xjocelyn
Aside from my Husky that I got on Saturday, I have 3 chihuahuas and 2 of them have this odd coloring on their skin. It hasn't been that cold, but it began to be really cold on Sunday. I noticed these spots near their ears on Monday. It got me even more worried, knowing that both of them had it. What could it possibly be? Maybe their fear of my Husky (which I'm working to get them along) made them have this weird reaction? I bathed them to try to see if it was dirt- no luck. Any answers would be appreciated.
Kissu & Aara
I've no idea. Maybe the start of a hot spot? Hope someone can help.

Daniel Cameron
Is it raised, flacky or itchy? it could be mite allergy or dermalogical fungal, or food allergy, could just be natural skin pigmentation changing. Best to get it checked at the vets. Hope there ok.
xjocelyn
It's not raised, not flaked, but I haven't seen if she scratches that area. I find it odd because two of my chihuahuas have it. It'd have to be something that they were both exposed with...
sutsibe
It's hard for me to see from a photo, but to me, it just looks like the pigmentation of their skin. Keep an eye on it, and watch for itching, and if it seems to be a problem, get it checked out asap...
xjocelyn
I'll try to take a better picture of it next time, but definitely will keep an eye on it.
sutsibe
I'll try to take a better picture of it next time, but definitely will keep an eye on it. It isn't necessarily the quality of the photo - more the limitations of the media!
Michelle Melsom
My moms chihuahua is having the same thing right now its where the hair seems a little thinner then other areas? could be a fungal infection, demodex or a seasonal allergy. Is it itchy or does it not bother them at all? do all of them have it?how old are they?
xjocelyn
It doesn't bother them at all. Only my two short haired chihuahuas have it. My youngest is approx. 2 years old and the other is maybe 3 1/2.
mydiamond
seems like a normal pigmentation to me.. I'm no expert tho just keep an eye and don't hesitate to ring the vet whenever u noticed something wrong

In chihuahua's they will grow faster then their skin and it has to catch up so they will end up with these spot sometimes if its not bugging them thats probably what it is my moms is around 2 as well
xjocelyn
that's a relief.. at least for now.. but I wonder why they began having it at the same time although they are different ages..
