Decided one of the things I am going to do this year is Im gonna keep my computer 100% tidy like I used to have it all the time. Over the past 6 month with moving things around, changing operating system etc I have gotten to the point where my hard disks are just full of rubbish. And when I say full I mean like over 2TB worth of rubbish (for you none geeks that is 2048 Gig). So last night I decided to start sorting my computer and its just about getting to a useable state. I have a dual boot machine (ubuntu and Windows 8) and have the files down to 500gb instead of 2tb which is a hell of a lot of deleted data. All I need to do now is organise those files to whe…

Just come across this website that some may find really handy, for both geeks and none geeks alike. There are lots of things you can do on a windows machine, and this page pretty much has the best of the tweaks you can use on windows 7. Like I said there is something for everyone and I can almost guarentee no matter how much you know about windows you will learn something http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/39553/the-50-best-how-to-geek-windows-articles-of-2010/

So for those of you who dont know what Im on about with this update, you will first need to go read this http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/showthread.php/48090-Raspberry-Pi Update on my Raspberry Pi. Got it through the door last week, and I gotta say they are smaller than I actually thought they were. Anyways, first step I needed to get a few bits for it. Case - I went on the internet to look for a housing for it. Managed to get myself a clear looking case which was only £5 so was pretty impressed with that. This came today and was self assembly (which was fun LOL) Wireless Dongle - Dont want any wires across the room or that would defeat the object o…

I have trouble posting on the forum on my mobile, especially posting photos. When I try & click on small buttons to select which pics, the whole background goes blue & not the tab I want OR the selection window disappears off screen & I can only see it by zooming right out, which means I can't get at the buttons again! How do you access the forum on your mobiles & how good is it?

Bought one of these last week. Absolutely awesome. fast, responsive. the gorilla glass screen is tough and almost fingerprint free even after heavy use. Battery lasts a day with average use. video and Music are both superb. I also have an Arnova G92 tablet which I upgraded from gingerbread to Ice cream sandwich (a major improvement) and while it is a capable tablet (with the OS upgrade) it pales in comparison to the Nexus 10. Highly recommended

Just a matter of curiosity, how many people here have had any experience with Win 8? I've followed the development releases as they've come out and haven't been impressed. Maybe if I had a tablet it'd be a different matter but since my monitor is not a touch screen it comes across as more of a pain than it's worth. Question for the technically oriented, I've installed all the pre-pre-releases in a VM without a problem. Downloaded the release candidate and for over an hour all I've seen is this nice little blue window setting in the VM display - it can't seriously take that long to load the new version - can it?? (( an hour clock time / almost 30 minutes CPU time …

Raspberry Pi

Got myself a new toy today I have bought a Raspberry Pi (I can see all you women licking your lips already). No it is not a Pie with rasberries in, its a computer. Only difference being these computers are extremely small, extremely basis, extremely light. They have 2 usb ports, 1 hdmi port and your storage is an SD card. The image below gives you an idea of the size of this thing. SO, my aim? Im gonna install a media operating system onto it and stick it to the back of my TV. This way I can play videos, music etc directly from my TV with a remote as I will have it networked to my main PC.

Realizing that I'm potentially opening up a can of worms here - everyone has their own viewpoint on which is best. Who here is using a variety of Linux and which do you think is best and why? As I said in the Windows 8 thread, I can't see me moving to Win 8 - and as Linux improves I see more and more capability there - especially for those of us who are not interested in delving into the heart of an OS. So - which and why, folks?? Just to comment, I've "played" with Linux for quite a while, just not as comfortable there as I have been with Windows. For me PCLinuxOS has been an good introduction to current Linux's but for some reason it just doesn't feel c…

Once upon a time there was a person call Marc who had a 3mb download speed and 0.25mb upload speed on his internet. This had been the case for many a year as nobody wanted to give him a house that was in a cable area. One day a new fibre provider called BT Infinity was brought out, so Marc thought to himself "Hmmm this looks good, I'l have it!". Much to Marcs dismay he was told he couldn't have this as the new magical powers had not been extended to his realms. Months and months Marc waited, until one day (today) a man turned up at his house and said "Sir, I am the BT wizzard and I am here to give your computer magical powers", and with a wave of his magic broa…
