Take a look at this Husky and tell me what you think she is - other than looking like she's just a bit overweight. She in the Grand Companions Humane Society, Fort Davis, TX which is about 100 miles north of me. I have a message in asking about her - Avalanche needs a companion before he beats me to death!!!

These two are sisters, rescued together by Jolie when they were 4 months old. These are her children with fur. Kayak only knows them by photo due to the fact he is "that" Siberian, if it is small and runs, it's mine. What they have in common is, they came from the good human adoption agency:cheerleader:

For anyone interested in urban foxes, something a bit strange seems to be happening. Foxes are normally 'calling' in December of each each year, but I've heard nothing this year - dito with a friend in Leicester. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

omg ok. im gonna lose my marbles. Sonoma has been home a month and my cat still hates her. Sometimes they get close and sniff but then Lou either runs away and hisses and swats. I don't want either of them to be stressed so I wonder how long it usually takes for a cat to become friends with or at least deal with a new pup. She was brought home as a baby baby and we had hammer our adult male dog, and they're totally in love forever and ever but Lou just can't deal with the pup. It's not like I let the puppy maul her or anything and she still gets lovin' from us and she isn't even necessarily acting like she's pissed, just the cannot be near each other or Lou gets swat…

I was out walking Scout last night, across the street from a schoolyard. The yard is fenced in, but has pedestrian gaps spaced throughout. Lots of people take their dogs in there to let them run off some energy - I've done it before with Scout. Anyway, this woman was in there with a gorgeous brindle pit bull. I looked up to see him running along the fence, his owner calling him futilely. Then she saw the gap in the fence and went "oh no, oh no, oh no!" The dog bolted across the street straight toward us, fortunately just after a car had already passed. I specify that this dog was a pit because he was super friendly! I stood in front of Scout and said in…

I'm seriously at my whits end with this kid. We were doing great with his obsessive need to put cats in his mouth until tonight. This is the first outside cat we've seen this close so now that I'm calm and NOT wanting to sit on his face I can give him a little credit. BUT he STILL lunged and very nearly pulled me the 3' to the stupid thing that stood there all hunched up like that was going to do anything >_< I'm still super high strung so no hatred towards cats really just COME ON how are you just going to stand there-*aaaaand breathe* Is it seriously hopeless to get him to NOT want to eat cats? I'm feeling like this is just a losing battle and maybe I should move …

After finally admitting to myself that yes, diesel is DA and i need to do some serious work with him, i have decided to make a blog so that anyone interested can follow our progress and see how we are getting on. It'll also be good for me to read back and see what progress we've made and where we went wrong (i'll also give me hope to read the good bits after a bad day!) so for anyone interested: http://dieselthedadog.blogspot.com/2012/02/story-so-far.html

So, I'm thinking for my next dog I might get a GSD until I can get another husky. But, I'm concerned over the MANY health problems they face. Is it all from poor breeding? Or, even if you get your pup from a responsible breeder that shows her dogs...they could still develop these conditions? I've always loved GSDs, but I think what puts me off is their health problems. Are there any other breeds similar to the GSD (temperament, looks, exercise requirements, etc) that don't have as many health problems?

My boyfriend has a 5 year old black lab. He is a good dog exept that he never fails to eat everything he can reach. As soon as you leave the room he begins foraging around. If you leave any food within his reach he will eat it, wraper and all with lightning quickness. He will even eat the bread loaf if it is not pushed far enough back on the counter, and he is not above eating the butter for mac and cheese when my boyfriends mom is in the fridge getting the milk, or pulling the doughnut box off the table when you go downstairs. He knows what he does is bad, he only does it around less dominate members of the house or when there is no one around. I …

Hi guys, Since I couldn't get another dog, due to multiple reasons (money, mostly)...I'm thinking of getting a bird again. Perhaps not a parakeet this time...maybe something a little bigger like a cockatiel. The reason I'm thinking of a bird, is because we still have the cage and supplies from Pepi (my green parakeet that passed 5 years ago.) and my Mom & Dad said 'no' to any reptiles. And fish are just boring. LOL I have a question, though... Because of Suka's high prey drive...would he try to kill the bird? He hasn't shown any desire to chase birds in the past...he killed a robin 2 or so years ago...but that was becaus…

Hi guys, Was just wondering if anyone knew how long Husky's (or any dogs) live for if they are on the raw diet. I know its healthy and my Aya is on the raw diet, but nobody has mentioned anything about life expectancy. A wolf's expectancy is generally 7 years (and they are eating raw) as opposed to general domesticated dogs who are fed kibble and live for 10-15 years. If feeding kibble will help my Aya live longer I might be persuaded to switch because I definitely want my baby girl to live her maximum life span, if it was up to me she would live as long as I would. Thanks for any help.

Since I haven't had any major issues with Avalanch this is more amusing than anything else ... as long as it doesn't become a habit! I like this, I can run and toss it and it's lots of fun!! And for those times you want me to be quiet, I can knaw on this for hours!!! But, daddy, they were on the floor ..... That was a new pair of jeans!!! The first time I wore them, he chewed on the button and zipper. Since I can get around real casually, that wasn't a big problem. The second time I wore them he decided to go whole hog on the zipper - and awe, hell, let's chew on the leg as well!!!! …

i have a gsd who will be 4 in june, she has always had skin problems ( we have had skin test's and done food allergy tests, but nothing is showing as an obvious problem ?? ) we believe it is linked to being outside in the grass ? but one concern i have is that she keeps getting a reaccuring spot, ( like a teenage spot ) on her shoulder.... we have spoken to the vet and she is given antibiotics each time we visit....but after a few days of antibiotics finishing the spot re-appears, i have started squeezing the spot, and each time a load of white'ish stuff comes out, the area will go down, but with-in 2-3 days the spot is back ??? any ideas as my vet cannot under…

Aside from my Husky that I got on Saturday, I have 3 chihuahuas and 2 of them have this odd coloring on their skin. It hasn't been that cold, but it began to be really cold on Sunday. I noticed these spots near their ears on Monday. It got me even more worried, knowing that both of them had it. What could it possibly be? Maybe their fear of my Husky (which I'm working to get them along) made them have this weird reaction? I bathed them to try to see if it was dirt- no luck. Any answers would be appreciated.
