Message to everyone in America. I'm gonna give you guys a challenge. if you go have a look at the member map (which bare in mind is not everyone, only those who have added), there are now a lot of members clumped in different areas around the states. So why dont you guys get yourselves some big meets set up? I appreciate the distances are further to get to them in the states even for some who are relatively close to each other, so would advise trying to plan it a couple of month in advance of when you plan to meet up but I promise you from experience over here, if its organised properly, people will come. Anyone who decides there is enoug…

Hi All, As some of you will already know there was a topic posted up regarding another website last night which caused a little controversy. Now first of all I will say that a comment put by Sarah was read incorrectly. The statement "I have been called a **** and worse" was completely correct, however not by the owners of the site. It was actually by one of their members of staff (whom I believe is no longer a member of their site) and this has been apologised for by this person directly since. All of this is logged and we have complete evidence to back up. Our apologies if this has been taken as the site owners who did this, as this is simply not the cas…

8.03 - Advertising of websites in direct competition with husky-owners.com is not allowed I am reading alot of threads and posts within telling member to go to other husky related websites THIS IS GOING TO STOP. We know most are members of multiple husky sites and most are trying to just be helpful we can see that but from now on any post / threads containing other husky websites will be removed just because there is no http or www. with the names being posted they will still be removed. As one or two might of noticed this as already started to happen and will continue, there will be no pm's sent out as to why posts are r…

Steam room changes 1 2
by Marc- 34 replies
- 1.7k views
Hi All, Just thought I would make you aware of a few changes that have been made to the steam room on suggestion by some of our members. The steam room will no longer be viewable by anyone that is not logged into the forum. Also these members must have over 10 posts in order to view. This should stop any random topic jumpers from coming on specifically to cause trouble, and also ensure that its not the bad side of the forum people see when they first visit husky owners.

So here are another set of stats for husky owners for you, and some that I have been somewhat unable to do before because we hadn't been around long enough to do them. So here are our year on year statistics for those who are interested, along with the % change between each year where appropriate. One thing I think I would take from this, especially those who have been around for a fair while now, is that it goes to show that we are still a very fast paced growing community and that nobody is bigger than the forum, no matter how much you post. Its one thing that never seizes to amaze me at times just how much people see themselves as invaluable to the forum be…

Hi All, Quick notice of a change to husky owners (which will be monitored). A while ago I removed the ability to give out a negative for a post in which you dislike. On looking at this over the past few weeks I have decided that it may be more in the best interest of the site to have this switched back on. And therefore you will now notice that there is both a + and a - buttton attached to every post, so that you can vote the post up or down. NOTE: Please do not be messaging people to ask why you have been voted down if your post is casted negativly. If something needs investigating it will be done so by a member of staff. If you really feel the need to me…

Rule Reminder! 1 2

Following on from this thread - http://www.husky-own...829#entry295829 A member has basically been scammed unfortunately through a dog being advertised on here for monetary value We have the following rule in place for a reason: 6.01 -The advertising of any animals for sale, whether directly or indirectly is strictly prohibited. This includes donations, recouping of costs etc toward the obtaining of an animal in any way shape or form And this is the sad reason why. Someone posted up this dog was in need of a home but someone wanted money for them and now the dog is in danger of doing harm to other…

Gallery updated 1 2
by Marc- 43 replies
- 2.1k views
OK Guys, the gallery has now been updated to a very new version so you will find that it looks a lot different. I'm not going to be writting tutorials on how to do things at this time, however will be doing so tomorrow and over the weekend. What I will do though is leave you with some info: The gallery images are no longer restricted to 1024x768, however you will have to ensure they are under 2mb (2048kb) in size in order to upload them. If your unsure, stick to what you are doing now. You can multi select images to upload in blocks of 10 at a time and you will be able to see them uploading and their progress. However you will still be left on th…

Now I'll bet thats a title you never expected to see on an annoucement topic here on husky owners? LOL. Nigel, the owner of SibeSpace contacted me earlier today regarding something he is doing with his members on SibeSpace and has asked if we would like to join in with this. Although we are our own sites with our own goals and ideals, one this is for certain that all should keep in mind. This is that we all care about Sibes, regardless of the way we choose to do so. So for this reason we have decided to join with SibeSpace on the following cause which I dont think there is much that will explain this better than what Nigel put in his email to his mem…

Thought I would do a quick post up to let you know about the issues I am aware Of since the gallery update. The latest images are currently not showing in explorer and I am awaiting a fix for this Images added using attachments rather than the gallery are losing their thumbnails. I should have a solution for this later I have just not had chance to sort yet - NOW FIXED FOR NEW ATTACHMENTS Avatars. Some of these have been rebuild and lost their quality. The issue has been resolved but will not fix old images so you will need to re add your avatar if yours looks odd

Hi Guys, I am going to be shutting down our gallery shortly for a MAJOR update. I have decided to be a tester for the new gallery software so please bare in mind we will be running on beta (test) software for a while. I will be doing a full backup of all areas of the gallery (of which I have already started) just in case things go badly wrong. However we are on quite a later version of the beta now, so I dont anticipate having many issues with the update procedure itself. HOWEVER if something does go madly wrong, its likley that I will be fixing it over the next 24 hours so we may be without one for that period. As has been said with so many upd…

Rule Changes 1 2
by Marc- 33 replies
- 1.9k views
OK guys will get straight to the point. The rules of the forum will shortly be changing and I would like everyone who posts on the forum to read these through. Whatever you think the rules are and think will not have changed, you need to read them as they may well have changed. You will notice that the rules are shorter and more condenced. This is in order to ensure that they are uncomplicated and easy to ensure you stick to. This forum was set up as a place to be where people can enjoy talking about their huskies, go to meet others for walks, and generally enjoy the life we all have with the animals we love so much. Too often of late has this not b…

OK guys, I know there is more than one member on the forum who has multiple accounts on the forum. Whilst I understand that this is having a bit of fun at times it is now getting to the extent were some members feel they are simply being taken the mick out of, and more to the point for me I think us staff have enough to look after on the forum without chasing dummy accounts around the forum. I have been rang up about "problem members" on the forum on more than one occasion whilst I have been at work and Im sorry but I am not happy about this. Last night another member of staff was also contacted to come onto the forum as a lot of the staff were out and about, s…

Around 6 month ago (yeah ok probably more) I started a topic regarding a new piece of software that I would like to create for Husky Owners. Unfortunatly as I changed jobs in this time and needed to focus a lot of my development time on that, it never materialised into anything at all. So I though now it is coming up to christmas, a few holidays are looming and since I have now been working in full on development and learnt a lot, I would have a go at actually getting this thing developed. For those of you who dont know about sibecare, here is an overview of what I am trying to achieve. Marcronix SibeCare We all on here own huskys, a…

Hi Guys, The subscription system has now been fully updated and will start to become a lot more automated from today to save a lot of the administrative work that has to go on in order to keep this up to date. All members will have now been moved into the appropriate groups and an autoemail sent out where neccessary. Please note that when adding a new subscription there are 2 options for paypal payments. If the Paypal subscribe option is not chosen then it will not automatically try to take the payment when it is due, and therefore your subscription will likely expire until I can get some notifications going out to people (something which I am workin…

Hi Guys, I am adding this topic to the forum for you all to read as it is something that needs to be taken very serious by all for your own benefits. When writing topics on the internet, please be aware that the internet is for the most part public domain. You may feel at times that writing topics in the steam room regarding other people and situations, worklife and problems within it and such things as this will never be seen by the people in which the topic is about. On 3 occasions in the past 2 weeks alone this has been proven not to be the case. Please be very careful what you post guys. This place is your hobby, dont let it cause serious pr…

As many of you will know who have been here a long time, last year Amy (Siberian_Wolf) had to step back from the position of Super Moderator on the forum due what we like to refer to on here as "Real Life" (Look it up on the net for you addicts LOL). Amy as you know was always a good asset to the team here. And therefore for that reason Amy will be returning back to her own position of Super Moderator on the forum. Welcome back. Bout time you got your backside back on here woman

Hi Guys, Just to let you know the section where you can subscribe to donations and gain the "Site Sponsor" tag has now been completely revamped to have much more of a shopping cart type feel. This is in preparation for other items in the future that may appear in this area. To learn more about site sponsors, you can visit this topic which says much more about it. http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/index.php?/topic/13493-new-forum-sponsors/
