I just received Katie Bug’s breed report from Embark dna. She is 50 percent Siberian Husky (mom or dad was 100 percent husky). She has very course, straight, wiry guard hairs about 1 inch long that stick out from her face, neck, and upper back. Can the guard hairs on a husky be as I described or could the other breeds in her profile contribute to her porcupine appearance? She had min pin, chihuahua, boxer, chow, and shar-pei on one side of her family tree.

We’ve had Luna nearly 8 months, to recap we rehomed her at 6 years old and when we weighed her she was 29.5kg. She was rarely exercised at her previous home, owner said she just liked to lay around in the garden. She was at the Vet last week so I weighed her again. I knew she had put on weight because her Julius K9 harness no longer fit and I had to buy a bigger one. IMO she weighed in at 34.9 kg but the scale reading was moving up and down between that and 39kg! Even the lower weight is a worry. With us she gets walked twice a day, I take her out in the morning for between 40 minutes and an hour and hubby probably makes half an hour. I’m actually quite worried that …

Hello! I’m new, with this being my first post, but I have been desprate to ask this... So, has anyone been asked if their huskies are some other breed? Granted, I live in a country that is very unimformed, and my puppy is young being only 3 and a half months, although her features clearly show she’s a husky. I’m mostly being asked if she is a Japanese/American Akita, but there’s been the question of a Samoyed and other breeds... It’s really driving me crazy at this point, was just wondering if it happens to anyone else.

My 3 year old developed a little black spot in his mouth a couple months ago. It doesn’t really feel raised and when we touch it he doesn’t flinch.. I haven’t had a dog with light skin before, so I’ve never seen this. I’ll tale him to the vet soon, but I’m not sure if anyone knows what it is?

Are sibe’s hard to house break and crate train? Casey is non stop barking and howling while in the crate. I know patience is needed but at times it is unbearable due to the noise. Potty training is half and half. He goes outside every half hour to an hour. If he is out for play time in the house closely supervised he pees in a split second. He’s peeing in the crate which I thought dogs didn’t like to do. Help! I don’t know what to do.

I read somewhere about a collar and harness that could hook together for those babies that get out of them. What are your thoughts? Is there a simple hook/strap that joins them?

Oof. We had our first rainy rainy walk since bringing her home on Saturday. She is NOT one of those huskies that doesn't want to go out in the rain. But she's also SUPER furry. I took her out twice this AM (she gets a long walk at 6:15am, ~45mins and then a shorter ~20min walk at around 8:30am before I head to work) in the rain. Now, to put it politely, she has that wet dog smell. I didn't even think Huskies got that! My mistake. To put it impolitely, STINKY POLAR BEAR!!! The first time, she shook off, I lightly toweled her (keep in mind she's still new to our family so I want to go slow with the new grooming), and then I brushed her. She then cleaned her own fu…

Hello everyone, So here's our situation... sorry for the long story. Our little Ghostypup was due to be spayed on 25th May 2018 (in a month and a half), this was 3 months after her 2nd season. She goes in to day care 5 days a week while my partner and I are at work. She went into season on the 1st of February, we contacted our day care and they were happy to have her in whilst she was in heat, they would just separate her from the males. There was a few incidents where I turned up with Ghost having pre-booked her in to be told on the door there were entire males that that day, I had no choice - I had to leave her, they assured me that they would be separate com…

I bought a dog and he’s now 3 MONTHS old. Yesterday, when i uploaded a pic of my husky, a friend of mine told me that it’s a mix breed. I’m really worried about it. Please check the photos and tell if it’s a mix breed or pure. I’m from India and i do think that he’s not growing perfectly, the way he should (he’s kind of skinny). Please check and suggest me some food intakes along with quantity if possible. At the moment i’m using “Hills - Science Plan”. A little help from your side will be really appreciated.

I found this Husky over a week ago in Murfreesboro Tennessee. He is not micro chipped. I have filed a report with Animal Control and a local emergency vet. I have posted signs in my neighborhood, posted on three local lost pet pages on Facebook, posted on NextDoor, Craigslist, posted on my Facebook page, my neighbors Facebook and my daughters Facebook page. I have reached out to 4 local rescues. I have received no help or response from an owner. I need to find a good home for this dog.

Our beautiful Sampson is two years old. He is super friendly towards people, loves other dogs, is playful, sweet, a momma’s boy and is incredibly well behaved. Normally after his nightly run and dinner he loves to lay in our courtyard until bedtime. We have noticed that when our son comes home from college Sampson always retreats to his crate. He doesn’t appear to be afraid of our son and he doesn’t shy away from him but he always retreats to his crate and won’t come out. Is this normal has anyone experienced this type of behavior?

Hi everyone. Things are going well with our little bundle of joy except one thing. You guessed it, he’s chasing my 2 younger cats. He actually had Henry pinned down and it scared me. Olive he hadn’t had much success with as she hisses and goes into attack mode while retreating up high on the cat tree. Our oldest cat Jack is 9 and just swats him hard in the head and doesn’t even move. Casey doesn’t seem to bother to much with Jack. I’m worried about my other 2 and the possibility of him killing them. Wondering if we should redone the young ones even though it will kill me to do so but thinking of safety first. BTW Casey is 3 months old.

Hi folks, Wonder is anyone can tell me if this is normal. My girlfriend has a male siberian husky who has just turned 4, which has until recently has certainly been a handful that keeps her busy🙂 with all his shenanigans., we knew this before so it was no suprise. Lovely dog though. Thing is since a couple of weeks all he does is sleep sleep sleep. All the funny things he used to do, he no longer does. Now all he does all day is well..... sleep. Is this normal, is this just because he is getting older....? Does anyone recognise this sort of behaviour? Thanks for looking. Cheers Bram

I went home to clare yesterday left the dogs in the kitchen came back no mess was made delighted coz i was gone a long time. The dogs were fine. I fell asleep on the couch last night with the dogs. Got up fed them. Penny keeps jumping the wall so she has only been let out on a lead. Today she kept crying and led me to the back garden so i thought she missed being loose so i let her offlead and sat in the garden with her. She was still crying so i thought maybe she couldnt reach the water at the end of the bucket. So i changed the water. She is still crying. I dont know whats wrong she is walking arround the garden crying. Do you think she just wants to jump over to next d…

Hi new friends. Today we started Casey on crate training since the little devil climbs over the gates with the greatest of ease. I know the crate is the best thing for him but the crying kills me. I won’t let him out tonight. I won’t let him out tonight. I won’t let him out tonight. He has his favorite big pillow and babies and I gave him a Nyla bone to keep him busy and quiet. The quiet lasted 5 minutes-lol. Please tell me it gets better, I need the reassurance. 🤦🏻♀️

My puppy is 6.5 weeks old but only one ear has stood up. I understand this is young, but almost all of her brothers and sisters ears are already erect. Do you guys think the right will stand up like the left?

We've had Luna about 8 months now. She had the most hairy thick coat when we got her and ... she still has a thick hairy coat. It’s now May, the weather has been warming up and there’s no sign of her losing any fur. Granted she’s been an outdoor dog all winter, she comes in when she feels like it so I guess she’s hung on to her coat because it’s been very cold and wet. Is this usual? I know I’ve read on here that huskies blow their coats twice a year but it’s just not happened. I’m not particularly worried except how she'll cope in the heat that’s coming our way. She can get out of the sun if she needs to and always has water indoors and out. Is she unique lol? Sen…

Hey Guys, new here. Bought my babyboy Cosmo a week ago, he is a red Husky...or so they told me. I didn't ask for papers upon purchasing him (i know). And now im wondering is he is in fact a purebred Husky - not that it matters, he's beatiful to me either way. But he's got green eyes, not blue...and he has a 5th toe on his hind legs. Any feed back would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I have been looking husky's for quite a few years now but my circumstances meant I have had to put it off for a while. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience raising two husky puppies together and their thoughts on this. of course the training and work will be double, but for the dogs themselves is having two together better for each other in terms of company when I am not in the house. I am a teacher and work from 9am to 3:30pm. The plan is to get them at the start of the summer when I am off and free the entire summer months so I will be around there all day for the earl months. Am I completely mad for thinking about getting two at the same time, because I…

So Koda is 13 months old. He began his first "blow" at the beginning of March. It went on and on. I brush him everyday. He has two areas where his hair is extremely thick and wont blow. I took him to the groomer, who is my friend, and she said I should have his thyroid checked. He had bloodwork done in Feb. and was fine. The hair around his tail and his tail is thicker than the rest of his body. And his undercoat is thin. Not thick and flowing like others I have seen. Am I brushing him too much? His skin is not flaky or crusted, his gums are pink, his poop is firm, his teeth are amazingly white, his paw pads arent rough or yucky. I can only find things about conditi…

So when we go on holiday we put Cai and Luka in the kennels it's a 5 min drive in a small village that's surrounded by sheep. They've both kennelled there since 6 months of age, I'm happy with the care they receive, he's a good bloke, an old fashioned dog man! He repeatedly tells me he wished he could of had them for about a month at a time, separately, and he would have trained them to walk past the sheep with no reaction, I say it can't be done, he says it can. So bank holiday weekend I'm taking my 13 year old off for 2 days and they're going to the kennel, again this morning he said he could train it out of them, he's currently training a lab not to do it........say …
