I've noticed a few people mention about training their sibe to be a therapy dog. Does anyone have any experience as to what this would entail, apart from a VAST amount of training that would be needed lol. Do they have to complete a course - i'm presuming they would have to be approved by some sort of body before they would be able to "work" What kind of "jobs" would they be expected to do as a therapy dog?

Maya is about 6 months old now, we're doing great with her, there is one thing that bugs me though. I feed her twice a day, about 1.5 cups of dry/wet dog food (pedigree puppy mix). We have gotten our routine down well, she sits on the floor patiently and quietly the entire time I am making her food, and even when I put it on the floor she will not touch it until i stand up and say "eat" the problem is that she almost literally inhales her dog food every time. My wife and I were so amazed that we decided to time her last night -- 1.5 cups of food in a little over 8 SECONDS! I guess I don't mind this so much since she waits patiently, but afterward …

I am currently sat here with Gizmo on the sofa having a cuddle, a little confused ! Im sure you all know (especially those that have been at the 1st meet up and at the camping trip) that Marley is dominant aggressive with other male dogs but know Im worried that his aggression has now passed to aggression in the pack ! The other night Marley and Gizmo both got into a bad scrap whilst I was outside with Bandit and it was only Daniel in the house with them and Daniel didnt know what to do, which I understand as he hasnt seen something like that before! I went running in to separate them by which time they had separated and both gone their own way.…

I'd love any input please on Indy that has come back into us. A bit of background: When I first started Irish Sled Dog Welfare at the end of last year, the first dog that came in was a Malamute, then I went and collected a lovely 4 year old sibe bitch and her two 6 week old puppies from a pound, they'd been surrendered. Apparently they were hand reared, I don't know why, but the bitch had a ceaserean, so I guess possibly rejected them. THe mum is definitely a PB sibe, stunning girl (very happily rehomed now, and spoilt rotten:)) and we were told the dad is a GSD, which I would agree with, as you can see it in both pups. They were fostered with a couple for a…

HI:wave: Alaska can be really aggressive, you wouldn't believe it, in the park the other day a staff/pit came over >> its owner looking all 'hard' in a hoody, walking over VERY slowly, and i said "could you call your dog please" and he said "hes fine". So his dog came over with that staffy confident/domminant energy and growled >> so i let go of the lead at once! Alaska attacked him and ripped his ear and the dog got Alaska in the cheek and she went nuts after this and really started multi-biting the dog:confused: I had to grab his dog and pick him up in my arms and scream at Alaska. The boy came over (at last) and smiled called his dog a "pussy" an…

Hi Being new here I wasn't sure if you have already covered this (and I'm trying to send this from work) we have a young sibe pup who likes to take things to the limit... She nips me all the time dispite being told no firmly and being ignored (then jumps up behind me and tries to bite my head or pull my hair. Its all a big game), she also jumps up onto people if they sit on the sofa and tries to climb up on their shoulders and pull their hair. We have tried everything so any suggestions would be helpful. She is Bart Simpson on speed

Hey everyone! I just joined the forums today and I posted this in introductions but I figure I'll post it here too in case not everyone checks intros. My husky Pongo (11weeks old) does not like to go outside when the sun is out. I live in Ohio so it's only been I think 80F at the hottest this summer. He throws an absolute tantrum. I have to pull him on the leash until we are away from the house to get him to go and then it's a bolt back to the house and the air conditioning. I am afraid I am spoiling him. Any suggestions on making him like being outside. I try to wet him down if I think it's out before we start walking. I'm afraid of this becoming a problem with potty tr…

Maya is getting her back molar teeth in and she's been 'mouthing' me so I think they're bothering her. Her kong and bone were great when her front teeth were coming in but what would help ease her pain on the back ones? do they lose the baby molars that she currently has? thanks

Hi, (1) My one year old, Izzy, hasn't shed her undercoat yet. It's the middle of August and it's hot. I took her to the groomer to see if they could do it because I've spent hours upon hours working on it with no results. They were very confident they could get it out with a warm bath and special "shed less" shampoo and 7 hours later they were unable to get parts of it out and said her skin was becoming very irritated from trying for so long. Our other husky didn't shed his undercoat on his first summer either. Has anyone else experienced this? I just want her to cool off for the rest of the warm season. (2) My other question concerns flea control. B…

My Sibe Storm, is now just over 4months and has been on James wellbeloved since birth but has always had a dodgy tummy on it, so we've just changed him to Burns and he's now got nice tough ones, which is great but he always seems hungry, when before sometimes he would leave food in the bowl now it doesnt touch the sides! is there a reccomended amount for a husky? we feed him twice a day but he runs every day with me and sometimes can see his rib cage, as there's no comparisons around here im just going on what the food bag states onto how much to give him. Any other Huskys around cornwall for running? cheers all:cool::cool::2gunsfiring_v1:

I've recently noticed my 4 months old husky's behavior is unlike the other husky; he's always tired i guess and lying down, when walking him he stops in the middle and refuses to continue walking, he runs away when I try to approach or anyone else, when I try to play with him he runs to a corner and sits there without moving, when the other husky plays with him again he sits there without moving as if he's scared. Is this behavior normal? he is always sitting down laying his head on his hands and watching what we do he only moves and runs towards me when its time to feed him .

Does anybody else feed their dogs tinned mackerel fillets in tomato sauce? We give them to Sabre occasionally and he absolutely loves them, it's just I'ved noticed that half a tin contains 0.6g of salt which is 10% of an adults GDA and we give Sabre the whole tin. He doesn't get it regularly but this does seem quite a lot of salt!
