Hello all, well any one got any good hints and tips for potty training. My little man goes out side ever 30mins or so then comes back in and pee's and poops!!! (perhaps he prefers the warm) lol Any hints or tips would be great ) p.s while writing this he just went to his puppy pad, circled it sniffing the flor then peed!!! I gave him loads of fuss and praise so lets see if it was just coincidence or deliberate!!! Yayy I am so pleased if this is the start of a good thing )

So I have Blayze and Kyrian at home now, and they each have a puppy size collar and leash. I have a few questions about training them to walk nicely on the leash, because right now all they do is pull in the opposite direction. Also, when can I take them for walks? I've been told after their 2nd set of needles, and I've been told after they're totally vaccinated. What is the correct way?

Hi I need some advice on how to treat noise phobia. we walked past the remembrance parade, they stomped to attention, the band started playing and sashka freaked out. Ever since then she freaks out at the slightest noise and is frightened by new people.

I'm pretty sure it's her trying to get my roomies to play but I wanted to see what everyone else thinks. A little background info my roomates sleep on a futon on the floor in the living room. When they are sitting on it and using their laptops Kiana has been coming up behind them and pretty much mounting their backs. She doesn't hump or anything just puts her paws on their shoulders and peeks over. Somethings she'll lick their ear or face but most of the time she just stands up on their shoulders. I''m pretty sure its an invitation to play or she wants to play but how would I get her to stop? I tell her no and they do the same and push her off but it doesnt seem to effect…

I am sorry for all the threads I am posting! I must be really annoying! Sorry! So I took flash for a walk about 10pm for 30 minutes so he could poop and then come back and let him in the living room. He was initially very energetic but I played some fetch with him inside then gave him a bone and he sat pretty much like an angel until 1am... I thought I would leave the door open to his bed and see if he went on his own to sleep. So for that reason I stayed up until 1am but all he did was look really tired by then and looked like he was going to fall asleep on the carpet and then suddenly out of nowhere he jumped up and star…

I measured Phoenix and Zara for their harnesses today. Phoenix measures as a size 13 long - Neck size 13inches and body length as 30 inches. Zara measures as a size 10 extra short - Neck size 10 inches and body length as 23 inches. She is only 10 months old though and has some growing to do I was wondering should i get her one with a slightly longer length? I got the measurement stuff from: http://www.windchill.com.au/harness.htm which is where I will be getting them from.

i'm having some problems with spirit....not 100% sure if it's separation anxiety. Since now it's christmas break time, i'm home most of the time and spending a little bit more time with her now. However, When i go out, she gives me this puppy face look...like a "please dont leave look". And when I come home, i find some messes around the house and/or urination on the carpet, missing used tissue papers from my table. Before I leave the house to go out, I walk her, feed her and give her "the bone" to chew on to get her attention away from me when i'm getting ready to leave. However, I've noticed that she doesn't play/chew with her bone when i'm gone. She'll only …

This is my first post on the forum but I have been reading it for a while preparing for my new puppy. I have a 10 week old red and white named Paisley. I have had her for 2 weeks and my wife and I love her to death. She is being crate trained and doing a good job so far. Her potty training is coming a long very well thanks to the crate. She hasnt pooped in the house in about 5 days and just has occational pee accidents due to her small blatter im sure. She doesnt really like to go into her crate on her own yet but she is definalty getting more comfortable inside. Paisley is also crying less at night and almost making it through the night without having be let out to …

Ok, so some of you may know that I have had a few quandries over what to feed my fussy pup, but after some deliberation I decided to go for raw. Best thing about it? She's flipping well eating Worst thing about it? Her poop is liquid (she's adjusting, it's fine) Odd thing about it? I fed her pork chop this morning - only the meat and she'll get the bone once we've been out in the garden for a run. But she was taking the chunks out of the bowl and hiding them. I have a fabric tote bag that was under the kitchen table and she was digging at it as if she was trying to bury the meat. I've read a few things like she might have…

So we brought Shadow home last night and so far Seren, our 1 yr old husky seems to dote on him. As expected though, Seren was at times, a little too boisterous with him and we had to call him away. We took the plunge in getting Shadow primarily as a best buddy for Seren and especially after seeing how happy the huskies on here who were in 2's or 3's looked. While Shadow is absolutely fearless and has taken to the house like he's been there since day 1, I'm keen to pick you guys' brains on how we integrate them successfully, maintaining Seren's discipline while training Shadow and allowing for "young puppy" mistakes, behaviour etc, in particular..... 1) If Se…

Kiska is very possessive over her food and somewhat possessive over her toys. Does anyone have any tips for stopping this? I know this is the best time to be dealing with this sort of thing so I want to start correcting it now. When I put food down for her, as I said in another thread, she wolfs it down. When I put my hand into her bowl while she's eating she doesn't try to bite me and doesn't growl or anything so she's not aggressive about it, but she tries to eat even faster and butts my hand out of the way. She's the same with treats - I gave her a bit of carrot earlier and she ran straight to her bed with it and while normally she'd nibble it, drop it, snif…

I've been searching for info on being the Alpha or pack leader with my puppy and have gotten a lot of mixed thoughts and ideas. Lucy is only 7 weeks old and is bonding to me pretty well but I wonder if she sees me as a leader? Today she was all excited after our little walk in the yard and decided to go in the door before me. I've read that one of the main ways to show that you are dominant is to go through doors first. I've also read various things such as making eye contact controlling the dog's food are ways to be dominant. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to replace training by dominance or trying to have my dog fear me. She just is very indep…

I'm new here... so please do treat me like an idiot! I would rather everyone over elaborated than assumed I knew everything! Quick background for Flash (photo on my profile)- he is a cross break husky/malamute - we got him at around 7 months and my dad has been looking after him since then. Together we have decided that where I live would be better for him as there is a big park nearby and it is more dog friendly. Behaviour wise and dog training wise I will be honest and say I do not know if he has had any training other than my dad training him when he was younger. The previous owner gave him to my dad as he was leaving the country but I have no idea…

Anya hasn't had her second set of jabs yet so she is not ready for walkies until the second week in Jan (ish). However, we have a fairly large garden and she loves running, jumping, climbing trees and will come 90% of the time when I call her. I already have a collar on her so that she is used to it, but as soon as the lead goes on her she doesn't pull me with her, she plonks herself on the floor and pulls backwards against where we're going! I have searched through a fair few threads just here and seen nothing of reluctance to want to move when on a lead; I know that it will take her some getting used to, but I'm not sure how to get her trained on …

Hello everyone, myself and partner are rehoming a 6 year old male into the home next week and was wondering if anyone had any advice on doing this in the best possible way? Some background, basically the 6 year old is Logan (our pups) dad!! so im hoping this will go smoothly as i think they will prob know each other as it hasnt been that long since they knew each other. He doesnt have food/toy agression and has been around other male adult dogs his entire life. He hasnt been neutered and i dont plan on having him done either so i expect he will put Logan in a lower position within the pack and when hes older we will have Logan challenging him. I have…

Ground was tacky to & hard going in areas.

Took kavik for a health check as when he runs in harness he seems to slow sometimes & not pull. vet moved all his legs & his left leg has restricted movement in it but she wasnt worried about it, suggested supplements . Does any folk here know of any i can try for this. will keep an eye on this & see how he goes. Just hope he hasn't the start of a hip problem.
