later all seemed to be ok ,had some food , no runs or vomiting at all . found half eaten bee on the grass hence the question.

im feeding raw now but mostly chicken/turkey necks, chicken carcas (spelling bad i know), chicken wings and the odd piece of liver everyweek. with that i have been giving her some raw veggies and fruit blended together with some oil and raw eggs. the question is i see alot of raw feeders feeding just meat with no bones attached and i have read that all meat given should be a 2:1 or 1:1 meat to bone ratio. how would this work with just feeding meat? i have been limited on what i give her beacause of this. just chewable bones like the wings and necks.. i feel the need to spice it up already im sure i dont have to but it gets boring feeding the same stuff over an…

How I became the Leader Im not trying to brag or be an insufferable know it all....I totally promise...but I was hoping to share some secrets of husky training for new husky owners. First, I dont prescribe to dog whisperer stuff...because to me an 8 week old puppy is totally mold-able so long as you practice with them, so you dont really need anying rough or unusual. Chewbacca was one shy puppy when he came home and he was having separation anxiety issues. He wouldnt walk on a leash, or come when we made noise or called him, and we basically had to "butter him up" before we could do anything else with him. When we got him he ha…

As some of you may no I wasnt online yesterday. This was because last night Marley and Gizmo kept caughing and Gizmo was chocking at one point and also keep sneezing. As far as I know they have not been near any potential kennel caugh dangers. I discovered that where we keep them which is also where we keep the mop and bucket Jayes fluid has been put into the mop and bucket and also they have been close to a plug in air freshener and I suspect that this may be giving them an irritable throat and nose causing the sneezing and caughing. We have removed the mop and bucket so its outside now and the plug in air freshener has now been switch off and taken away. We are goi…

Hi all, My 2 huskys are currently 11months old and we feed them science plan puppy large breed. They have always had intermittent stools (not always solid) the vet just says give them chicken and rice if the stools go loose. Other people have told me it could be their food? Does anyone else have similar issues and have any adivce onto either a product or range of foods to try? I am going to ween them off the puppy large breed onto adult food next month. Cheers

Teaching this trick is good for doggy PR because it can give your dog an opportunity to greet people instead of jumping all over them. It is so cute! To perform this trick your dog must be able to raise a paw in the air while staying stationery. 1. Start with your dog in a Sit/Stay and move a few steps away from him. Go back every few seconds for a full minute to reward your dog for not following you.( If your dog already knows sit/stay you can eliminate this step) 2. Standing in front of your dog, ask for his paw, and click and treat him for giving it to you. Do this several times in a row. 3. Take a step away from your dog and ask for h…

It's easy to presume that when you get your dog home for the first time that you will both fall instantly in love and live happily ever after. But making that special connection isn't quite so simple. This is a two way relationship made up of a mix of many things including mutual respect, communication, understanding, tolerance, acceptance, confidence and trust - as well as affection. Forming that close bond takes effort and commitment which means you need to spend time interacting with your pet every day in a variety of ways. While any activities you do together will help create and strengthen the bond between you, it's imprtant to observe your dogs respons…

Ever mixed gravey with your sibes kibble? My dad mentioned the other week that as a boy he had a dog and they mixed gravy with the kibble and brought out a shiny coat.....so, i have tried this with my boys for a few days now and have noticed a huge difference. Their coat is lovely and so so soft and shiny - it's not affected their toileting either, i mix 2 spoons of Bisto gravy granuels and put half a cup in with their kibble. Just wondered if any one else had done this ??

Suka can: Sit, Stay, Sit/Stay 5 min w/distraction, Sit/Stay w/treat on nose, Down, Up, Drop, Shake L&R, Bed, Crate, Corner (for kitchen), Come, Outside, No, Ahhh, and relece command Ok which she gets on a dime! working on distraction outside with strangers and other dogs right now seems to be alot more of a hassle then i thought lol im working on teaching turn left and turn right but not too sure how to go about teaching running infront of me so we can get a head start on pulling ( without accualy pulling) i dont like the roll over command as it really has no …

There is a saying that dogs are a man's best friend; however, this may not be always the case. There are many cases out there of dogs being food possessive by growling at their owner, or dogs that will jump all over and nip for attention. In many cases, dogs with these behavioral problems lack one very simple thing and that is, leadership from their owners. Seven Secrets to a Much More Obedient Dog * Let Him Sit and Stay Let's say it's dinner time. Instead of just placing the food bowl down and letting your dog eat right away, have him sit and stay instead. At this point you are in charge of the food, therefore, you are in a dominant role. He wi…

When was the last time you took a peek at your dog's teeth? If it has been a while try it now. Flip the upper lip up to reveal your dog's upper and lower molars (back teeth). Do you see white, shiny teeth or are they yellow to brown? If the teeth have a small amount of yellow to brown stain on them, it may be plaque and most likely the pet just has gingivitis. If there is a dark yellow to brown, hard substance on the teeth, it could be calculus which indicates a more advanced condition called Periodontal Disease. Where does Bad Breath Come From? Bacteria harbor in plaque and calculus and release odors from the mouth we affectionately call "doggie breath." …
