It is with a very heavy heart i come to say goodbye to micha. micha was 8 years old. yesterday around midday micha collapsed paralysed down one side a unable to get up and then became unconscious. we rushed her to the vets and after 3 hours it was obvious she would not wake up so we had to have her put to sleep. the vet said it was her brain, but the cause was unknown without further investigation. Micha was far much more than a pet she had a real "joie de vivre" (joy for living). we taught her hide and seek as a puppy and i think it was this that taught her to return and as she was the alpha of our small pack the others returned when off lead. her quirky pers…

A lot has happened in 5 months. Hemi (black and white) passed on his own in the backyard in May after having seizures for about a year. I always thought it would be easier if they went on their own, I clearly didn't know what I was thinking; He was 12 years old. In October we noticed that Dakota's (white) back legs were starting to fail him. It's amazing how fast things can start going downhill. He got a lot of snacks and a sleepover in the living room the night before, he was 15. I miss them both immensely but am happy they are together.

It's literally breaking my heart trying to write this so I will keep it short. Brooke became unwell over the weekend and got worse last night. we booked an emergency appointment at the vets this morning and we all agreed that it was time to say goodbye. She was 15 years young and the most loving and loyal dog I have ever owned. She's going to leave a gigantic hole in our hearts. Goodbye baby girl. I love you so much. This morning, my wife sent me a text, Snowpaws had lost their majestic Teton. Teton was a red and white. His dad Stoli, was our Zoya's dad. We have stayed in contact with Zoya and Rohn's breeder since getting Zoya eight years ago. I remember when Snowpaws adopted Teton to another family a few years ago. He was no longer in his prime as a stud, and the breeder rehomed him so he would have a family environment. A few months later, a friend of hers who volunteers at a shelter, walked in one morning and saw Teton in a cage. His rehomed owner had dropped him off. Teton no longer fit their lifestyle. Teton was scheduled for being put down. She called Snowpaws. Within hours, Tet…

Such a sad day for us. 4 years ago my daughter and I rescued a husky, Skye. I worked with her to try and improve her life with great success. Unfortunately our pack would not accept her. A very dear friend of ours had recently lost his dog and so Skye's new home was found. Skye has had 3 plus very happy years with Lee Rowland (Husky-Gunner) but unfortunately over the last couple of days has suffered a string of very bad fits. She was pts at 5am this morning. Run free over rainbow bridge dear girl. Skye is the one on the settee.

With heavy heart I have to tell that barely two months after Dana's passing, Glala has followed here. She hasn't been the same since the loss of Dana. She's started showing signs of dementia and was confused when she didn't saw us. She had started howling again which quite honestly was one of the most saddest things I have ever heard of her. She's been incredible restless, not entirely 'here' nor herself and after she lost here appetite and will to walk earlier this week it has become quite clear to us her time has come. This morning she's been put to sleep. Ruth is devastated, she was the one she connected to. Glala has never been an easy and normal dog, she was one…

I lost my best friend today. After fighting cancer for 6 months, and doing so well, his condition suddenly took a turn for the worse (surgery complications, they think). He wasn't eating, he wasn't drinking, he couldn't walk around anymore, he was in pain again (despite the cocktail of pain meds he was on). He couldn't get comfortable; he was restless. So I made the decision, the one every pet owner dreads making. It was my first time making that call. The vet came over to our house, explained the procedure (what we could expect before, during, and after), and gave him a sedative. After a bit (all the while surrounded by his pack - the people he loved), he went to sle…

My baby girl Sasha passed away on Friday in a way she never deserved. (please note this post is just me getting my feelings out and might not be a pleasure to read) I am completely devastated to a point i have no idea what to do with my grief. That dog was my life she meant everything to me. I have not had a job since last may and she spent every single day with me. She spent no time alone because anywhere i went she rode in the front seat and always had her head on my lap or on my shoulder watching the rode. When i went places i could not go she would ride with me to my parents house and i would drop her off for baby sitting. We enjoyed activities like bikjoring, ka…

this is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do! unfortunately over the weekend Bings got worse , he couldn't even keep water down anymore and hadn't eaten for a week despite trying to tempt him , he wasn't a happy dog anymore , he managed to get upstairs last night and came for a cuddle which he hasn't done in a good while so i think he knew too that it was time but i don't want to dwell on the sadness i want to remember my boy happy and playful and the pain in the butt that he was like the day we got him and they said lets see how he does with your kids and he DIVED into my lap giving me kisses or the time he was determined to bury a piece of toast on our…

It's hard to let go...... Rex was 8 years old, been part of the family since he was 6weeks old. Of late he seemed to have some problems with his joints so was working with the vet to find a medication to suit his needs. He had the of day where he didn't want to run around but just lay quietly. On Tuesday 3rd of this month he was having what I thought one of these days but after 3days and swelling of his belly Thursday night he was straight to the vets Friday morning. They suspected internal bleeding and operated immediately only to be communicated that they found spleen tumour and several others. He wouldn't have lasted the next few days and had to let him go w…

Today, at the age of 12 years old, Dana has sadly been put to sleep. She was getting older and older. And although you wish the point of getting "too old" would be just crisp and clear one day but sadly it wasn't for Dana. She's been gradually declining over the past few years. On some days you wonder if she'd still be there next week, but then a few days later she's back herself again. But one thing was always clear, she is really getting older. And at some point you'll have to bite the bullet and decide when the quality of life has declined enough that it's best to decide to stop it right there. Some who've had to deal with this before will probably know how hard it is …

Today is the Autumnal Equinox - When both night and day are equally shared. It is also a time when Huskies who have passed, are honored by their Earthly caretakers with the lighting of a candle at 8:00 pm local time. This is done across the globe, so there is light to honor those beloved Huskies for a full 24 hours. If you have not suffered the loss of a beloved Husky, light a candle of hope - hope not only for your pack, but for packs all around the World.

So last night I came back to my dads and was welcomed by some heartbreaking news that ''3 pattes'' (3 legs), a cat we rescued a month ago had taken a turn for the worse. He made his final journey to the bridge on his blanket by my bed while being petted and loved until the end. 3 pattes as he became known, was a stray cat that was always around the house, he was lame for a while (hence how he got the nickname 3 legs) but did make a full recovery, a month ago we found him very weak in the grass. We just couldn't leave him there, and bought him to the vets, when they asked us his name we had nothing else than 3 legs (in French) and thats how he became known. We learne…

Let's never forget those wonderful Huskies that live on the other side of the bridge. Those Huskies that taught us that nothing is escape-proof, that hearing is a switchable trait, and that being a Husky Owner requires an IQ equal to the Husky. Let us always remember those tender moments when they put their head in your lap, or when the laid down by your feet after a long day. Keep their memory and honor their dedication, their admiration, and their love that they have to you without asking for anything in return. If you have not suffered the loss of a Husky, or if you have, be ever so caring and love those currently in your life. You may not realize, but they really ne…

Actor Patrick Macnee, star of The Avengers TV series, has died in California at the age of 93. The Briton, best known for playing John Steed in the 1960s television spy series, died at home with his family at his bedside, his son Rupert said. Macnee also played roles in theatre, appearing on Broadway, and served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. Born in London, Macnee grew up in Berkshire and was educated at Summerfields Preparatory School and Eton. At the age of the 11, he acted in Henry V opposite a young Sir Christopher Lee. He first appeared in the West End while still in his teens. He played a number of minor roles - including one in Laurence Olivier's …

Have not been on here much as life had a habbit of getting in the way but it is with a very sad heart I say that my beloved Keiko got her wings just over a month ago. she was only 6 years old, her kidneys gave out on her and my only option was to put her to sleep, I was with her but it was the hardest thing I have ever haad to do, but it was fer her, not me, and to say I am devistatied is an understatement (I'm weeping as I type this) I will have another husky (even if I hve been told no more) once I can find a breeder in the southern end of UK (and have the cash of course) as I don't drive so need to find one I can travel to easily. R.I.P my beautiful girl - g…

I am devasted there was nothing I could do, and I have been trying not to cry this morning. I have brought the cat home with me. But I am not sure what to do. My other half and son say I should just bury the cat and not say anything , but, I cannot do this. They are worried about reprisals as we do not live in the best of neighbourhoods and they are worried that they may do something to our dogs, they have given an example of throwing poisoned food in the park !!!! I am going to call the vets to see if they can scan to see if the cat has a chip. Normally the cats will all leave the park when the dogs arrive, we had been there 10 mins already. RIP Litt…

I know that he wasn't a Husky, but he was a wonderful part of our family for 8 years. MuuChee and our Kallie had this really amusing love- hate relationship, and she was so tender with him the last few weeks as he got weaker, even bringing him bits of food and laying next to him to help keep him warm. Our 17 year old Rag doll- Himalayan cross kitty passed away after being pretty sick with a really bad asthma related infection. We sent him over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday afternoon after it became really apparent that he wasn't going to recover from this. Run free, my little old man, I'll miss you, every day. Is it possible that our Kallie is mourning for Mu…
