A year ago today, I had to go through the hardest decision I ever had to make, to euthanize the best friend I've ever had, Taz. A lot of you know of him, because I talk about him all the time. He is always with me and in my heart. He was 2 months shy of being 15 years old, and had been diagnosed with hip dysplasia at the end of April 2011, and no amount of pain medication could undo the damage or slow it down and he deteriorated very fast.. it was shock, and it was a quick decision. I don't normally go into detail about the dreadful day 1 year ago, because a lot of it disturbs me and I felt it was not as peaceful as it should have been (not because I waited too long, beca…

This morning I lost my baby kitten (I say kitten she was 2 and a half). Kiara was the 1st pet I ever had that was my own and she was a Christmas present when she was just 8 weeks old. She slept in my bed almost every night since I brought her home just over 2 years ago. This morning when I took the dogs out she slipped out too. I didn't notice and I tool the dogs to the other side of the main road. Kiara thought she would come to and would always come with us on dog walks (yes I was the crazy lady in the village being dragged along by 2 husky's and being followed by a cat). This morning at 8:30am she tried to get to her mummy and was hit by a car. I knew instantly that sh…

As a new member I wanted to post a brief tribute to our first Husky, Jasmine, who we lost to cancer in 2009. We adopted her as a senior from a local shelter after her previous owner dumped her because he "got tired of a dog that was always trying to run away". Well she never tried to run away from us. In fact the one time she accidently got loose she calmly walked up to me in the driveway as if to ask "how do I get back inside?". She was our beautiful, gentle girl with electric blue eyes and the 4 short years we were blessed to be owned by her turned us into lifelong Sibe people. We still miss you Jas!

One year ago today, I lost my beautiful nearly 15 year old baby. I can barely type this out. The pain is still that fresh. He was gorgeous and the sweetest dog ever. I love him and miss him.

I have not yet lost a furbaby, nor do I ever want to, but it is a part of life and happens all the time. This is something for all of those out there who have lost a family member. My heart goes out to all of you. NORTH OF THE RAINBOW BRIDGE MakWa4me (Siberian Husky version) revised for all sled dogs by Stephen Peters The time comes. A sled dog lifts up its head. There is an untested adventure beyond. Time to go. Across the Rainbow Bridge is a place for all dogs. A river runs wide and shallow with tennis balls that fly with their own wings; that is the place for a Labrador or Golden to await its master’s arrival. A sled dog is not cont…

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, ... When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the gra…

I had to give my Cheyenne a final face scratch and kiss on her head this morning. With the pain of Dakota's loss still so fresh, it was that much harder to say goodbye to her. She was in our lives for almost 17 years. It's just not going to be the same in this house with two of my most beloved gone from our home. I got Cheyenne at the age of 21. I had just moved to Indianapolis with my 3 year son for a job opportunity when I decided it was time to have a pet of our own. I picked her out of, I think, a dozen kittens. She had a black mustouche that was just too cute to pass up. She has been through almost all of my adult life with me and all of Colton's childho…

My boyfriend's border collie Rascal has had a setback with his slipped disc injury. He is to the point where he cannot move his back legs at all. When this first happened a couple of months ago, he was dragging his back legs a bit. My boyfriend and his friend Perry (he took Rascal in when my boyfriend had to sell his house... his other 2 dogs- Tika the Husky and Bear the American Bulldog mix- live at my house with my Husky Viggo) decided to try crate rest. Miraculously, it worked. But it did not last forever sadly. Rascal will be PTS at 11:00 AM EST. He is 11 years old and is the most obeidient, sweetest dog you would ever know. Run free over…

Best Friends A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a... long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward …

My best friend, and first dog was a standard poodle, named Monty. I was 7 when we got him, and he helped me through a lot of difficult time. We had an understanding I have yet to find with anyone/anything else. For a couple of weeks I had been begging my mum for a dog, it got so bad that I was actually acting like a dog. Luckily for me my mum wanted a daughter not a human dog, so she caved J I wasn’t the best owner in my younger years, but the older I got the better I got, and he never judged me on it. He never did anything wrong, was extremely intelligent, calm when he needed to be and playful all the time. When I was ill or u…

We had to let our Big Boy, Buddha, go this morning just before noon. He went very easily, and better then we expected. He took a turn for the worse over the weekend, and we just couldn't let him go on that. He was 13.5yrs old, and my husband and I's first dog together. He was kind, loyal, protective and a great role model for the two huskies he was a big brother of during his life with our pack. Gracie Husky Pup with was with us the whole time to and from the vet, she sniffed him on the ride home for a little while, and then climbed in the front seat of the van and rested her paw on my arm the remainder of the ride home. It is an end of an era. Buddha is resting right nex…

This was mailed, written to us from a friend, for Sasha, shortly after she passed on to the Rainbow Bridge(6/28/2010), it really helped at the time but still so hard to accept. We have shared this with many of our dog fur-iends. The person who mailed this had to say good-bye to their "Josie", a few months prior to Sasha, Josie was a Golden rescue. We have transferred the poem onto this background image and made many copies to give at the appropriate time. Make copies for your Fur loving friends.

Sutula's Raphael May 21, 2005 - January 31, 2012 Farewell, my beloved fur-kid - run free over the Rainbow Bridge, and know that I love you and will miss you! Raffi has been ill recently, and got noticeably worse over the weekend. He apparently managed to eat a piece of metal at some point, as revealed through an x-ray today, which perforated his intestines. Prognosis, even with surgery, was not good, so I let him go this afternoon... He was one of the more special fur-people to grace my life, and I miss him terribly...

When we all ask the question" why don't they live longer" or "should live as long as we do" We think this is one of the best answers we have ever heard!! Sad, but true

...As I write this, we are still in shock...a beloved member of our furry family just passed away He was so young, he was just born Sept 2010. He means alot to us and we are deeply saddened by his early passing. He is a very special, sweet, laid-back, mild little cat and we miss him so much-we are still in shock as we can't believe it yet. He always went for walks on the trails with us, running with tail held high like a flag and zooming up a tree, then stopping there looking at us to make sure we saw him-what a great little spirit he had, what a sweet boy-we will miss him tremendously. Today, we lost a son and had to bury our little boy. We miss you Kifli

You all have known me through thick and thin, and I just sort of bounce back when time heals. Shortly before christmas, as I thought things were calming down, I too, calmed down. I truly hope that it will be many many more years before anyone else is lost. Our 3 year old, healthy (red-headed-stepchild lol)-orange tabby cat who was naughty but very sweet, died. I found him in the evening when I went out to put the huskies to bed for the night. The only comfort for us at the time is that his body looked so peaceful as if he was just sleeping. Tigger was a kitty that I adopted from the shelter while I lived in Hawaii, and even…

Yesterday I learned that a friend of Viggo and Tika had to be put down. I don't have all of the details, but I did want to post a special message to him. First a little about him... Rimsky was born a week after Viggo and Tika. He was the only pup in his litter so Viggo and Tika (and their other brother Kodi) adopted him. I remember meeting Rimsky when I went to visit Viggo at the age of 5 weeks old. He was such a mischevious pup... tried to steal my jacket. I saw Rimsky again 3 weeks later when I picked up Viggo to go home. It's funny, b/c my mom saw Rimsky and immediately said... "I like that black one." True to his mischevious nature, he even proceeded to st…
