I am wondering how you all came up with the names you chose for your sibes: Olympia was named for MT Olympus from the movie Clash of the Titans {the first movie I saw with Hubby when we were dating} Hailey was supposed to be after Haley's comet, but that AKC name was already taken so she became Hailey the blaze N blue eyed devil Very fitting by the way lol... Mariya was named for the song from paint your wagon {a Clint Eastwood flick} The song "They Call the Wind Maria" {Pronounced Mariah in the song.} She howls when she hears the song lmao Jonah was named from a part of the same song as Mariya "They call the fire Joe " …

Hello all, Here i have Ohana which is my 20 week old Husky mix. Currently i weighed and measured her height yesterday and she’s already 18 inches to the withers and 43LBS… everywhere i search up online tells me shes overheight and over weight unless shes mixed with Malamute. When i first purchased her at 11 weeks she was already 18.2 LBS. She eats a raw diet and i use feeding calculators. We take 2 25 minute walks per day so i dont think shes overweight. Any ideas? Ill attach her Wisdom Panel results so the DNA can be seen. Her mom was a boxer/pit/GSD/herding mix. Dad was a full bred Siberian Husky, both were 62Lbs. I can attach pictures of both parents aswell. here ar…

Good morning all, Thought I would start a forum just to chat about your girls labor/experiences and to share ours ☺️. Day 56 today, no signs of labor as of yet. Checking temperature 3 times a day, morning, evening and night (patiently waiting for the drop). Recording 37.9. Sick twice this morning and haven’t eaten her breakfast. Babies are very active. We have everything ready for her and currently sleeping down stairs just to keep a close eye 👁🥰 Nervous but excited at the same time!!

Hi all Couple of questions... 1. Harness - Arjun seems to pull back when we take it off...like a bat out of hell! Is that normal? Is there anyway to calm him so that he allows us to take it off easier? 2. Cleaning paws - on the whole he is fine but aometimes he really does not want them cleaned. Any ideas how to do this without using treats (what we do)? 3. Nipping - recently when Arjun comes in from peeing and we are about to clean his feet he has tried to nip our noses when we get close. This has happened once to me and once yo my wife. He doesnt catch us and we give a stern NO which makes him lie down like he has done something wrong whilst we ignore him. It seems …

Hello fellow husky owners! I have a beautiful female husky named Kazu, she is 5 years old now and is much more tempered than she used to be before. I'm here today because I'm looking for advice/recommendations on electric fences. As much as we love our little escape artist, we simply cannot give her the time she needs outside as we are both currently fulltime students. We have a fenced in back yard, but we all know that won't stop a determined little fur ball. We have put off installing a doggy door for this very reason, but the time has come, not just for the husky, but for our pit bull as well. The idea is to install an electric fence a foot or two within the existing f…

Hello All, We have owned Northern breeds for around 2 years now and have never shaved them in any way, BUT, I am in search of some answers that I am having trouble locating. Since we have had our dogs, we have heard nothing but "no no no shaving under any circumstance", but no one explains why past the one additional sentence that follows (because it helps regulate their body temperature). Does anyone here know the specifics on this? Further information... extensive information on this...? From what I have read, it could effect them primarily in extreme conditions. Would love to break down the science on this so I have a better understanding of my dogs b…

Has anyone ever heard of huskies being used as seizure response dogs? I've been reading up on these types of dogs because I have a nephew and an older brother who suffer from epilepsy and I started wondering if anyone has ever tried using huskies. I know huskies are very intelligent but they may be too prone to running off to be able to be relied on for this type of thing... Just curious...

Okay been thinking about this since we had Isis, and we are pretty much certain that we are going to get Isis spayed - she is just finishing her first season, but after Leannes post about Sassy and her incontinence and my mums dog having similar problems - when would you consider the best time to spay a bitch? I know that spay incontinence is rare and could happen at anytime - just curious in your opinions!

Hi All, We're looking at moving from the UK to NZ with our husky in 3/4 months time. He'll be three years old, but has separation anxiety and I was a bit naive in thinking that someone's in cargo with them but that isn't the case. We're now worried as we've managed to leave him on his own for 3-4 hours but not for 12 hours as will be needed for this kind of flight. The pet travel operators think it will be fine, but we're worried/nervous and wondered if anyone's attempted this before? We have a few months to work with a trainer on this, but wondered in the meantime if anyone had any advice? Cheers in advance!

Hi! Hope all of you are well and your dogs are well. Can anyone tell me how good/bad is the "Josera" dog food brand? Also, how does it fair in comparison to Taste of the Wild and Royal Canine? Thank you for taking out the time to go through my post. I hope you have a nice day!

So I will be getting a purebred siberian husky puppy come February (she is 11 days old now) and I am going to be collecting a variety of different toys for her to see what she likes best. What kind of toys do your dogs like? What brands do you find the best? I know she will probably just destroy every toy as she ages, but I would like to find some good quality, budget friendly toys for her. I already have a puppy kong, some walmart toys that vary from squeakers, plush and balls. Today I went to a local pet store for boxing day sales and picked up a couple more toys at 50% off (yay!) and those toys vary from crinkle stuffing-less, bottle toy, rope toys, spiky ball to…

I’ve been offered a job in London on decent money. Was wondering if anyone on here would allow me or knows of anyone who would let me rent a room with dogs allowed in the house. i know this isn’t a normal request but someone’s gotta love animals as much as I do and could do with the extra cash. ive looked at renting a house but it’s too expensive for me. Any advice welcome.

Hello! We just bought a house and we're looking to add a dog to the family. There are a couple Siberian Husky puppies (9 weeks old) we're thinking about getting (one of them... not both!). Neither my husband or I have ever had a husky. We have 2 boys (10 and 15) and 2 adult cats. I've been reading "guides" and tips online about huskies and cats and it kinda seems like it'd be ok with certain conditions (training the dog ofc, cats having a place to run to for peace/safety, etc). But most of that seems to be about bringing a husky dog in... not a young pup and raising it around the cats. So I literally just registered here to get input from experienced Siberian-Hu…

Hello everyone. My almost 2 year old has been acting aggressively towards the other dogs that I have. She’s always been around them since I brought her to my home at 7 weeks and has never had any problems with them but for the last month she’s been very mean and aggressive to them. I’ve had to separate her from them for their safety and I just don’t know what to do anymore.

I live in Arizona. I have a husky who doesn't blow her coat. My groomer hates working on her, and everything I've tried so far does nothing to help brush out hair. Any suggestions?

Hi All. Not sure if this the the correct place to post this? I having been having issues with footwear since I got Mowgli. First I brought a cheap £40 pair from Sports Direct and I wore from them in 2 months. At this point I was doing around 6 miles a day. I then decided to go for a £90 pair, again from Sports Direct. These lasted 2 weeks as they started leaking and were returned. I then bit the bullet and went for a £160 pair of Scarpa Boots. These felt amazing and were very water proof. After around 4 weeks I noticed the tread was wearing down very quickly and uneven. At week 6 I had worn through to the midsole on parts of the boots. Now walking around 10miles …
