I've got a husky/German Shepherd mix whos a couple weeks away from turning two. He's very underweight, very small. I've tried every type of grain free food available on shelves and he just won't eat. He'll scavange like crazy after I eat or cook as if he's starving. We've been to the vet numerous times, getting so many tests done. He's also been tested for EPI and his levels were fine. When he was a puppy, he was always bigger than huskies younger than him. He just stopped growing one day. Solid poops is rare, but we just started probiotics a couple days ago. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated. Also last vet visit he was…

Since Tsunami always had a sensitive/upset stomach & his recent poop eating the vet suggested trying something like Spirulina... (Tagging @Jase since I think you mentioned it for dogs before?) I have a choice between the 50g spirulina powder (which I have no idea if he will eat it dry over kibble) for expensive or 200g biscuits (see pics) Ended up getting the biscuits for now, will see later if he'll eat them ir not, Smokey seems very interested in the pack, he's still napping in his crate, so no waking a sleeping Husky! I know the powder can be used in food etc, but the bottle just say "use as needed" so I have no idea how much would be needed...a…

Last night my wife noticed Koto lying in the middle of the room looking like he might be sick. She called his name. I watched as koto just sat there looking at her. I noticed he was shaking. Sharon still unsure if he was going to get sick moved toward the door calling his name. Mokoto tried to stand up. Something which should be natural. His hind legs raised the back side but his front legs couldnt lift his forward section. Koto in that moment was trying to follow Sharon to the back door but his rear legs were pushing his un raised front parts. At that moment we knew something was wrong and went to him. He was shaking. Five minutes later he was totally normal…

So I last posted about Ciba almost two months ago when he tore his CCL and had to have a TPLO surgery. The recovery has been fantastic on his knee however he has been having some other serious problems from about the 1st week he was home. He started to cry when he ate too much food (a few mouthfuls) and then after a few days if he did it again he would cry and then regurgitate his food that he just ate. I returned to the vet, they scoped him and found some esophageal ulcers which were giving him some grief. He was treated with Omeprazole and Sulcralfate and only feed a tablespoon of gastro canned food every 30 minutes - any more and it would cause and episode. …

Soooooooooo, my little girl has had a teeny tiny bump begin to form on the end of her nose. She has had something similar before but it gradually faded into nothing. This new lump is the size of a small pea, and is accompanied by a patch of rough red skin. (circled in the picture) Im seriously hoping its not cancerous. Has anybody had any similar problems like this?

So Keiko fell down the stairs last week. She fell down roughly 10 steps her neck appeared to get stuck at the bottom and she flipped over again, she was twitching and had knocked her self out for 20 seconds max we did think she had killed herself. Rushed her to the vets. They of course checked her over. Thankfully she seemed fine. They were more concerned about her back stopping pad she had a heat spot. We were given cream and cone of shame to return in a week for a check up. She seemed fine. However she was sleeping a lot and seemed to be having muscle spasms which she still has it looks like she's shivering but only happens when she's sleeping I tried to film it but did…

Hi All. I joined here when I got my puppy 2 and a half years ago but haven't been online much since!!! I got my girl neutered last Thursday. She was in heat in December and got sick after. The vet diagnosed pyometra and we scheduled her in to be neutered last Thursday. The surgery went ok but she did have the pyo and was quite sick. She is still on antibiotics now. On Sunday morning (4am) she started to cry and came onto my bed very upset (she sleeps in her own bed in my room!) crying and panting and heavy breathing. She was very distressed but I was able to get her to calm down a bit and called the vet on Sunday at around 11am. He came by in the afternoon and…

Hi I'm new to the forum and also a new husky mom! I have an 11 week old Sibe and I'm having a horrible time with her having diarrhea. When I got her she was on Nutri Source Large Breed Puppy Chicken & Rice Formula. This was not available to me where I live so I had to switch her. So I ended up picking Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy. It hasn't let me down in the past, I have had my dogs on it for the past 18 years. It's not cheap. She has been on it for almost 3 weeks and she is still having diarrhea. She also throws up about once a day. I have been giving her banana baby food. I read that would help firm up the poops. I have been giving her an Imodium A…

So I adopted a 5 year old husky a few months ago. I moved out of my parents house and they kept my 6 year old husky, Shia, so I decided that I wanted one again! We came across Tydus at a shelter and adopted him right away! The shelter said he is a purebred husky. But, he looks sort of off? His muzzle and head is very large. He is short, round and stocky. His skin is really loose around his neck. And his fur is extremely coarse. It feels very different than any other huskys that I know. Do you think maybe it's just bad breeding? Or maybe mixed with something else?? Other than his digestive issues that we have fixed, he is in good health. Tydus is the red one. Shia is …

My 1 year old husky seems to be suffering from a dry coat this winter. He has been very itchy and I notice when I am brushing him that he has some dandruff as well. Any suggestions on what I can do to help make his coat less dry?

Saw this on Facebook. A post made by our lovely member Sadaka I think. Thought it might be useful here. We all know that cooked bones are a no no but the types of bones are usually a grey area of knowledge to some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Must say I have never seen an elephant bone before! The mind boggles! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First of all let me apologise if I am teaching grannies to suck eggs! However some people on the forum may be entertaining the idea of feeding their dogs either a raw or BARF diet but be concerned about giving their beloved fur baby all the vitamins and minerals they should be getting. Previously I have only ever fed adult dogs a barf diet and feel confident that they are getting all they need, however when I was changing my 12 week old puppy over to a raw diet I did quite a bit of research to ensure I got it right and came across the following from the Dogs Naturally Magazine. It was of particular interest to me as I am also interested in herbology, and …

Any advice? I already cleaned his crate and gave him a nice bath, although he did not think so! He loves bathing himself, without the shampoo added He has to be at the vets 8:15 tomorrow morning and I only get him back after 4 Don't know what Smokey and I'm gonna do all day without my little monster around...

We have been spending quite a lot of money on dog treats - especially as rewards for the new pup. However I've noticed in the last few weeks that my older dog has not been eating the treats, ............. he comes up enthusiastically for them, but when he smells them he just walks away - also the pup is turning his nose up at them. I've been aware of the dogs that have died from eating treats made in China - but many say USA as the origin, however have been made with Chinese ingredients in the USA, so have been getting concerned.I decided to try making my own - using only meat, no preservatives, additives etc. I bought 6 boned chicken breasts, a whole lamb’s liver and 6 l…

So with Tsunami's frequent vet trips from the start caused by the wrong shots and having an upset tummy because of it he spent most of his time having way too liquid poop... Following the vets instructions and as I've read on here, tried multiple times with the rice & cooked chicken combo, but that would just worsen it everytime! So after a lot of kibble shopping I finally found one with a beet filler (no rice) that has his poop 100% Any kibble or canned food with rice in gives him liquid poop! So the vet said he might be allergic or sensitive to rice of all things... Anyone else ever heard of something like this?

So around the end of summer, TOTW suddenly becomes difficult to find in Indo. Finally I switched to Acana, and even then I had to order it online. And then suddenly TOTW enters the market again, and so I switched back because Acana is honestly beyond my price range. Latest news I got about Diamond, the parents were unsure about how long TOTW would be available since supply has been on and off, so they got both Acana and TOTW. This is not a problem since Dime enjoys both kibbles, but then I heard the parents are mixing them! D: I don't know if that's okay? What do you think?

Tavi Kagome has recently started experiencing ZRD like symptoms. she has been having problems with her paws for over a year, but I didn't link it to ZRD until now. I've got her and her sister on Zinc now, but I read somewhere that it's a good idea to put probiotics with the zinc so that more zinc is absorbed. Looking for opinions on this. I feed them Zinc tabs first thing in the morning, but I'm worried that it could be making her feel sick to her stomach. the reason i feel this way is that I read some reactions in humans to taking Zinc without food. It makes them sick to their stomachs. Of course I want the girls to absorb it, but I also don't have any idea if it's …

Hi- my rescue pup has been suffering with zrd and demodex mites, she's been poorly For weeks and we're finally getting over it and she's showing signs of improvement. She accidentally scratched her face which ended in a deep cut & bleed, i put dermisol on it but she licks it off straight away- I've tried sudacream and coconut oil too but it doesn't last long either- it seems to be getting worse by the hour!! She did have a small bald patch but it's getting bigger. I just don't know what's best to put on it to encourage healing and hair growth??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So Shadow has become a crazy picky eater (when he was younger he went nuts over his kibble)! He was on Purina One when I got him at 8 weeks and after about a week at home I started the switch to taste of the wild pacific stream, he liked it for about two weeks and then wouldn't touch it, so I tried the bison formula instead and same thing he liked it for about two weeks then hated it. The only way I could get him to eat at all was if I mixed it with wet (yes I realize I probably could have waited him out and he would have eventually ate if he was hungry enough, but I know he's growing a lot right now and I just love him and want him to enjoy his food). Anyway it was like …

Yep, that old age topic again, sorry for bringing it up again But I have something that's been on my mind for a very long time and I just want to write it down now. A lot of people on here are very much for spaying and neutering their dogs as soon as possible. Because no puppies, no stress and various health reasons. People are responsible for their dogs, which is great! But *is* it really the best thing to do? I used to be very much for altering but a few years down the line I've realised I was just echoing other people's opinion. Now that I've actually got some proper research done as well as having my own experiences I've taken a complete 180 degree turn in this opin…

UPDATE JULY 30: On the road to recovery. I have no idea where Suka's old thread about his cancer went off to, so I hope its okay to make another one. Anyways: Suka was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. As it turns out, he has osteosarcoma...so it likely has already spread at the time of diagnosis. But we can still do chemo to prolong his life. We're also doing physio 2 or so times a week up a guelph (to begin with), and then we're going down to Dunville for their laser therapy (relieves swelling, pain, speeds healing) for a couple times a week (my new vet; ditched the old one as she misdiagnosed his leg pain and said it just arthritis). He has a cockt…

Has anyone any experience with this? Recently I've noticed when kimba gets up from curling up on the sofa he leaves a wet patch behind and then cleans himself. He is 8 in April next year and is neutered so am guessing the reduction in hormones along with his age is the cause but I will be going to the vets next week. This is the dribble he just left on the sofa Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk Oh god i really shouldn't google things!! Consequently it is essential to recognize and react to the symptoms of male dog inc…
