http://www.globalanimal.org/2010/12/02/man-who-created-labradoodles-regrets-the-cross-breed/25768/ (DOGS) The Labradoodle, a mix between a labrador and a standard poodle, was originally bred for a woman who needed a non-allergenic guide dog. Now, the man responsible for the breed’s creation says he regrets creating a new breed – and all of the problems that came along with it. – Global Animal Sydney Morning Herald If Wally Conron had known what was going to become of the labradoodle, he wouldn’t have bred the dog in the first place. It was 22 years ago and Conron, now 81, was working as t…

I rescued Kit in March of 2011 from the local humane society. She spent her first seven days in the hospital suffering from severe case of giardia. The poor mite pulled through and now lives up to her nickname "Devil Kitty".......She's always into something! For Christmas, I gave my granddaughter one of those jumping things that you hang in a door frame. For fun, we put Kit in it, just to what she would do. A bit of bouncing and turning and she was hooked! Purring loudly and eventually napping in the swing. I thought you might enjoy seeing her having fun. (P.S. - She is no longer a tiny mite of a kitty - she's quite a chunky monkey! LOL)

Well I have had my husky, Wizard, for a week now. My cat, Lily who is only about 8 months old, finally came off the fridge yesterday and was chillin on the couch with me. Wizard is very curious about Lily, he never gets too close though because Lily freaks out a little bit. So I was laying on the couch with Wizard on the floor next to me and Lily was laying at my feet. Then I felt something warm...and wet.. Lily thought it would be really funny to pee on me. Not on something but ON MY LEGS!!! I was so mad. I guess I need to give her more time to get used to Wizard. Its not like she hasn't been around other animals, I rescued her from a house with 5 dogs and 4 cats.. Not s…

Hello everyone well I'm planning to get a GSD for some reasons I liked it I do not know why.... Well I just want to know the attitude of a GSD? since gsds have this impression of killer/wild dogs. ( which I know they aren't) I want to hear peoples opinion on them are they agressive? are they bla bla bla? Thanks!

So, let's say if a person...not me, a hypothetical person, wanted to buy a snake...what would you tell them? Is the breeding of snakes regulated, is the situation as bad as dogs and cats? What would be the best and easiest snake for a beginner? Again - I'm not the hypothetical person. The hypothetical person is a friend. Oh, and is it a good idea to buy a pet snake when you have other pets in the house?

My boyfriend Skip who is currently living with me has 3 dogs. There are Bear (Jack Russell/American Bulldog mix) and Tika (Viggo's brother of course), who are at my house and then there is Rascal (border collie) who is staying with a very good friend. Yesterday, Skip received some sad news from his friend. Apparently, Rascal was having some trouble moving around. He was literally dragging his back legs as he was trying to walk. His friend took Rascal to the vet immediately, where he was diagnosed with a slipped disc in his back. There was a lot of swelling so the vet gave him some steroids in hope the swelling would subside. The vet also kep Rascal overnight. …

Ok, please don't judge me. My dogs are well taken care of, but we are in having to stay with my aunt atm and I guess her dogs were full of fleas. My dogs didn't have fleas before I came here and I have given them flea baths, and my mom put some cheap flea drops she had on them. Kodi, (Pomeranian), must be very allergic to them or something, his whole back is totally covered in scabs because he will not quit chewing and scratching. I have been cleaning them and putting antibiotic ointment on them but it doesn't help when he's constantly chewing and scratching. I won't have the money to buy flea drops till the first. I'm going to assume I need worming medcine to. I was just…

Anyone have any personal experience? I know they have good temperaments, dig and run like a husky. Keaton really wants a small dog, and obviously I'm all into Huskies so we've decided we will probably be adding an AKK, either puppy or older adult to our pack between February and April. Obviously I'm going to purchase from a very reputable breeder since they're a very new breed with some health issues, but has anyone actually ever met one? I haven't, just read about them and would love to know what they're like in person. Thanks!

calling Bec Staceybob Paranormal Wolf and anyone else who can help! Diesel has decided that he is MY dog, he is my shadow, which is quite nice, since the girls prefer their daddy and grey is a whore to whoever may give affection! only downside is he's become very protective over me. he's fine with the OH, but as soon as his dad walks towards me he is up and barking (a bit agressively, not excitement and not a normal bark), i thought he was just scared of him, but the OHs dads gf was just round and he done the same to her, got in between us and protected me (in his mind anyway) how can i curb this? i want him to still be MY boy, and i dont …

Are/should they be held in the same regard as wolf hybrids for how dangerous/unpredictable/difficult etc etc they are or can be? Or, are they domesticated enough that they are on par with Sibes and mals? One love

With a couple other people on here looking up their husky's history I thought I'd see if I could find anything else on Diesel since he was an owner surrender to the shelter. Come to find out I'm his 6th home and he's only 3yrs old His original breeder is a lady in Virginia but I haven't gotten a name or anything on her yet. I think I'm just going to stop now cause knowing how many homes he's gone to is painful enough for me I don't think I need to know anymore. No wonder the poor boy is an absolute wreck in training he probably hasn't had a solid amount of time to even bond with someone let alone learn things. Heck he didn't even know how to sit when I first got him …

When Diesel get's really excited he'll shove his head in between your legs and then sit down. Any idea why he does this? I'm thinking it's a being part of the pack thing but it's so odd lol

This is my mum's dog Rosie who is a Lhasa Apso X Shih Tzu. She does the "meerkat" everytime she wants to get your attention and is usually because she is telling us she is hungry. She sits like this for ages sometimes and does make me laugh. You may need you sound up quite high to hear all her little noises before her stunt! MaLSY6dpsec

OH's friend at work is trying to find a good home for a staffy x american bulldog (i think, cant remember the exact cross, but its legal breeds) young dog, about 6 months old, red and white (my favourite!!!), it was the friends nieces, but she doesnt want it, friend had it for a little while, but his wife has mental health issues and couldnt cope with it, niece took it back, now doesnt want it again OH just text me asking if i can try to find him a home, and we're now discussing 'fostering', but this will probably lead to the staffy staying, since they are difficult to rehome, and there is no way in hell im sending him off to his death in a rescue!…
