... You never know how cruel major chain pet stores can be until you become a fish keeper. Ladies and gents, meet Merah. If you're familiar with the technical terms, he's a red Cambodian male Betta splendens. He lost more or less 90% of his tail either to fin rot, or excessive tail-biting to the point it got infected and became fin rot. You can also see he has about half his dorsal gone, and look at all those cute little tears and holes on his anal fin. To top it all off, I can see his bones no problem. At this condition, this boy is selling for a $19.99, because apparently he's supposed to be a Rose Tail. Now I'm not a millionaire myself, but I decided that if I walk awa…

I have no idea what to do, my staffy Lexi is 1, so she's still a puppy, but it's becoming a problem now that she's still play-biting because her teeth are obviously bigger and she's a lot stronger now, and also she's still jumping. It's to the point now where when she see's other people she's running over to them, jumping up and biting them (not aggressively it's ALL play, I assure you, she's the sweetest dog ever and not any of my dogs have ever done anything aggressive towards people). I've done everything I can possibly think of to correct her, I've yelled at her 'NO' because I get frustrated when she grabs me a little too hard, or jumps on me, I've tried complet…

We took Brooke to the park today to meet our son after school. She's totally deaf now, can't see all that great and her back legs are on their way out but that didn't stop her from running around the park like a lunatic. She got tired out quickly though so needed a rest on the grass. I decided to join her. [emoji3]

Out of nowhere I've been obsessively reading about the German Shepard breed and I think I have to admit I found my new favourite breed. Not that the husky isn't... But I think I found something that really fits with me. And it's only taken me 10 years to figure that one out. As a child I always loved the GSD breed. But upon reading about them I discovered they are not easy dogs nor dogs for people with no experience with dogs (which I was at that time). So I left it with that, thinking GSDs weren't suitable for me. But than I accidentally stumbled upon the Siberian Husky breed and have been involved with them for quite some time now. They were my first introduction to…

So my plans are to move South at some stage in the next few months, sadly this means Loki and Buddy are going to be separated Moving forward though, I was thinking Loki would benefit from living with another dog, as he really enjoys Buddy's company. Once I was set up and could afford another dog, I was considering a German Shepherd, as they seem to be a popular combination with huskies. I'm aware of the hip problems etc associated with them, but I've also heard they bark a lot. But, I'm wondering if they grow up from a puppy with a husky that basically never barks, maybe they'd be less likely to bark excessively? Anyone know or have experience with them?

I'm just wondering about this... We have a 8-9 month old blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Lexi, and I've just started to notice that she has darker blue spots on her... Is this normal and just how her markings are, or should I be worried? Thank you for any advice xxx

I've just returned from the emergency vet with my Leopard Gecko I noticed tonight that he seemed lethargic and hadn't eaten much lately so I took him out and planned on redecorating his vivarium and cleaning it out. However when I took him out his belly felt quite hard, so I put him on some glass so I could see underneath him - this is what I saw.... The blackness shouldn't be there and is a sign of impaction in the gut. So i bathed him and rubbed his belly hoping it would ease it for him but it didn't work I then discovered that lil dude is in fact a DUDETTE!!!! Girls have 1 bump under their tail, males have 2..... I was sold a male so never thought…

Awww lil dude has a sore nose Normally when gecko's start to shed they rub their noses to break the skin and then shed - I think my lil guy has rubbed his nose too hard Going to get some iodine tomorrow and see if that helps clean it up, if not he will be coming to the vets on Friday when I take my Chameleon back - might as well make the vet earn his keep!

Does anyone have any idea how to hand tame lovebirds? I bought Rin on Saturday, he's 7 months old, and since then I've been talking to him, sitting near his cage and putting my hand in the cage for 10 minutes about 2/3 times a day --- trying to get him used to my hand. He doesn't freak out and flap all over the cage, but he does move away from my hand and hang off the side of the cage, looking at my hand, still. Sometimes he'll chirp and eat some of his millet that hangs from his cage. As soon as I take my hand out, he settles back on his perch. Am I making progress? Do I continue doing this? Should I leave him a week or two before trying anything like this? I r…
