We are thinking about getting another dog to help teach our male husky pup how to behave and also to keep him company. Was wondering how old to get the dog (maybe 3?), what breed and if we should get a bitch or dog? I think i'd like a bitch so my boy could have a gf but i'd definately get them both done so no puppies arrived Advice welcome

Does anbody have experience with training a rhodesian ridgeback? I have a beagle cross RR and it is proving impossible to get her to listen to me, ive been told its a dominant thing and she does see me as the leader, she doesnt get any attention from me until she does something like sit or give paw aslo doesnt get to eat until I say so, ive tried eating before her, walking through doors before her, and a few other things but im no further forward. Some of the problems im having with her are: 1) pees in the house when I leave (not so much now) 2) refuses to look at me when im telling her to do something 3) pulls terribly on the lead, doesnt listen when out Than…

Saw this on another forum, thought it was pretty intresting: (DOGS) The Labradoodle, a mix between a labrador and a standard poodle, was originally bred for a woman who needed a non-allergenic guide dog. Now, the man responsible for the breed’s creation says he regrets creating a new breed – and all of the problems that came along with it. If Wally Conron had known what was going to become of the labradoodle, he wouldn’t have bred the dog in the first place. It was 22 years ago and Conron, now 81, was working as the breeding manager for the Royal Guide Dog Association of Australia when his boss set him a tough task. A blind woman from Hawaii had written a…

So as you know i have 2 of Robs parents dogs until Saturday the first day was an absolute nightmare with the result of a note on my door due to the level of noise. Now i am concerned that when i am at work she is going to create massively again. I am putting her in with Connie so that they are together in one cage now as this seemed to help slightly over night. They are silent through the night now so is a good start. My dog sitter will be coming in to let them all out the same as normal just plus two dogs so i am hoping she gets on alright as they are insane these two dogs i have warned her though. It is an abs nightmare having them here in the future i dont thi…

We went and officially adopted Miss Gloria today (Siberian husky/German Shepard mix). We even got to surprise the kids with her. We were planning on changing her name, but she seems to be responding well to Gloria, and that's what the kids are calling her now anyway. (So much for a name pole here, darn it! Oh well. Lol) They took a picture with us, so beware... My OH and I had just finished putting up the fence not 20 minutes before we got her. So we are very dirty, dingy, sweaty, and yucky. (I didn't know we were getting a picture, otherwise I might have done something with myself!!) Oh well, its all over Facebook now for the whole world to see! Lol

All night I have been plagued by a terrible smell. Like BO/gym shoes/wet dog all rolled into one. I showered after my run, and I even got my husband to smell my arm pits, because I just couldn't figure it out. Finally after hours he told me the cat puked on my chair earlier today. He wiped it off but didn't clean clean it! Men! Sure enough, cat puke smells like BO/gym shoes/wet dog. I got out the cleaner, sigh. (This is evil cat - we have two. Evil cat gets upset when the time changes and her dinner is late, so will meow at us angrily, and when that doens't work, will walk up to our German Shepherd, meow to make sure we are watching, and then haul of…

Well Cheyenne is now a whopping 10.5 pounds, so .5 pounds over weight for a long hair cat. It isn't too bad but she needs to go on a diet. We usually continuously feed her, as when we first got her she was so starved that just putting a cup in there sent her into hysterics everytime she saw the bottom of the bowl. She would vomit and I mean freak out. So the vet said to continuously feed her even though the usually don't recommend that, but in her case she needed it. Well we have had her for over a year now and thinks it is time for a diet. Any ideas on how to go about doing this? Should we just pour the amount it says on the bag in the bowl or give her more and then wean…

Delta has been super clingy the last 2 and a half months. Delta is the type of cat to sleep a lot and go crazy at night bolting up and down the hallway doing backflips on the walls and doors lol she isn't very affectionate unless she wants food then she's your best friend until you give her the food Then She goes back to ignoring everyone. One night she was even sleeping with her head on Sasha's tail which never happens they don't normally get that close to each other. Lately she has been sleeping either on my hip between my legs or half under the blackest next to me either place she sleeps she has to be touching my belly which she's never done. The time frame she ha…

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've had a lot on my plate the past few weeks. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I decided that we weren't working out and since we live together I am moving out. We're still friends and on really good terms. There aren't any hard feelings and who knows maybe one day we will work it out. We just know for now it's not possible. Anyways, this brings me to the worst part about the whole situation. Knox. My boyfriend has decided he wants to keep Knox. I kind of knew this was a possibility but honestly I never thought we would be in this situation. Luka will obviously be with me, there isn't even a question of that. He said I can see …

So the other day I found one of the tags who belonged to one of the dogs I grew up with, my heart sank, and since then I've really been thinking about them, its been 6 years now and I still miss them like the first day... Tonight, I remember I had posted pictures on a picture site years and years ago, and after many google searches and digging my brain to remember the name of the site, to my amazement I found it, and their pictures, I shed quite a few tears, as I hadn't seen pictures of them in years and remembered how beautiful they both were and how much they meant to be, so here they are... Samba was our first dog, she was a black Labrador Retriever Rod…
